Just seen an old episode of the Simpsons with some 'Kathy'-womans head in suspended animation. Seeing as the heads of the Star Trek cast feature in Futurama, I wondered if MG believes this is the future of preservation. Will he be preserving his head when the time comes? Is it expensive?

If I remember correctly it was the head of the woman who voices Bart.  Scene was from the episode where Bart becomes Krusty's sidekick.  His act was I Didn't Do It.  Anyway it was getting old and he had a nightmare where he was on a game show in the future featuring washed actors.  The head was the one that landed next to him, then he screamed and woke up.
As for the head in jars thing, maybe he just thinks its funny.  I believe he got it from a old 50s movie, where a scientist keeps his wife's head alive in a jar.  I think its called The Brain That Wouldn't Die.

I think the heads-in-a-jar bit on Futurama was mainly to enable celebrities to appear as themselves.

THIS is why people are just heads. It's cheaper than having your whole body done. I *seriously* plan to do this if I have enough money when I die. Yep. See you in the future.

LOL that would be funny.

The whole "head in a jar" thing originalted with the urban legend that Hitler's head had been saved in a jar and was being preserved so that it could be re-animated later.  Soo after science came along and said "with cryogenics, we could preserve a head in a jar" and so they've done it.  The interesting part will be trying to reanimate a head (or whole person) that's been frozen.

I think Matt G has expanded on this idea as a way of allowing for guest appearances on the show.  Besides, heads in a jar are all "futur-y".

I'm with him, however, I wouldn't want to just have just my head wacked off and chucked in the freezer, my body may not be much but it's all I've got for getting around in, realistically with all this cloning and what-not going on I can see a possibility of people making bodies to reattach said head's back onto in the future but then all to easily I can see a bunch of scientists hanging around a thousand years from now going, "Well this guy just froze his head, what the hell was he thinking we were going to do about it?"

I admit it, I have a fear of death, I just hope I live long enough to find aa way to cheat it.

 :laff: That would be hillarious.

Too bad Ed O'Neil hates FOX with the burning intensity of a thousand quasars, and have woved never to work on any of their programs again.

Of course he could reconsider.

There's the fact that FOX hates Futurama to consider. He'd do it just to spit in their faces.
