Futurama, Matt Groening's complaints, and the upcoming S1 R1 DVD was featured in today's USA Today. The article is available on the Internet at http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2003-03-05-futurama_x.htm Groening slams on Fox for failing to promote the show, ignoring its emmy, and cancelling it before its time. He also gives a massive compliment to Cartoon Network.

I got an e-mail from TCFHE (Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment) announcing new DVD releases for March. Surprise, surprise, Futurama isn't on there. Take a look: http://www.quack-net.com/angrydome/tcfhe.html Did I miss something?

Sheesh, so THAT's why I had to wait a month to get the Season 1 DVD set for my brother! All you Yanks and Aussies have been stealing our valuable DVDs! And you don't even pay spleeshing VAT on them! Grrrr. . No matter, when the S3 set comes out, I'll blockade all major ports to prevent export. Mwahahahahaha! All mine . EDIT: As for the commentaries: Originally posted by USA TODAY: "They're wild parties, these commentaries," Groening says. "Billy and John sing along with the theme and make up their own lyrics and talk in their characters' voices." From the sounds of it, they're the same. The R2 DVDs have the singing The "remix" and the actors certainly talk in their character voices sometimes.

Originally posted by SQFreak: Does that mean that the commentary is different from the UK commentary? If so I'll have to buy the S1 R1 DVDs too. (I already have the S1 R2 DVDs and the S2 R2 DVDs - I have a DVD-ROM drive with no region-checking.) No, they're exactly the same. I think Matt was refering to that one instance on the season 2 DVD, where John and Billy does their rhytm&sound trick while adding the word "Futurama" at various instances, during the opening credits. On the article: Go Matt! But the next time, please rip FOX a new one, rather than just give them a slap on the wrist. And nice of him to give CN a big kudos, for actually promoting the show.
