I've given this some consideration and come to the inescapable conclusion that my all-time favourite episode is: Fly and the Slurm Factory.
Mainly because of the bit where fry can't stop drinking the slurm... classic.

Anthology of Interest one. or the Howling. Both episodes kick ass. Series two isnt the best series though even if both come from it. Series one is the best.

The Deep South
Time Keeps on Slippin'
The Problem with Popplers
Jurassic Bark
War is the H-Word (good call on the "sexlexia" line Tornado, makes me laugh every time)

All bashers of War is the H-word suck. That's probably my fave. "This ham gum is all bones!"

S1: Fry & The Slurm Factory
2nd The Space Pilot 3000
S2: War Is The H-Word
2nd Raging Bender
S3: Anthology Of Interest 2
2nd Insane In The Mainframe/Time Keeps On Slippin'
S4: Where No Fan Has Gone Before/Crimes Of The Hot

Newflash people, there's no such thing as season 5. When is CGEF going to start using production or 'actual' seasons as the base of the Ep guides? Don't we want to have as little affiliation to FOX as possible? And yet, CGEF justifies their terrible airing schedule.

I'm guessing because more people are familiar with the airing order than the production order.  I admit to not having a clue what the S3/S4 production orders are.

Newsflash newbie, we've known and talked about this for ages. Why don't you write and tell them? Also (i'd say) they use Air-Seasons because:
A) More people know them
B) You can just add the newest episode to review on the end
Also they have links in most sections to sort by production order.

Ok, I'll do it this way, a top 5:

A Tale of Two Santas- Some hate this, but when it comes to the wanton destruction and nutty capering (not to mention the Neptunian X-Mas song) I couldn't stop laughing.  It feels like an old Looney Tunes cartoon, what with the Prof wielding a gun at Bender ("Professor!  Didn't you hear what I told you?" "NO!!!" ), a nuclear missile getting lodged in an elevator, and of course, when all the Santas appear, as well as Santa's pal Jesus!

Roswell that Ends Well- A great retro episode, and the trick that happened with Fry and all was just funny.  That and the Professor's total washing of his hands when Fry does the unthinkable.  And Zoidberg, can't beat that 'buffet' segment, or even Truman's interrogation, or- oh, heck, Zoidberg was in his prime in this episode.

Put Your Head on my Shoulder- 1 name: Amy Wong!  Yep, sorry but I have fallen for her cute charms, adorable voice, and her futuristic lingo ("spluh!" "sploops!" ).  That and the whole thing where Fry complains she's smothering him, and then begins to make a list of everything, as well as one of the funniest scenes I can recall ("Ok Fry, we're done adjusting the bra." ).

Mars University- Yep, it's the monkey.  The moneky just made the episode for me, as well as one of the best 'Good will Hunting' parodies ever (You like bananas?  I got her number.  How do you like them bananas?).  That and of course, Bender and the Animal House parody just cracked me up (RO-BOT HOOUUUSSEEE!!!!).

Fry & The Slurm Factory- can't help it, I'm also a sucker for musicals!  And while it was devoid of the traumatizing blueberry scene, the Slum Queen did give me a bit of trauma.  Though the whol allusion to Coke was great (yes, that's why we'll market it as 'New Slurm.'  Then, when everyone hates it, we'll bring back 'Slurm Classic,' and make billions!).  That and the Grunka-Lunkas, and the obessions where Fry still can't pull off from his addiction.

Wow I really need to pay attention to this section more... anyway my fav eps are:

1. Love and Rocket - I laughed my ass of watching this, and i liked the develoment between Fry and Leela

2.  X-mas Story - again a hillarious episode I couldnt stop laughing.  I loved the Scene where Fry is trying to decide between the 500 lizards and the parrot.

3.  A flight To remember - What can i say, good episode (and im a sucker for Fry & Leela  oh well)  But i also loved the crossover joke in Amazon women in the mood... how bender throws away the Countess De La Roca's Bracelet.

4.  Time Keeps On Slipping - Great episode, touching Ending.

Historically, my personal faves (in no particular order)have been:  The Problem with Popplers, Where No Fan Has Gone Before and Roswell That Ends Well.

BUT - one thing that the Cartoon Network reruns have taught me is that even "bad" Futurama episodes wipe the floor with 90% of what is presented as "comedy" on TV.

Case in point "Why Must I be a Crustacean in Love".  I saw this only once before a long time ago and for whatever reason, it didn't stand out in my mind.  I also knew that it was considered one of the weaker episodes on various polls among fans, which probably only belittled it that much more in my mind.

Then - I saw it again last week on CN.  I got a half dozen good laughs out of it, which is 6 more than most TV shows can give me.  A grin, yes - a chuckle, occasionally - but a *laugh*? Almost never.  And this was a "weak" episode of Futurama!

I know that some people have always liked that one, but my point is that every episode of Futurama has enough good things in it to make it worth watching again and again.

So - I am tempted to just answer the root question of this thread, "What's the best episode of Futurama" with a safe "The last one I saw."

Ask me again in a couple of months and again in a couple of years.  I'll wager my answer will be the same.

This may not apply to everyone but it certainly does to me. The reason that isn't a stand out episode is because there isn't a supporting storyline, like a lot of the weaker episodes. There was nothing wrong with the Zoidberg storyline, the problem lies that there was no distraction from it.

After seeing Deep South again, I have to list that as one of my favorites. Non-stop laughs, and some of the best dialogue ever featured on the show.

Leela: Yup, ocean madness, alright.

Fry: Aw, every time something good happens to me, you say it's the result of some kind of madness. Or I'm drunk. Or I've had too much candy!

Professor: Well. Ocean madness is no excuse for ocean rudeness!

"The Luck of the Fryrish" edges out "Parasites Lost" for me. Probably because I'm not a big Fry/Leela shipper.

"Luck" is just a very very masterful piece of storytelling, IMHO. The writers knew exactly when and how to reveal certain parts of the story. "Jurassic Bark" also does this to an extent, but I'm willing to admit the ending is slightly less masterful than "Luck"'s or "Parasites"'. That's my vote for best episode overall.

However, the best episode in terms of jokes has to go to AOI2, purely for the middle segment   ;).

And I have to agree about "Leela's Homeworld". There was no build up to the pay-off. This is probably due in part to the scene in "I Second That Emotion", which meant that a lot of people (especially on boards like these) already knew (or had guessed) about Leela's parents (let's see if they can avoid the trap in "The Why of Fry" ).

EDIT: I just realised virtually ALL my favourite episodes are from the 3ACV batch. Go figure.  .
