eBay is pathetic when it come down to This

A total fanart ripoff, If I were the artist, I'd want my cut.

Who made it?

And I 'm sure that you can also send e-bay and e-mail about it.

Edit. This may be difficult. The characters are copyrighted.

So if the fanartist would want his share, wouldn't Fox also want some of it?

I think it may be Leandro's (it looks very similar to one of his except someone added a background), which would be a sick joke from FOX since they've been having a go at him again with C&Ds about "Copyright Infringments"  :nono:

The item description says shipped from South East Asia.  Just another cheap knockoff.  But just trying to profit from Futurama fanart is plain W E A K.  Someone tell Leandro.  He'd prolly get a kick out of it.

I'll tell him. I'm planning to send him some art soon as well. It'll tie in nicely about the C&Ds with something I hope to send him.  ;)

For those who saw it, what exactly was it?

It was some kind of picture or painting of Leela in a frame.

Whoa, it was actually ripped off from Leandro's? That is really bad. And I've been in a wallpaper community where some dude stole backgrounds from other people and stuck anime characters in them and called it his work. At least he didn't do it for profit.

That's quite annoying   :( Ripping off someone's artwork, who worked hard to make it.

Did it actually sell or not?

EDIT: I have just been on eBay and I think they may be printing more of these scanned images on T-shirts and selling them. I'm not sure though, so don't tell me off if I'm wrong.
I don't know if this works:

I think I saw this image at TLZ...

There was this one as well. I think I have seen it somewhere before:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15687&item=2801279385

I think eBay realised it was a knockoff and pulled the item.  It was a cigarette case with the above scan on the front with an added purple background.  Those links to t-shirts are fanart rifoffs too. Ugh.   :nono:

Hey, long time no read.

Well, as I was telling Doug (who alerted me about this), it doesn't surprise me in the least.  Last year I bought a set of Futurama playing cards whose images where mostly from The Futurama Point (a few mine, too) for a buck in a store here in Argentina. Why would the 'net be any different? The fact that they chose that pic of Leela (which was the first I did by hand and then scanned) makes my ego inflate quite a bit  ;)

(edit: though a link to TLZ in the lighter would have been cool!  :laff: )

Here's another link to the cigarette case I found in the completed items list.

You can tell it's a cheap knock-off when the name ends with "Futurama Simpson".

So what, they print out a picture and glue it to the front of a cigarette holder? That makes it worth the $7.

Hey, I recognize that gradient in the background! It's the one I put on the image to send it as a wallpaper for CGEF... a long, long time ago (the image is still in one of the last pages of Wallpapers at TLZ, dunno if it's still at CGEF). So, the guy didn't even add the background, that's all basic Paint Shop Pro usage!  :D

Has anyone e-mailed/contacted the auctioner to tell them? It'd be funny to see their reply.
