Personally, I'm betting the premiere will be bumped/pre-empted until February, 2003. No Olympics this year, so I'm optimistic it'll be before March.
We could get lucky. Maybe the NFL will move their season up to early August to cover the MLB season-ending strike. Nah. Maybe if I weren't a Futurama fan. But since I am, my karma has doomed us all. (Sorry, boned us all.)
Believe it or not, it could actually be worse. Last year, the creator of Babylon 5 prepared a new series set in that universe. The production of the series was contingent upon the success of the pilot movie. Because of several boneheads - the one who did it, and the others that never noticed - the pilot was aired during the Patriots-Raiders snowbowl. This, of course, was the most-watched football game in decades. The new Babylon series was never produced. It died that night.
Football may have killed Futurama slowly over 4 or 5 seasons, but at least we eventually got to see it.
