Okay, you know the drill. Reviews, opinions and discussion on todays Futurama episode. Keep spam and off-topic chit-chat to a minimum. I'll probably chime in with my thoughts in...oh say 71 hours, 32 minutes and 52 seconds. Let's get those SPOILERS rolling.

Let me start by saying that I enjoyed this episode. Although I'm adamantly opposed to flag-burning, I can't help but smiling at the gruesome demise of 'Old Freebie'. I smile because, unlike protestors, Zoidberg ate the flag to celebrate its inherent values it represented. I'm also amused by the concept of Freedom Day, which doesn't celebrate any actual momentous event wherein a right or liberty (yes, there is a difference) was secured. One of my favorite bits was the occupation palace's rampage and crushing of ironic billboards. The Supreme Court scene wasn't that great, but most of the rest of it was pretty good. 'Old Man' Waterfall was pretty funny ("You can crush my body you'll never crush my spirit...Ow, my spirit!" ). I had to explain the hilarity of the Klingon Embassy's girly motif to my brother, but I found it funny the first time.

Worst...Xmas...episode...ever . Boring, no funny jokes to be found anywhere. For such a short show, I actually fell asleep watching it. Watched my tape of it later and it didn't improve on second viewing. I never agree with any of Matt Groening's political points on this show, but it doesn't matter if it's entertaining. The heroic lawyer (I actually did laugh at that) had no funny lines at all. Body parts falling off may have seemed funny to them on paper, but come on. The only good aspect was to make me appreciate how good the Cubert episode was.

The episode looked like a bunch of big fat dumb oafs chasing a football to me. I swear I have the worst FOX affiliate in the galaxy. There's just no justice in this world. I say we blame the president.

They sure cut the hell out of that jaccuzi section. They must've cut like 10 or more scenes out. They added that scene with Leela & Amy taking off their clothes, which was a plus, but no close shots with everybody talking in the jaccuzi. And gone is the gag with the professor wearing a Beatle wig. At least they left my Act 3 stuff pretty much intact, with Fry launching the missle & Zoidy burning the flag & blowing up the Palace of Oppression. I'm glad they kept in that gag with Waterfalls' hand popping off of the flagpole.

What can I say but - Freedom, freedom, freedom, freedom - oy!! Fun episode and much in the vain of That's Lobstertainment and Why Must I be A Crustacean in Love? Heavy on the Zoidberg and plenty of fun stuff. A bit of commentary on the whole free speech thing as the topic of flag desecration was the underlying theme here. Nothing brought out conflicting views on such topics as good as Old Man Waterfall. Another great character in a long line of Waterfall family members. Great job by Phil Hendrie again. I reallly liked the Supreme Court scenes and thought it was funny how all of the Court leaders were heads in jars except for one. That and what Nixon said about the Supreme Court and how the Constitution doesn't hold up well there. The invasion of the Decopaedons(?) was really cool too. Lots of 3D graphics here and some interesting war machines. Zap and Kif were also featured in this episode and I thought Kif was really drawn off model here. He looked like he did from the first episode Love's Labours Lost in Space. He just looked oddd. Speaking of Zap - go Linda, go Linda, go Linda! All in all a pretty good episode. I can't wait to see what people outside of America think as this was certainly full of American ideals and contradictions. That and a hot tub scene! Although I was wondering what happened to the scenes that Sarge had posted but figured they got cut - really looking forward to the Season 4 DVD's now. I was really looking for something truely gruesome from your previous post on this Sarge but a fitting end to say the least. RM

Do they show scenes that were 'cut out' on the 1st Futurama DVD?

Ooo, a full animatic? That sounds fun. Animatics usually have scenes that were cut.

What's an Animatic?
Here, the show also looked like a bunch of people chasing a football.
After downloading it (as I've had to do for 3/4 of the new episodes because of football), I think it is really only worth a 3/5, and no more. You can't rate it higher just because it is new, try comparing it to some of the older, better episodes. It wasn't too bad though.
I found it picked up half-way through.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I must admit that I wasn’t particularly looking forward to this one, but it turned out better than I expected. Out of the three Zoidberg centred eps, it’s not quite as good as the awesome ‘Why Must I be a Crustacean in Love?’ but it comes reasonably close. The reason I wasn’t particularly looking forward to this episode though, was because the second Zoidberg heavy episode, ‘That’s Lobstertainment’ is my least favourite out of every Futurama episode. It lowed my hopes for this one, but luckily Harold Zoid wasn’t to be seen, thank god! and this episode was a hell of a lot better.
I laughed out load at the beginning with Zoidberg on the table doing the hilarious freedom dance, and then Fry joined in, class. And the plot was really cool, and there was plenty of things going on, and loads of great one-liners from plenty of characters. I liked the way that Zoidberg didn’t steal all of the episode, and gave Fry, Bender and Leela more time, and we also had some great Zapp/Kif interplay. It was great to see the Hyperchicken lawyer again, and Morbo too. I kinda wish that this episode would have been done with Morbos race invading Earth instead of Zoidbergs, because Morbo always threatens Earth and the puny humans with an attack one day in the future. But the Zoiderg angle still worked very well, and it gave the opportunity for some amazing computer animation of those crab spaceships from Zoidbergs planet. It was really well done, and I loved the designs, and the smooth animation and the way they moved, especially that giant crab mobile walking down the street. Overall a surprisingly good episode, but not the best.

This was a great ep. A knee in the crotch to the white house (and their actions as of Bush entering it), but they layed it out so that Bush wouldn't think it was a shot at them! Brilliant ep!

Well it was too heavily biased towards the underlying message (about the ridiculousness patriotism and such), the jokes were O.K. but not the best. Like when Hermes said he had broken his wrist. That was predictable. The one about Zoidberg telling his story while Fry yelled "We 're not listening!" was predictable too.

This was a good episode. Nice to finally see some political satire again. Not as good as "A Head In The Polls", but very few episodes is.
Old man Waterfall was not quite as good as the other members of the clan, but still had a couple of good lines. "Ow, my spirit!!" And the handthing on the flag was funny. Hopefully his great-grand-daughter is better
Both Nixon, Kif and Zapp was their brilliant self. "Perhaps the Decapodians have aqcuired our secret codes... somehow." "Well, let's storm the place....without my prior knowledge." "Arroooo, maybe so, but I know a place where the constitution doesn't mean squat" (Cut to the Supreme Court)[/list] Any episode with these three characters can't be a miss. Zoidy was good as well. His childhood story was hillarious. Good scenes with the Nimbus and the Decapodian warships. Absolutely LOVED the scene with the Klingon Embassy. What could elevate this episode to legendary status? You guessed it. If they had included the cut hottub scenes. Roll on season 4 DVD's. Well, at least we have Sarge's artwork to show us what we missed. Overall, good episode, nice satirical comments.
