For my training at work, I'm taking an NVQ L3 (like A-levels, kinda). For my NVQ I'm required to come up with a 15 minute presentation, researched, etc. into an "interesting topic".

The idea that Bush coming to power was the beginning of the end for Futurama has greabbed me, and I was wondering if there are any PEELers who could widen the theory, accomplishing three goals.

One: Provide me with a project that's practically ready-made.

Two: Amuse the hell out of everyone who reads the thread.

Three: Bring all the conspiracy theorists down in favour of Futurama. They have huge TV ratings power, and nothing better to do than promote things like this.

Granted, it's also an excuse to ridicule GWB, but at this stage, that's seocndary. Boy, I never thought I'd say that.   :p

Edit: If this is successful, I'll get you guys to do all my training work for me.

Easy.  Since 9/11, FOX has gone ultra-republican.  Matt Groening (seemingly) isn't a big fan of the Republican party, and it shows up in The Simpsons and Futurama.  Simpsons makes enough money for FOX that it continues (in suitably neutered from).  Futurama is axed.

Good enough?

Find a copy of Newsweek International of Feb. 17th 2003. This should cost you about £ 2.40 .

On page 60 there is an interview with Rupert Murdoch.

Quote
THE BULLETIN: Let 's start with Iraq. How do you see events unfolding at this stage?
MURDOCH: Oh, I believe Bush is right. We can't back down now. I think Bush is acting very morally, very correctly, and I think he is going to go on with it. The fact is, a lot of the world can't accept the idea that America is the one superpower in the world.
[here I should probably put a disclaimer that the article is property of Newsweek or something]

If you need any proof that Murdoch is conservative and ultra-right wing, here you have it. These first lines of the article were enough to almost make me rip out the page and tear it into little pieces.
I hope this will help you.

In addition, we do know that one of Al Gore 's family members works on the show.

Yeah, as soon as America notices that there are other countrys in the world (and if it goes to war without UN approval, they'll notice) the world won't sleep.

"America is part of the world."
"Man, I have been gone a long time."   :laff:

I knew Groening is anti-republican, but I only just noticed when it slapped me in the face just now.

Bush conspiracy?
Did anyone notice how Richard Nixon's head won the elections?
I won’t tell more because this thread is monitored by CIA

You can't forget vengence. Al Gore guest starred on "Futurama" twice, plus his daughter was also a staff writer. Bush is jealous.

Bush have never forgotten how Matt humiliated his dad in the Simpsons episode "Two Bad Neighbours". After getting to a position of power, he phoned up his good buddy Murdoch:

Bush: "Groening made fun of my daddy. Noone makes fun of George W Bush's daddy. I want his show off the air, that should teach him! Kill The Simpsons!!"
Murdoch: "No can doo, Dubya, old pal. That's a gigantic cash cow, where netting billions on those loser viewers."
Bush: "You gotta give me something! I can't go back to ma with empty hands."
Murdoch: "What about Futurama?"
Bush: "The what now? Never heard about it."
Murdoch: "It's Groening's pet-project, we don't have any use for it, so we wouldn't mind to axe it."
Bush: "I don't know, it's not the Simpsons."
Murdoch: "Gore gueststared on it once, and his daughter works there."
Bush: "Oh my God! That would be perfect, that should teach that bleeding-heart læiberal to mess with the Republicans."
Murdoch: "Okay, it's a deal. You owe me one, George."

Thanks, I found the quote myself.

Bush will soon be in the jar of heads. Hey, you don't have to be already dead to already count. Before Nixon died, he appeared as a ghost in the Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors.

I believe Groening has said it's unlikely we'll see any Bush attacks in "The Simpsons" soon. Primarily this is due to the long lead time for the show, thus it's hard to judge the American political mood (i.e. whether it's ok to make fun of the President) nine months in advance.

We are most definitely NOT amused... sounds to me as if the kiddies are pissed that the grown-ups are in charge again...

If Democratic Icon Bill Clinton had done something about it when it happened on his watch, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place... guess he was to busy getting B.J.'s from chubby interns...

It's Nixon and Viet Nam all over again... another Republican president who has to clean up the mess left by a Democratic Administration...

Oh... so it's only righties you have a problem with... no complaints about every OTHER network being owned and run by ultra left-wing liberals...

And I seriously doubt ANYONE gives a crap about some distant Gore family member working on the show...  FOX dropped the ball on FUTURAMA because the execs were to stupid to understand it...  they didn't get THE SIMPSONS IN SPACE, which they thought they were gonna get, and they, quite frankly, ans stupidly, I might add, resented the hell out of it...

