It's hugely positive news. It had felt as if this was truly the end (I don't think many people genuinely believed Into the Wild Green Yonder was the end - from what I remember, almost everyone expected the show to be picked up).

Obviously, it's far from an official confirmation of anything, but from the way Billy West talks, it does sound like there's something in the works and he was the one to reveal the news of the DVD movies way before they were supposed to be announced. I don't see why he'd lie about such a thing, so all that I can imagine is that he's being slightly misquoted, he's retelling things to sound more positive and definite than they were or they actually are "going to do more".

Billy did mention that the show could possibly come back with new episodes on Netflix. Now, I'm one of the tiny percentage of people who don't actually have Netflix, but I sure as hell would be willing to pay for it every month if it meant new Futurama episodes. Of course, I could watch them online, but I think anyone would rather watch TV on an actual TV. Besides, it's not like I wouldn't be getting anything else from Netflix.

Same here, man. Watching it on the computer just doesn't give you the same effect as viewing it on TV does.

I'm happy they're coming back! I knew they woldn't stay dead. I'm glad Matt is so persistent when trying to revive this show. It's also great Billy is telling us all this news!
I think it would be awesome if they did more DVD movies- sure the first 4 weren't perfect, but they're still fun to watch evey once in a while. I'd like to see what they could do now, after more experience. I hope they get picked up by a channel more popular than CC, though, such as FX or Sci-Fi  or something like that, so they get the great ratings they deserve. Here's to a new season of Futurama!

(Wow, 20 pages already? Time for a new thread....wait, what would we even talk about on there after meanwhile?)

FX and Sci-Fi both sound like great homes for Futurama. The network I'd really love to see pick up Futurama is Fox, but only if it got a time slot after 8:00 and was advertised regularly. But Futurama going FX or Sci-Fi sounds more realistic than going back to Fox.

Whatever channel it ends up going to, I have a feeling that in a few years, I'll be watching Season 8.

I thought this was the end, too.

When I woke up and saw the news, I was extremely Surprised. I was about to pull the plug on hopes of a renewal, and write a nice, big goodbye.

Sounds like optimism on Matt's part to me.  But... I want to believe!

FOX would definitely be the best home for Futurama, but like you, I also believe the more likely future home of the show would be FX. FX is probably the second best home for the show. I believe it would fit great there and FX has the money for Futurama to make those great episodes that we love to watch.

I think TBS would make for the perfect home for Futurama, with all of their restrictions and such. With the restrictions, they can probably get back to using the witty/clever humor. But then again, TBS never showed interest in Futurama. Maybe they will soon. I'd love it if they went to TBS. But, a man can dream.

FOX definitely would NOT make for a good home for Futurama. It abused the show, and hated it from Day 1. I don't see why it would think any differently.

FX is the second best option. It'd do good with Archer, and would probably reel in more viewers than it has on CC. Plus, I don't think FX would abuse it like FOX, and may treat it like CC has treated it, but with better advertising.

CC used to advertise the show well. Since Season 7, it barely advertised it. Only on it's network. Hell, there's still Facebook comments on the Futurama page from people who had no clue they changed the schedule to Wednesdays.

Yea, Fox probably wouldn't treat Futurama any differently than they did back in those days, but if they did change their minds for some reason and actually treat the show with dignity, then I think that in that case Fox would be the best home for Futurama. But of course, that will never happen.

As for TBS, they have picked up several shows cancelled by other networks. Look at Cougar Town. I've never watched that show in my life, but I know that it was canceled by ABC and revived by TBS shortly after. And now that TBS is picking up American Dad for 2014, Futurama would be a good show to pair up with it.

And didn't CC move Futurama to Wednesday 10PM thinking that it would help get more viewers. South Park is on at Wenesday 10PM, and that's CC's highest rated show. Honestly, though, I think it just confused people and hurt the show. I think Thursday is a much better night for Futurama than Wednesday.

My #1 is FX. Like FutureMike said, they would definitely have the budget needed to produce the show, and they'd get Futurama the ratings mt needs by pairing it with Archer.
TBS is a strong #2, also. They have alot of popular show on there, like Family Gay and American Dad, that would help garner futurama good ratings.

I doubt FOX will put it back on their channel. If they wanted it, they would have grabbed it after the DVD movies. Plus, FOX never liked it, so why would they like it now? Whatever channel it goes on, I hope they have enough csh to make the show properly.

Here's what I think is most likely:

1. FX
2. TBS
...
10,000. Fox

Yea, Fox definitely wouldn't bring back Futurama. They had their chance after the movies, but they didn't want it. The only way I would like to see Futurama on Fox is if Fox gave it the Simpsons/Family Guy treatment. But why the hell would they do that? They stopped caring about Futurama the second they realised it wasn't "The Simpsons in space".

I meant FOX would be best budget wise, but yeah I agree with you that they would treat the show horrible. I like your idea of TBS. TBS would be another great network for the show and it could be paired with the newly acquired "American Dad" for a thing like animation domination.

They're selling that black & white Futurama zombie art from Comic-Con on eBay, signed by the entire cast, Lee Supercinski, David X. Cohen, Matt Groening and Bill Morrison.

Description says the entire proceeds for the auction will go to "TLC (Tiny Loving Canines) an incredibly wonderful non-profit dog rescue in Simi Valley, California."

So, is this thread just going to go on until after Meanwhile airs? Or is it going to have to be replaced? We are at 20 pages, after all....... Could we just have it so that it goes on for more than 20?
