Why is it whenevr someone opens a welcome thread, they always get given this piece of advice?  How many PEELers ever opened a SECOND thread announcing their arrival?

Good point, it's not as if the newbie can unpost the "Hi I'm new thread", it just makes the place look unfriendly. People should just say welcome to the newbie, if they feel a need to post, until the thread gets closed by the first mod to find it.
