1. The heroine of Futurama is Leela ,a tough girl with purple hair. The heroine of Invader Zim is Gaz ,a tough girl with purple hair.

2. Both shows have a variety of different alien species.

3. Both shows take place in the future. (There's a lot of dispute on whether IZ takes place in the future but creator ,Jhonen Vasquez, says it does indeed take place in the future)

4. Both shows use 3D at least once an episode.

5.In both series even though technology is more advanced it still malfunctions a lot like current technology.

6. The creators of the two series both at one time worked in comics.

7. Not all aliens are intelligent like they're usually made out to be.

8. Both series' beginning has techno music and is a fast-paced video of a spaceship flying.

9. Both of the cartoon's networks that they were on naturally hated the series and did their best to ruin them by sticking them into crappy timeslots and even not showing them at all sometimes.

10. The hero's of both series are lovable losers.

11. Both cartoons can make even the most evil of all villians likable in some way.

12. Both are cartoons. GUH!

13. When fans of both series found that their show was cancelled they started petitions. The Official Petition of IZ has about the same number of people on it as the Official Petition of Futurama.

14. Both series have a mad scientest character.

15. Both series have a funny character mainly put in for just one-liners and crazy antics whose adored by many fans. Futurama: Dr.Zoidberg    IZ: GIR

16. Both shows were originally pretty dark.(Zim is still pretty dark but not as much as it was intended to be)

17.  Both shows have a robot who is a main character.

18. The robots both got chips in them that enhanced them in some way in the 2001 season.

19. Both shows take place in big cities.

20. Both shows occasionally use actual star systems and planets.

There are more but I'd really rather not go over them all. Post anymore that you know about.

The job of the Sunset Squad in Futurama is not to keep a dying sun burning. It's to take the extraordinarily old people to...well...the year 3000 equivalent of a year 2003 retirement home.

Gir looks just like Bender. I even made his "little brother" named Bender Jr.

These Similarities are superficial at best. All they have in common is the Tradition of Campy Science Fiction Exploitation.

And unlkie Fox, Nickelodeon actually took note of the petition and made more eps.

another similarity: both shows cost the same amount per episode (appx. $1,200,000)

for fun facts, the 3D in Futurama is done with Maya. the 3D in Zim is done with Lightwave.

I've noticed the same thing in the past myself. In fact, my love of Invader Zim, coupled with my inability to get eps of that show on DVD, prompted me to recently buy the season one set here in region 1 and rekindled my love of all things Futurama.

I had previously given up on the series when Fox decided to pull what I now call an "Andy Richter" and put a show I like in a timeslot that is impossible to follow from week to week.

It's been a long time baby! But I'm back, I'm back.