Actually, Groening has mentioned that he is going to put Bush Jr. spoofed on the show. However, while the elder Bush hated Homer, Greoning wants the younger Bush and Homer to really hit it off.

God I hate that man-thing-monster-bag they call the president. He cheated his way into office, he's blatantly anti-environment, his little oil fetish gets in the way of everything, and he wants to bomb the hell out of people who have little against us and pose no threat to us just to get at a HANDFUL who actually do. Not to mention he's a fanatic (he thinks that god tells him to go to war) and he talks like a dyslexic ape. I don't really know how he sounds like a dyslexic ape, I just wanted to use that phrase. He's a good for nothing sack of slightly smaller sacks filled with something good for nothing. All the good presidents get assassinated, but he keeps on tickin. I'll laugh if he drops dead.

Yeah... we don't know there's other countries in the world...  apparently, all our boys dying in the trenches in WWI and in the air in WWII was just an excercise in pointless futility...

And just when, pray tell, did France and Germany become the rest of the world???  Seems to me that the countries that are with us far outweigh the ones that don't want us to go because they don't want us to find the concrete evidence that they've been violating the sanctions all along...  that's why France wants an open-ended deadline... they need time to go over and scrape off all those "Made In France" stickers...

And who needs U.N. approval???  And, for that matter, who wants it???  the U.N. has grown increasingly useless and biased against the U.S.A. (whom, without, the U.N. wouldn't even exist).  And when an equally useless country like France can throw a monkey-wrench into the works, bringing it to a dead halt... well... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that it just ain't workin' right any more...

And as for Matt Groening... I give him safe conduct... although he seems to be anti-republican, he sure has taken his fair shots at Democrats as well..

^ What a fucking joke.  If old man Bush had the grapes to go into Iraq and do away with Saddam in 1991 when he had the army there to do it with, you wouldn't be in this situation you are in today.  Bush's inbred offspring has been inserted into the drivers seat by the corporations to get a little payback, and now Dubya shows about as much balls as Monica Lewinski.  Like father like son.  Waiting for Angola's approval to move in.   :laff:

The US has lost all it's credibility, and you know what?  It was a very smooth transition.

There seems to be a great deal of misunderstanding amongst the liberal contingent on the whole unsatisfying conclusion of Desert Storm...  ya see... a cease fire agreement was reached... our side of the bargain was that we wouldn't stomp Bagdahd flat... their side was to dissarm and detroy their "Weapons Of Mass Destruction"... we kept up our end... twelve years later, we're still waiting on Saddam to keep up his...

And, I was under the impression that it was the voters that put Bush in office... and yes, though you may find it hard to accept, despite the legal manauvering by the Gore team, Bush DID win...  despite the fact that the networks called it for Gore... a full hour before the polls closed in Florida...  despite Gore doing his best to get the military absentee ballots thrown out... despite the best efforts of the Democratic Strategists to count "hanging chads" as Gore votes, Bush still won...  an panel of Democratic-bias newspapers kept on recounting for almost a year... and, despite the fact that they increasingly swayed the parameters to favor Gore, Bush won EVERY TIME!!!  Not only that, but they finally stopped counting because Bush kept picking up votes...

And the U.S. hasn't lost any credibility amongst anyone important...  the only ones that lost any credibility are the brainless morons marching up and down with their little BUSH IS HITLER signs...  shows just how much they actually know about the world...  maybe they oughta drop the signs and check into a library... do a little reading... actually LEARN something!!!

Um, actually, no. Given the tightest restrictions of voting (not to mention reported election fraud in Florida), Al Gore still would have won. The Miami Herald even said that Gore won by Miami-Dade, and therefore Florida, by at least 300 votes.

Oh, and while we're at it, Bush is the only president in recent history who did not do the ceremonial walk to his inaguration. Since Carter, presidents have gotten out of their cars and walked, to show they still are citizens. Bush didn't...probably because his limo was jeered and being pelted with trash.

But, enough of this. The thread's going to get closed if we keep talking like this.

You know what?  You will keep on waiting, then go home with your tail between your legs, cuz all the airplane dancing hippies have had their way.  Again.

When a pissant country like Iraq can mop the floor with US foreign policy and (as an extra added bonus) turn the entire world (IE:Media) against the "War" and make Dubya look like the Stalin of the 21st century.  You should cut your losses, and get back to watching NASCAR.
