Teral summed up the dark side very well in the answer to your question, but there is a a bright side too.

Cartoon Network is an all animation cable channel in the US that has acquired the rights to rerun Futurama episodes.  Starting Sunday the 12th, they will be showing every Futurama (in order - hooray!) Mon-Thurs @ 11 Eastern/10 central with no Football or "King of the Hill" marathons to preempt it.  And (this is the almost bizarre part) they are actually promoting it as something they are proud of!

Does this mean new episodes will be produced in the future?  Maybe, maybe not - but what was all but an impossibility a few weeks ago has at least been bumped up to "theoretically 'maybe'" if the ratings are there and Cartoon Network makes money on the show.

I hope every Futurama fan will tell their friends about the Cartoon Network showings so that the show is strong ratings wise and we all get the chance to laugh at FOX's lack of vision some day.
