I picked up a copy of USA Today at my hotel this morning.  On the front page of the Life section was an article announcing FOX's new lineup for this fall.

Futurama is not on the schedule.

What exatly does not on the schedule mean for Futurama? I mean in the UK we don't have Show X shows during Autumn things out or anything.

EDIT: I want somewhere saying Futurama=Cancelled, not a lack of scheduling.

It means that Futurama is cancelled, history, toast, extinct, bereft of life, a non-show (see dead parrot sketch).

Here is a report of the new schedule.  It says that Oliver Beene will be on at 7:00 Sundays and Banzai (they spell it right this time) will be a midseason show.  (The article I linked yesterday said the opposite.)

what the hell?

i dont understood anything.. that there will be no new Futurama episodes next year is something we allready know months ago.. Futurama episodes take 9 or more months to create so even if Fux ordered new ones now it will take a year to redo the team and make a full 5ACV block...
i was specting fux to say anything about Futurama is cancelled or not.. but being not in the scheduling is something that we allready now from many ago...

i want a oficial word.. not this crap that means nothing in itself

Damn you FOX!

Does that mean they will air the remaining episodes during the summer?

I wonder what Matt Groening will say about that.

Just to make it clear, The final 8 episodes are likely to be run out over the summer. Once that is done, Sky One will be clear to proceed to the finale (hopefully in tandem).

Well this is the now the countlessth time I'm now suggesting we go blow up FOX plaza. And do you listen to me??? No you don't, and look where it has got us!!!

I'm with Javier as in I wasn't expecting it to be in the fall line up since this was impossible to achive with its suspension earlier this year.
So to me this is not a clear definitive answer since we could have all predicted it wasn't going to be there as far back as the beginning of the year, so again, FOX have told us nothing new. I may write to them and ask them if there are any plans to bring it back. Wish me luck that I get a reply!

Today we have seen another proof that there is no God around.

Because if there would be one, then he would have smitten the FOX executives for cancelling Futurama.

That is my opinion and mine alone. Everyone else may continue to pray for some kind of divine intervention...

Yeah, but honestly, we all saw it coming. FOX sucks, the end. But, will we see the remaining 8 eps? Will Cartoon Network show them, or will FOX hang on to them forever and never show them because they're bastards?
Oh, and welcome Kipper!

Welcome to PEEL Kipper!

Hmm, I wonder if Channel 7 has the rights to air the remainding episodes, they aren't owned by FOX or anything, hopefully they will be able to air them. After all they have aired things before FOX has in Australia.

Just read this on CNN about the Fall schedule

What seemed strange to me was this sentence:

Fox has canceled "Firefly," "Fastlane," "John Doe" and "Andy Richter Controls the Universe."

Also actually they didn't say anything about Futurama at all?
May be I missed something, but was there official statement about the cancellation of Futurama or was it just the usual "Don't ask, won't tell."

Btw, welcome Kipper.

Yes, kill Oliver Beene! Put it in that timeslot! For once, the 7:00PM Sunday timeslot is being used for something useful!

This is sad. But instead of all freaking out, seems like there should be two things we need to find out.

1. What are going to happen to the already completed episodes 509-516?

2. What are the possibilities for the show to be picked up elsewhere?

Does it not seem likely that Cartoon Network can both a) run the last 8 episodes and b) consider picking up the series? Even if Fox (LAMELY) felt that it didn't give them high enough viewership, the same numbers on Cartoon Network would be awesome.

[Farnsworth] Hubba, wha-? [/Farnsworth]

Wish I could say this surprises me, but after the way they treated Futurama's timeslot, it wasn't unexpected. They did the same damn thing to "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," which was very funny and got rave reviews from audiences and TV critics alike.

But, typical Fox strategy, they moved it around so much that no one could follow, and now it is cancelled.

Thank God for Cartoon Network! Their decision to run the old episodes is proof that at least somebody out there is looking out for Futurama fans.

I wonder how any new show ever can become a true hit these days; even older popluar shows that everyone seeks to duplicate, like Seinfeld and ER, took a few years of average seasons to build up momentum and become the great shows that they were.

I suppose it's the ultimate irony: There's nothing good on TV these days; thanks to the short attention span TV has fostered, nobody has the patience anymore.

I dunno what to say.  I used up all my anger in February last year, and I accepted Futurama's fate a few months ago.  Really this annoucement (or lack of) just confirms what we already knew.

Now at least we can sit back and enjoy the final 8 episodes when they're aired/released on DVD.
