Ok, I'm new to this board - a longtime lurker actually, and I've watched Futurama since it debuted in the UK. Everyone can say I'm not qualified to make posts like this, and they're right.

FUTURAMA IS GOING TO BE CANCELLED. That means NO NEW EPISODES. EVER.

I know this is pretty inevitable. I think the decision has more or less been made, as Fox yet again re-airing the absolutely vomit-inducingly bad 'Large Marge' instead of Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, made clear. I wholeheartedly believe that Fux never intend to air another Futurama.

I live in Denmark now, the only way I can see new episodes is through the mindnumbing process of Kazaa downloads, and importing the DVDs. I'm not in a position to do anything to save OUR show other than letter writing, petition signing, etc.´I have tried all these things.

But PLEASE anyone who lives near FOX offices, please get together and protest, boycott etc. in any way you can. Contact your local press and get them to cover it - something I totally thing should have been done with the CGEF petition. This all puts pressure on FOX. OK, Futurama probably is dead, but at least if you do something - write a letter, protest, anything - you'll know you gave it a shot.

*steps down from soapbox*

And Fox?  :finger:

What do you think we've been doing for the past year?

BTW, Welcome to PEEL.  :)

Given that this is the week they cancelled a new episode at 2 days notice, I doubt it

LMFAO!  Yeah, screw FOX.

I agree... FOX probably won't air another episode 'cos they're FUTURAMA nazis.  I swear, they're behaving just like NICKELODEON did to Invader ZIM.  Slowly replacing it with other stupid shows, trying to divert our attention and stall us while they slowly slip our show off the air, but it didn't work.

I would totally help with a protest!  I'd go to jail defending this show!  --Erm, well maybe I wouldn't go that far, but I think everyone should just write FOX explaining how much this show means to them.  It might work, it might not.  But at least you'd die knowing you've tried. lol

Apart from horrific treatment, FOX's distaste of the show and the difficulties of getting the staff back together, what evidence is there to suggest Futurama WON'T be re-newed? I mean, FOX are stupid and all, I don't need to go into that, but maybe they really are waiting to finish airing the rest of the eps before they order another season, even if they're just going to treat it badly anyway.

What evidence is there to suggest they WILL order a new season? All we have is FOX's word for it, and frankly their credibility among Futurama fans is somewhat limited.

I mean, if I were a judge in some homocide trial, and the defence lawyer called Gail Berman to the stand as a character witness, I would start to mentally write my death sentence speech at that very moment.

Welcome to PEEL, LorenzoDuke. Enjoy it here.

The only glimmer of hope I can see for Futurama at this point is if Fox notices Futurama's success on Cartoon Network, and being the greedy, moneyloving pigs they are, decide to reinstate Futurama to get in on some of the ratings action.  -Tom

The hell you want me to do?  Blow the Fox Offices up?  Then we can't have cartoons again.  Personally its damn Cartoon Network that needs to keep it on Adult Swim.  Fox just sucks.  Sucks when they take the good shows off air and keep crap like Survivor..HuH??

Survivor is CBS.
You're thinking "American Idol" and "Joe Millionare." Those are FOX.

It seemed quite clear to me from about the third episode that Futurama was doomed. Fox put it in a crummy timeslot, ruthlessly pre-empted it, failed to advertise it while constantly plugging inferior (IMHO) shows like KOTH. I don't understand it, but they didn't ever give the show a chance. There was no consistency to when it would air and very little promotion. While I could see a hundred ads for the week's KOTH, Futurama got a 5 second "It all starts with Futurama at seven" plug a minute before it started. I would eat my hat and sleep with a Fox executive of your choosing if they brought Futurama back into production. If I was a betting man, I would say Fox took the show based on Groening's name and the success of the Simpsons, but they didn't understand the show or how to promote it. Whereas once this network took real chances, it's now largely the same slopbucket as the rest of the dial. I'm frankly amazed they have something as good as MITM.

One of the many reasons why FOX won't renew Futurama.

Aside from that, I start to believe, that the FOX executives looked for a way to punish Matt Groening since he didn't respond to their wishes.

Wait, you're saying the lovely men and women at Fox wouldn't be interested in the amorous attentions of a slimy, gross crab monster?

A) Not going to happen.
B) Would have little if any effect if it did.

Fox is a profit-driven enterprise. The only way to overcome the Fox Exec's vendetta against Futurama & Matt G., is by hitting them where it will get their attention:

Profit.
Specifically, the loss of said profit.
Given the whole situation between Fox & Matt G., exactly how to accomplish this is beyond my humble talents to discern.

This is not unlike that "Married With Children" thang, only we're trying to keep a show on the air, not get it off the air!

Ah, hope springs eternal...
