Who'd you like to see in a spinoff? And what would you like to see them doing?

A movie, dude!  At last report, they were in discussions for one, but FOX aren't going to let it go easily.  Just another point-proving stunt from those bureaucratic bastards!

I agree totally. However I'm talking about if a series containing characters from the Futurama were made (not that it ever will be) who would you like to see in it?

Spinoffs kill. A show like Futurama doesn't deserve to have a spinoff inflicted upon it. Hasn't it suffered enough?
Seriuosly, I don't see a viable Futurama spinoff. Something about Bender and his antics would get old quickly, and something about Zapp and Kif would outright suck. Amy and Kif? Fry and Leela? NO.
Let it rest in peace.

All of 'em.  There's a cunning plan - couldn't we just make a programme suspiciously like Futurama in that it has all the same writers, producers and animators, with the same characters, from the same perspective but call it a 'spin-off'....? Hmmmm....  :laff:

Erm... what about some of the missions Zapp Brannigan's been on? Or the story behind some of the Professor's inventions.  Or an ER spoof with Zoidie? So many possibilities...!

Spinoffs almost always suck, i think Fraiser is the only successful spinoff.

A clever plan Sil. I'll just go and propose it to the FOX executives.

Heh! No I do agree, spinoffs tend to cause trouble - they were going to do a Krusty spinoff and the FOX execs wouldn't let Matt Groening have the freedom he wanted, so nothing happened. At least, that's what I heard.

Frasier is excellence personified!  I love Niles! *ra-ras*

I think it would be funny to see an idea that was mentioned in the Season 3 commentaries. Originally Fry and the gang were always going to be watching a show called Futurama-orama, a science fiction show set in th year 4000! I just thought the idea is so funny.
I realise it wouldn't actualy work as a stand alone series but it had to be mentioned.

Possible Spinoffs:
"The Adventures of Scruffy, the Janitor" - Might be funny, or not.
"The Wongs on Tour" - Who would want to see that?
"Zapp's Women" - Hell no!
Shall I go on?

I have a great idea for a spinoff.  You could call it the Future Adventures of Professor Farnsworth, about his trials and tribulations inventing new and crazy thing.s  naturally he'd have to continue running his delivery business to fund it all, and he'd need a crew... and an accountant... and a doctor... and ship...

I think it could work.

Farnsworth Flux: The adventures of the Professor's previous crews, who always die by the end of the episode.

Futurama Nights: Steamy.

Amy: Amy and Kif get married and buy a hotel in Florida, but Zapp gets fired and moves in to mooch off them.  Every so often, someone breaks into song.

Odd Couple 3000: LaBarbara divorces Hermes and he must move in with Zoidberg.  Hilarity ensues.  (Note: The show takes place in Hollywood for no reason.)

Number 9 Guy: A show all about the number 9 guy.

Leela Loves Fry: Only popular in Uzbekistan, because it turns out that "Fry" is local slang for a certain body part.

FOX's Futurama: Uses all characters from the Original Futurama, but all Episodes are written by trusted FOX Employees.
The result is a show that is so boring, that nobody will want to watch this one and it gets cancelled before the first episode is aired...

A show about the crazy antics of Leela's father, leg-guy and the htree-armed mutant. I kinda liked their little scene in "Less Than Hero".

In a desperate attempt to sell the show, FOX offer uncut, free downloads of 400MB+ MPEG's of the episodes.

Result after 2 weeks online: no takers.

I saw "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" when it first aired in 1997.  The moment the end credits started, the phone rang.  I picked it up, and a guy I know immediately yelled "What the hell was that?!"  That pretty much sums up my feelings for that episode too.

I actually liked it, but I don't think a spin-off of The Simpsons or Futurama would work if it were any more than 1 episode.

The simpsons spinoff showcase was a pun directed at spinoffs not an actual spinoff showcase.

The Simpsons Spin-off Showcase was SUPPOSED to be awful. That's what made it funny - the fact that it wasn't. It was a parody of other spin-off's. It was supposed to be one of those "so crap they're funny" things, but I suppose people like Action Jacktion didn't see it that way...

Did you just say something bad about DS9?

Spinoffs are bad, if the writers just recycle their ideas from the previous series. That was IMO the problem with Voyager ... that and a few other things.

Look at all the star trek spin off's...most of em are good. Just takes the right writers to make a show funny.

I like the idea of Zapp and Kif's adventures on the Nimbus, they could recieve DOOP missions each episode and hilarity would ensue.

Still i think it should rest in peace too...

If they had the money, writers, voice actors and animators to make a spinoff and a network willing to air it, surely they could continue with the Futurama we know and love (unless it was a case of a voice actor leaving, but that's not the reason for the cancellation).

I know the question was hypothetical, but I just thought that was worth pointing out.

And I have to agree that a spinoff wouldn't do justice to the brilliance of the original show.

Totally Against, Spinoffs are made to make more money, and as some of you noted there are good spinoffs, Frasier for example, That's an exception, Most spinoffs die in the process, I'd hate to see that happen to Futurama.
The struggle to see the current episodes is enough for now.

Well, a spinoff doesn't have to be a whole series.  I wouldn't mind seeing a special about Scruffy.  Maybe with Sal.

in the commentary the mentioned an idea for a cartoon in futuramma, which they would watch (similar to itchy and scratcy in the simpsons) called 'the adventures of Zapp branagan' which would show his adventures (duh) and make him look even more heroic.
