I've got really sad news. I saw this article and I didn't want to share it, but I guess it has to be shared. MuchAdo was right about the new showrunner, so here it is. For those who cannot access the site, here's what the article said: After a great renewal of twenty-six episodes for the seventh season of Futurama, Matt Groening has brought news that the seventh season will be its last. He says that "after [four] years in great production, [they] have decided that the show has gone on long enough and it is time to end it." Directly from Groening himself, our own Nellie Andreeva conducted an interview with him to discuss the shocking news.
Nellie Andreeva: So Matt, you've enjoyed making this show and you have received pretty good ratings and nominations, what made you decide to end the show so fast?
Matt Groening: Well, it wasn't too much of my own choice. One day, I went into the writers’ room to ask them how everything was going. I noticed all of them just seemed really tired of actually writing a good episode, so I said “Who wants to go outside?”
Nellie: That was what sparked it?
Matt Groening: Yes, that is. I was thinking to myself, I've been running the show for a long time now, but maybe it'll be time to end it myself before it does go stale. Yes, hold all your Simpsons jokes please… Comedy Central has been kind, but the possibility of another cancellation to my show would be yet another heart break to me. Nellie: That'll be quite interesting. Do you have an idea of the plot for the series finale?
Matt Groening: Yeah. We've got the plot already done, and now we're figuring out how to make it really good. In the episode, Fry and Leela end up getting married rather early after she accidentally gets knocked up. While the Professor offers a method to either end this upcoming birth or simply go to the past and prevent the night from happening, Leela begins protesting against it. The Professor then brings his one button remote that sends you 10 seconds back in the past into good use. This is just part one, the rest will have to be seen on TV, scheduled to air in September of 2013.
Nellie: Very dark. I'm noticing that you are taking a different direction to the series. Where is Zoidberg in the episode?
Matt Groening: [David X. Cohen] said that he would take care of a small subplot for that.
Nellie: Sorry for dragging this on, but we have one more question.
Matt Groening: Go ahead, I've got so many answers!
Nellie: After the show ends, will you decide to kick retirement and do another show?
Matt Groening: We are actually developing an animated series for FOX right now. It is intended to be a really crazy idea, but FOX is going to say no anyway, so I’m not even going to expand on that topic.
Nellie: It sounds really good. Thanks for sitting down to speak with Deadline today, Mr. Groening!
Matt Groening: Don’t call me that, Mr. Groening was my father’s name. Call me Matt.
Nellie: Okay, Matt…
Matt: No, actually… I want to be called David X. Cohen…
Nellie: Well that sums it up for this…
David X. Cohen: Oh yeah, the show actually has been renewed for an eighth season, but none of us are in control of it and Steve Callaghan is the showrunner from that point on.
Nellie: Good talking to you Mr. Gro… I mean Matt… I mean David X. Cohen.
David X Cohen: Actually, call me Kramer…
Nellie: Goodbye! My interview with Matt Groening was a little strange, and this is just after FOX's recent decision today to renew The Cleveland Show with a fifth and sixth season, both with full orders of twenty-two episodes. More details will be revealed, stay tuned!

if you're gonna be a little bitch about what i'm gonna say, ignore me or be prepared to get told off i'm glad the show is ending but In the episode, Fry and Leela end up getting married rather early after she accidentally gets knocked up. that's just stupid. the Futurama staff members are human deceivers. their souls are getting fried & they'll be dragged down to hell when they die. that's the price they pay for lying if you wanna know what's really goin' on in the Futurama world, check out my stories & art

It was pretty legit, but it got really weird when he asked to be called different names. I think he just gave out a small plot of the episode, not the whole thing.

Maybe one day, the actual creators will read my post and confirm it. I mean, if MuchAdo says it's true, then by all means believe him.

Sorry to sound like the "prophet in hindsight", but that fake was rather obvious: (but would have written the same should I have gotten up earlier, before the fake was identified ) - Someone who has never been on the forum (I do not count those 3 initial distraction posts) , nor a recognisable Futurama fan, finds that kind of news, and registers just for that ? Rather improbable, yet still possible. But that constellation in combination with him "making a typo in the link"? Who on Earth would type that link, instead of using the good-ole "copy/paste". Clicking the link was most certainly everyone's first action. And the excuse -why the article was not to be found- lacked any credibility. - Every writer/producer will keep that kind of interview mostly on the "casual viewer" level. That "call me David X Cohen" is pointless and the "Oh yeah, the show actually has been renewed for an eighth season, but none of us are in control of it and Steve Callaghan is the showrunner from that point on." is too much of a random insider joke, to be seriously used in an interview. Those are jokes suitable for a 100% nerdy chatroom, etc.. . But not on the already mentioned "Professional writer presents his product to the press" basis. - "We were to tired coming up with good episodes". Sure....those guys are professional writers, and they make the overt admission they are too lazy/unable to do their job properly? No way. Look at other interviews, most will be on a "this is the greatest season we ever done" level. So, all in all, should that guy need the triumph of having fooled someone, grant him that little joy

Don't worry guys, like they found out, it's all bs. I was just having some fun and I really hope it doesn't destroy the possible future of a fun impression with me. I am indeed a fan of Futurama and PEEL, so I'll be here for a while, but I won't do big crap like that again. Maybe...

I agree. The last episode of season 7 will be the 140th episode. I want it renewed of course, but 140 is a good run too.

That's ok! is a very inusual way to introduce yourself About the fake interview,at first I felt scared too,not because "Futurama was cancelled" was because the reason made me feel angry. Good that I did read that at 2:00 a.m and I went to sleep without think a lot about it. But now that I'm reading it again, obviously is fake at moment that you wrote "Cleveland Show gets renewed for 2 seasons" and your final episode plot wow! I have to say it you have some nice ideas!,I would watch it too! I do love Futurama, but I think worrying and fretting over whether it will be cancelled is pointless and counterproductive The world will keep turning, and we'll always have Futurama in DVDs or over Netflix.
Exctaly!( same when people fight about characters and shippings) but you have to admit it,is a sad new if that happens someday, personally I don't mind if Futurama finishes as long they have a very good reason and a good ending.
