As we all know, production season six provided some real gems, but also proved remarkably inconsistent, sinking to depths that put original run clunkers to shame. As an experiment, I chopped the episode order in half and culled thirteen choice episodes to assemble my hypothetical season six. What do you all think? Would there be any complaints about the revival if this had been the first season we got? I left the episodes in chronological order, but they could be shuffled around a bit to make the beginning of the season less "death" heavy.
1. Rebirth 2. Lethal Inspection 3. The Late Philip J. Fry 4. That Darn Katz! 5. The Prisoner of Benda 6. The Mutants are Revolting 7. The Silence of the Clamps 8. Law and Oracle 9. The Tip of the Zoidberg 10. Fry am the Egg Man 11. Cold Warriors 12. Overclockwise 13. Reincarnation

That could be Amy/Nibbler.

That would essentially turn it into "The Fry show" (although to be honest, I wouldn't mind that given how Season 7 has been so far).
^This There isn't much Leela, which is another reason I think Mobius would go in nicely.

There were three "lesser" episodes I considered to be in contention for two spots: Fry am the Egg Man, That Darn Katz!, and Mobius Dick. I picked Egg Man almost entirely due to my soft spot for the line "Bullets make you talk?!", I picked Katz because it comprises the only notable screen time Nibbler got all season, and I ultimately left out Mobius because, despite some interesting backstory, I disliked how out of character I perceived Leela to be in the episode. Nonetheless, replacing Fry am the Egg Man with Mobius Dick might help balance out the hypothetical season a bit more.

There is nothing wrong with Mobius Dick at all. ('Cept maybe Leela, but that's it.)

Damn, does that bird got swag.
Anyway, I think this is an interesting idea, Hans. Your proposed thirteen-episode season would have been a lot better than 6B was, at least; it probably would have been right on-par with 6A, though, which I think of as slightly less enjoyable than season three (though it has approximately the same ratio of hits-to-misses as the sometimes-uneven third season does). Hmmm...when I average it all out, 6B actually comes out slightly ahead of 6A. Which is strange, because I seem to recall 6B as a particularly excruciating season to slough through--presumably because it was front-loaded with average-to-shitty episodes, and the truly enjoyable stuff didn't come in until the last three or four weeks of the season.
In any event: for kicks, I can rank seasons 6A and 6B separately, and then compare that to the handpicked season six you're proposing, to see if it would have made such a big difference...
Season 6A Rebirth - 7.5/10 In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela - 7/10 Attack of the Killer App - 8/10 Proposition Infinity - 3/10 The Duh-Vinci Code - 7.5/10 Lethal Inspection - 10/10 The Late Philip J. Fry - 10/10 That Darn Katz! - 6/10 A Clockwork Origin - 7/10 The Prisoner of Benda - 10/10 Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences - 7/10 The Mutants Are Revolting - 8/10 The Futurama Holiday Spectacular - 5/10 Overall Rating: 7.3/10
Season 6B The Silence of the Clamps - 5/10 Mobius Dick - 8/10 Law & Oracle - 9/10 Benderama - 7.5/10 The Tip of the Zoidberg - 6/10 Ghost in the Machines - 4/10 Neutopia - 6.5/10 Yo Leela Leela - 7/10 Fry Am the Egg Man - 9/10 All the Presidents' Heads - 7.5/10 Cold Warriors - 10/10 Overclockwise - 8.5/10 Reincarnation - 10/10 Overall Rating: 7.5/10
Hypothetical Season Six Rebirth - 7.5/10 Lethal Inspection - 10/10 The Late Philip J. Fry - 10/10 That Darn Katz! - 6/10 The Prisoner of Benda - 10/10 The Mutants are Revolting - 8/10 The Silence of the Clamps - 5/10 Law & Oracle - 9/10 The Tip of the Zoidberg - 6/10 Fry am the Egg Man - 9/10 Cold Warriors - 10/10 Overclockwise - 8/10 Reincarnation - 10/10 Overall Rating: 8.3/10
Huh. A whole point improvement over 6A, and something close to that for 6B? Not bad. It helps that every single 10/10 episode of the entire sixth season is included on the hypothetical roster; even lousier episodes like "The Silence of the Clamps" don't bring down the average much.
