Hey folks, been lurking for about 18 years.

Do any of you know how I can meet Ken Keeler like at Comic Con somewhere? I know he’s semi-retired but I think it would be cool.

Also, has anyone ever met him? Or anyone who works (I'm using present tense because I don't like to use past tense when it comes to Futurama) on the show? Please share stories!

Apologies in advance for having nothing constructive to add here, but I just wanted to say that I find the premise of this thread so utterly charming. (I suppose someone else might find it stalker-ish or creepy, but Ken Keeler is by far my favorite Futurama writer, so I am sympathetic to your quest.)

In any event, considering he checked out on the fan-engagement aspect of the series well before "Meanwhile" aired (see: his reluctance to appear on most commentary tracks from season 6B on), I can't imagine he'd be an easy fella for any of us to track down at this point. Alas...

Oh, and welcome to PEEL--18 years is a hell of a long time to lurk!

I dunno. It could be easier than you think.

Ken Keeler is a member of whichever organization represents writers in Hollywood. They'll have his address on file. Now, giving it to you might be something you have to convince them to do via more underhanded means than the usual simple phone call, but that's always worth trying as a starting point.

If that's not going to work, then you should prepare a list of people to impersonate who may be entitled to that information, and you're rumbled during that process then perhaps it's time to plan a small break-in so as to simply steal the information you're looking for.

Once you have his address, you just need a van, a roll of carpet, some chloroform and a few burly friends. Pull up to Ken's house, muscle your way inside once he answers the door (or after giving him chance to answer it and then breaking it down), chloroform him, roll him up in the carpet and duct tape the roll closed, then you and your friends can take him back to your house to dip him in quick setting plastic and add him to your collection, perfectly preserved forever.

I'm assuming that's the point of wanting to see him in person, since that's what I've been doing with all of the more trusting and naive PEELers I've met up with over the years.

I thought for a moment you were speaking from experience, but I doubt you'd be desperate enough to go to California.

Thank for the compliment, Gorky. It’s an honour to talk to ya. What would you ask him if you could?

I guess it’s a comfort that none of us can track him down. I don’t live in the US, so I guess I thought you’d all be seeing him all the time at events and such, and I was missing out.

How do you know he was reluctant to appear on the commentaries?

He’s just so amazing. Have you ever read ‘Strange Romance’, (by Henry Stephen Keeler-no-Relation) the story that part-way inspired ‘Time Keeps on Slippin’’? Alsoooo, have you seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3GBQTPTb0k&t=1567s ? If you keep watchin' it, he debates Eric Kaplan and my whole mind is blown...

totalnerdundercanada (did you used to be called TotalNerdUK?) you made me chuckle. Nah, this isn’t actually a kidnapping thing. Just kinda want his attention. Only a bit of it.

(And cheers for the welcome, Gorky. I hope PEEL is always here).

I don't know why this impressed me so much.

Welcome to PEEL, RaymieC! I wish you luck with your quest to find Ken. Perhaps try tweeting Lee Supercinski (@supercinski)?

Heheh. I remember some PEELERs from years back too, Kryten, Slurm, Spaceangel... always thinking about where they are now and if they had a nice 20 years.

Thank you DannyJC13! Great to talk to you! Oh man, that's a good idea but phrasing is gonna be hard... have you ever met anyone who works on Futurama?

Yes, I did (without the capitalization). I moved to America a few years ago and [-mArc-] was kind enough to commemorate this with a change to my username.

Anyhow, there is a way to at least see if Ken Keeler will be willing to give you some of his time. Tweet or cyberstalk Matt Groening and/or David X Cohen and ask them if there's any way they could put you in touch with Ken Keeler.

If you do this, please let Ken Keeler know he won an award from us a while back (the showrunners and writers are at least peripherally aware of PEEL), and it would be nice to know that he has at least been made aware of the prestigious honor that has been bestowed upon him.

That’s amazing! That explains the flag on the cat.

I’m think I’m just gonna ask someone else the questions I always wanted to ask Ken Keeler, which might actually be better. I just wanna know such basic things, like what food does he like and what music does he listen to. Those are so important. So, if anyone knows, hit me up.

Wow that thread was such a trip down memory lane! I remember Juliet! She sure did love Bender. The award thing is so funny. I wanna know where he was when he wrote ‘Overclockwise’ (and if he actually knows what Fry and Leela read (not that I want to know but does -he-), although it’s almost certain I will never ask that, not without us laying on a car bonnet in the middle of the desert with a joint) but the music thing is more important lol

Sorry to double-post, I could never work this thing (hence lurking all these years). That’s a truly excellent suggestion re: Lee Supercinski - are they close? Do you reckon he knows what kinda food Ken Keeler likes? Wish David X Cohen had twitter!

John DiMaggio is coming to a comic con near me soon, maybe I’ll ask him. Would be incredible.

I THOUGHT I WAS SPECIAL.

I'm going to agree with Danny and tnuc, reach out to others involved in Futurama on Twitter.
