Ok... here's a long story from a few days ago.

First you need some background info. My school is only about a mile from home, and the school doesn't provide transportation for anyone that lives that close. So I either have to take the city bus for 50 cents, or walk home.
My parents pay the 50 cents for the bus ride each day, but they decided that since my allowance is small, if I walk home I can have the 50 cents. This doesn't seem like much, but since I walk almost every day, it adds up.

Now, one day a few days ago, it was raining really really hard. And when someone from Seattle tells you it's raining really, really hard, it's really raining hard (I don't know how else to put it).

I was walking home anyway, though, because I'm trying to see if I can go the entire school year and not use the city bus once. So far, I'm doing good. But I was walking home, and I was already fairly damp, when a car drove past, though a puddle, and completely soaked me. I wasn't even halfway home, either, so I had to walk the rest of the way, with a wet shirt and pants. Which led my to thinking of a quote, slightly changed to fit the situation of course,
"I may not know much about rain, but I do know a lot about doing anything for 50 cents!"
(from Fry's line in LOTF when he electrocutes himself)
Also, just after this happened, my mp3 player decied to play "Bee Happy." and I just couldn't help smiling.      :)

The other day, I heard that a local radio station was giving away tickets to an upcoming Harlem Globetrotters game. It immediately reminded me of "Time Keeps on Slippin'", and the end of the episode. I had the team's whistling theme stuck in my head all day.

We're doing The Wizard of Oz for our school musical and when we were rehearsing the scene where Dorothy clacks her heels, I kept saying,"There's no place like-I wanna be a witch!"

For some reason, listening to The Wall made me think of Futurama.  No specific episodes or scenes really, except perhaps possibly The Sting.

I can't do anything without thinking of Futurama.

Last Tuesday, I went to my Great Grandma's funeral.

Some guy who didn't know her did most of her service. He wasn't even a minister. I couldn't help but think of "The Sting"...

Then, we went to her luncheon. We had it at our local "Fr. Solanus Casey Mens Club". I looked at those "memorial" things for the people that were in the club that had died, and right next to my Great Grandpa's name, was (no joke)...

Phil Fri
1989

When I saw it out of the corner of my eye, it looked like "1999", but it wasn't. That would be a little too freaky.

edited for my spelling

When I’m walking home and I’ve had a bad day I can’t help but murmur under my breath “I hate my life, I hate my life.” And don’t even get me started on studying Richard Nixon in history....

In my japanese classroom, my teacher has a poster advertising "YOKOHAMA: Port City of the Future"
(yokohama is a city in japan, for those who don't know)
Today, there was a chair in front of the poster, and all you could see was the letters "-AMA" and the word "Future." I did a double take when i first looked at the poster.
also, some of the skyscrapers shown in the poster look like buildings from NNY.

I was drinkning a coffee from the canteen at work today, with one of those plastic lids.
On the lid it had Benders... I doubt he would like his name on something non alcoholic.  :)

Today I went on a Feild-Trip to The Detroit Historical Museum and the New Detroit Science Center. They are both near a street called "Farnsworth".

At the Museum, there was an exibit called "The Streets of Old Detroit", and it was in the basement, so you could see the pipes and stuff on the ceiling. It reminded me A LOT of Old New York.

At the Science Center we saw an I-MAX dome movie on The Sun. This may sound really stupid, but I thought that the pictures from SOHO and the other sattelites were so beautiful, I literally fell to the floor and cried. (Hey, I told you it sounded stupid. I guess you had to be there...) Sound farmiliar?

I have songs I listen to that remind me of Futurama and Futurama lines that remind me of the songs. The Sting is a particularly ripe episode for musical reminders. Any time Bender acts evil could remind me of a Supersuckers song. I also find freaky grind/crust music goes good over fight scenes, if you're into that sort of thing.

This kid in our science class was putting back those microscopes that usually have two...eyeholes. For some reason, he was referring to all the microscopes as male or female. I had my back turned and all I heard him say was"..poor thing, she only has one eye." Freaky.

It was a bit strange, because I'm not well acquainted with him and it took me a while to figure out he was referring to the microscope. I thought he may have been a fan all along and I never new. Ah well.

I was playing Scrabble over the weekend and managed to draw nearly all consonants - reminded me of the Omicronians.  :)

I've just watched an episode of Third Rock From the Sun, where they go to a sci-fi convention. Geroge Takei was guest starring, and as soon as I saw him, I thought, "It's George Takei!" I only knew who he was because of the Star Trek episode of Futurama. Strange that - Takei making a guest appearance on TRFTS only reminded me of his other guest appearance on Futurama - it took me a few seconds to remember that he was on that other sci-fi show as well  :D

Recently i was watching the Sci-Fi Channel and i saw a preview for a new Cartoon show called "Tripping the Rift" which looks alot like a bit more mature version of Futurama. I guess it kinda goes with Futurama, in that it shows what kind of immature, hilarious future we're in for.

I don't know what reminds me of it. But last night I dreamt that I was at a halloween party and a friend of mine was being a bitch to me. When the party ended I walked outside and I was suddenly on a boat with the gang of Futurama. Proffeser was talking about this thing that indecated your perfect match. And at the time Fry said a beautiful segment to Leela. But as the machine gave out the love results, it showed Leela's true match was Fry. Bender and I started to laugh and laugh at her. I woke up and than my dog vomited in my hand. Ew!

At my school there was this list of people that first graduated there, and one of the names was Laile Taligen or sumthing like that. The name reminded me of Turanga Leela of course, and it was weird.
