I'm also not sure what to think about "Naturama". I haven't heard much about it from the writers (which, if you remember, the writers were talking, and promoting, "Reincarnation" long before it was released last year) it's also co-written by Eric Rogers who has written some fairly good episodes but the other two writers have only, so far, written this one (and I'm not sure that it's the brightest thing to do to let new writers work on such a strange episode concept as this). I also don't know what to think about Eric's comment on this episode "Different kind of story this time, but funny as ever!" which, to me, sounds like he's not that impressed by it (it may just be me however) So yeah, I don't know what to think about this one...

I'll reserve judgement for both episodes until they've aired, but I am rather intrigued by Naturama...

Today on the preview, Horse-Copter and Spring Dog:

I also don't know what to think about Eric's comment on this episode "Different kind of story this time, but funny as ever!" which, to me, sounds like he's not that impressed by it (it may just be me however)

I think he was just trying to say the concept or whatever is different to something they're used to working with but the humour and jokes are essentially the same.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to "31st Century Fox."
I'll join you in that minority - it was only BE I wasn't too keen on, and perhaps D3012 (because the American political system confuses me - heck, even my Aussie home politics confuse me!)

Wonder how often Fox gets bagged in this episode ~ stupid like a Fox :shifty:

Oh, and I'm on the fence about "Naturama," too. It's an interesting--if not somewhat cutesy-seeming--concept; I just hope the writers don't completely muck it up.

Another 40% joke (:D) and a new "Bite My ___ ___ Ass!" joke, which we've only had like 2 of this season, both not even from Bender. :)

Also, can an American please tell us non-Americans what happens in the clip?

Bender is a very fat seal (sea lion?) who has become very popular with the ladies. Kif, who's jealous, laments that he doesn't seem to have a chance with one of them (which presumably is supposed to be Amy?) Bender then yells at the other seals (Kif, Fry, Hermes, Farnsworth, and I'm not sure who the last one is) to go away. Hermes and Kif retort, calling him fat, and that's where those two jokes come in.

Naturama is such an odd concept for an episode, even by Futurama standards. (Let's be honest, this show is remarkably bizarre) I think the writers are very much aware of this and know that they really have to be on the top of their game to make the episode work.

Similar to "Zapp Dingbat". The writers knew they had to be careful with how they structured the episode because they didn't want to assassinate the characters, in this case, Leela, Munda, and Morris. And it turned out quite nicely in my opinion.

31st Century Fox is going to be interesting. I've a feeling that Leela will play a fairly large role in this one because of her love of animals.

The Kif seal fighting the Bender seal is a super interesting character combo, seals or not. The only other time that could of happened was in 6ACV04, right?

Thanks for posting all of those clips! So we're getting both eps next week? Yay!

It's been a while since we've seen a Fry vs Zapp, excited to see how the contest pans out. At least Leela wants Fry <3

Amys 'bark' made me lol, I hope Kif gets to be butch in this episode. (Is that a Leela walrus I spy?)

You know...I never like to pass early judgment on an episode, but Naturama looks....not that great. I'm really glad it's not going to be the series finale or anything. Some of those clips...ugh...

31st Century Fox sounds excellent though.

While it is somewhat amusing seeing the crew as animals, those clips were otherwise quite bad. Animals making awkward sex jokes isn't really my style of humour.

But hey, I doubt it will suck as much as TFHS. At least this one has the novelty of the crew in a different form.

Seems like a good episode. In short, it is still something innovative that has not been done yet. We should wait before saying if it was a good or a bad idea.

I sincerely looks good like episode.

In the where of too an opinion, there have many that be. In case of this one, where all think not quite in the mode of a same. Time won't not be the telling factor of this.

Do I have the right of your saying here?

See, I'm very pessimistic regarding "Naturama" (those clips didn't do much for me) but I'm fairly optimistic about "31st Century Fox". It looks like it could be a good, no-nonsense, fun episode and one elevated by the presence of Patrick Stewart and now, possibly a trip to future England which I'd enjoy.

The writing style is pretty clearly of an ESL (English as a second language) person, not a dumb one. Definitely no need to mock her.

I really don't get what it is with these animated shows and "trilogy" episodes that defeat the purpose of the show. I love the AOI episodes and Reincarnation, but most of those are actually pretty true to the characters and universe, just through a different lens. I enjoy the (older) THOH episodes but never gave a shit about the Simpsons re-enacting Shakespeare and the Bible, you know? I still want the characters, not animated avatars playing dress up.

Why would I want to watch talking animals? As opposed to any of the other countless animated shows I could watch for that?

I guess it could be okay, but the clips weren't promising.

I didn't have a problem with "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular" conceptually; it was just executed terribly.

One of my biggest problems with what I've seen of "Naturama" so far is that all three segments appear to be essentially the same. I wouldn't have minded if they did one segment along the lines of "What if we were all animals?" in "Anthology of Interest III", but three segments where the only differences at play are that they're different animals in each one? And from what we've seen, the primary concern of each episode is the mating habits of these animals, too.

My concern is that, from the one clip that my browser did let me watch, it strongly resembles that one segment from a "Treehouse of Horror" episode, where Dr. Hibbert turned everyone into an animal.

(And DotheBartMan, I wasn't mocking her; I was trying to welcome her with my very bad, half-forgotten college Italian.)

This is exactly what I was thinking. Even The Holiday "Spectacular" had slightly different variations of a somewhat similar plot...
