I am know I am supposed to feel something about this, but truth be told, I don't really care that much whether Futurama goes another season or not.
Because even if it had, it would still be in limbo between whether it would be picked up again or not, creating an atmosphere of a show that is on life support. That always felt wrong, and killed the mood for the new episodes for me. Because the thought was always in the back of your head, 'this show might not survive the year out'.
I wanted a regular show, something where the concerns of the makers wasn't constantly whether they'd get another season, and thus had to tailor their season finales to suit a possible ending of the show in general. I want a season to end on an episode like "Fry and the Slurm Factory" again.
That won't happen like this. So in that way, I think it is probably for the best.

Hey, did anyone notice this: which features such guests as Larry Bird, Sarah Silverman, George Takei, Adam West, Dan Castellaneta, and Burt Ward Sarah Silverman = Michelle. Plus we've seen Seymour in the preview. So that hints that we'll definitely be having a flashback episode OR time travelling back to 1999/2000/early 2000's is involved.

I'll come straight out and mutter a mild Finnish curse.
Perkele.
To be frank though I'm more disappointed than depressed. I think my emotions are entirely different to what they were the first time. I think having the show allowed to have a second, well, third lease of life, plus the slight enthusiasm-sapping nature of how the seasons have been split up, the DVDs barely appear in the UK, and how I'm unable to really marriage the newer stuff with the "Classic" pre-first-cancellations episodes...it's all served to lessen the blow of the show's most recent demise.
I do take heart from the notion that everyone behind it still seems keen to continue if there's enough of a chance going and there are, well, theoretical possibilities that may lead to the show's continuation, in one form or another, but at the moment I don't feel quite so inclined to wring people's necks in order to make it happen, as I did those times before...
/edit - also, what Svip said.

Aww, nuts, it's cancelled again.. Really a shame, was hoping they could bring it back to the old quality standards, there have been some really great eps scattered around the new seasons even if it hasn't been consistently good. I'm not too bothered about seeing it go as I was the first time, when it was killed in it's prime. I don't think the show ever really recovered from the cancellation... when it was brought back it turned into a different kind of show, more "family guy" in style with the humour with IRL references and crudeness forming the bulk of the funny rather than the original run which had a lot more of its humour being character based. With the exception of a few great episodes the new run felt like a different show somehow. I really think some of the writing has been to blame, the plots just haven't been very sci-fi, and have tended to favour some "generic liberal political thing" as the plot, but with a "futuristic" twist. Still, would have liked to see it go on a bit longer. I guess 140 is a good run, and there's no guarantee that any newer seasons would have been an improvement on the current "1-3 good eps, rest bad" that has been the status quo for a while.

Ah man I just heard, The strange thing is, earlier today, me and my brother were saying how great the show was/is, we said how the first 4 seasons just flowed like a cool breeze on a hot day, I even said "it's my fav TV show ever" Then we said how we were going to watch through the whole show from season 1, at the end of the week, so we could watch it for the next couple of weeks. Then I go online and find out its axed My fear is the show already lost momentum after the first time it was axed,( I still love the CC seasons) if it somehow gets picked up by another network, we could be talking years and I fear the show will never get back to its prime status of true awesome.

Boy, its been a while since I logged in here. Sadly, it's due to the recent news of one of my favorite shows being cancelled (again). At least they had a good run, and I'm cautiously optimistic that someone will pick it back up. The fanbase will make sure of that.
Lets never stop trying my friend, Let us not let the show die, It still has a good 3 or 4 season in it.
You know, The Cleveland Show IS AXED, maybe they are still looking for replacements..? But seriously. I just had a feeling in my gut that this was going to happen. I mean once speculation grew like 2 months ago, I just had a twisted feeling that it was over. I'm definitely going to miss the show. Last episode airs on September 4th, which has always been a very....Special day to me, since 2010. Too many reasons why. I still, just can't believe it's actually cancelled. Way to go, Comedy Central! They've been slacking on the show's advertising since last year, by ALOT! But to think in a optimistic way, this is probably for the best. Also, if they are going to air episodes out of production order again, I don't really mind. I mean thinking about it is ALOT more annoying than it is. Also, I'm going to be waiting for that movie. Waiting and waiting, Year by Year, Century, among Century.......I will wait for it! Even if it takes a thousand summers......

I love Futurama, but I'm not signing the petition. I am in favor of it dying a peaceful and beautiful death. To everyone involved in making this show, Comedy Central, and FOX, I would love to shake your hands and tell you how great of a job you did in making one of the greatest animated series ever to air on television run as long as it did. I enjoyed what entertained me and I wish for all to have successes on future projects.

Fry and Leela are getting married.
But will Fry survive? I mean, the idea of the dramatic tension that it'd generate and the possible awards that they'd win have to have occurred to the writers. Killing Fry off at that point would be an outstanding piece of television. Here's hoping that the writers have the stones to pull this out of the bag, eh? The final shot could be of Fry's slowly cooling body lying prone on the floor whilst Leela, having had her last kiss from him just moments ago, weeps inconsolably. Then a song over the credits to make the audience tear up a little. I really think that this would be the best possible note to go out on, in terms of dramatic impact. Fry's death would literally be the best thing to ever happen to the show. The writers would be showered in awards, and probably money and prostitutes too.

I'm pretty sure Fry isn't going to be killed off simply because the writers thought Season 8 was definitely going to happen, so killing him would be sort of less emotional after you revive him the very next episode. Might be a good plot point for the episode though.
I hope not. Season 7A alrady put Fry quite a lot on the backburner, and I missed his "point of view" role. "Killing" the Protagonist, to Keep him mostly of the the potentially last episode's plot just feels wrong. Personally, I would prefer a classic "Be the hero, save the day, get the Girl" plot. Without any catches/strings/"punishment" as in the episodes before (e.g. Saving the universe, with others for a change noticing, saving Leela without trying to throw his life away, etc...). After 140 episodes, I just feel that character deserved his unconditional big moment.

Update: My dog is okay, but the show is dead.
I actually hope "the Simpsons" is next. Then FG and American Dad! after that. Then Bob's Burgers after 100 episodes. Then Archer after 8 seasons. Then Venture Bros. after 8 or 9 seasons.
Then.. I shoot my T.V. in the face.
bobs burgers was crap the first episode and i dont know who watches the simpsons
