I'm new here, so pardon me if this question has been answered 100 times.

Did the writers know that the program was being cancelled in time to write the last episodes?  I had been under the impression that the last episodes were ones that had already been produced and just needed to be "burned off."

To quote CGEF:

"The 72nd episode called "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" (4ACV18) was produced with a possible series end in mind."

The writer's didn't know at the time whether the series would be renewed, so it's written with a "conclusion" as such (so presumably answering some, but not all, questions).

There you go.

That dissapoints me, I just want a regular episode, As if Everything is alright and the next ep is only a week away.

I'm happy with things this way. I don't want a typical "95% clips, tied together with a few lame in-jokes" final episode. But a little closure would be nice.

I'm happy this way too, semi-closure to tie loose ends up, but open ended just incase movies are made  :)

I don't know why, but this makes me sad. I'm thinking of not watching the last few episodes but saving them for later. so that in 5 years i still have new episodes to look forward to (if i'd rely on my local tv stations that would be the case anyways).
Probably i'd just end up not having watched all episodes while futurama is already running again because some obscure/rich tv company has picked it up again.

I hope the final episode ties up a few ends gracefully, but t the same time it should be open-ended enough to allow the show to live on (and in the unlikely event of further seasons).

Sorry, shippers, that mean no wedding.

Thank you all for the answers.

Is there someplace I'm supposed to go for a body cavity search, or do I just jump right in with posting?
