I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed Washbucket.   It was cute, I guess Washbucket can't float very fast, so Scruffy was trying to save her from getting squished.

I just realized that the "balcony club" scene would've been a lot better if it had gone long enough for this:

AMY: Stop the end of the world....(looks down)....sex. You know what? I'm just gonna wait a bit. (slowly closes door)

Later: Fry and Leela enter the room with messy hair and satisfied looks on their faces :laff:

Yes, but it's funnier this way. I think maybe they could have had a few seconds longer before Amy burst in (uh, out?) on them so they could have a moment where Fry is caught on a hook of Leelas bra or something

The mutilated arms thing did not bother me in the least. "A Farewell to Arms" is the only Hemingway book I like--its portrayal of love and loss was really powerful. Since it seemed for a bit that Fry and Leela's relationship was doomed, that Fry will never be in Leela's arms again, then their reunion was all that much sweeter. The cost of their limbs in exchange for their being together seemed just and fair.

I'm such a hypocrite: in one thread I complained about the punny and derivative episode titles, and now here I am saying how much I like this one. It just works. Okay, I am a sappy shipper, but only for these two.

Also: will their severed limbs decompose in space? Or not, because of the lack of bacteria? While y'all debate Mars and gravity and such, I'll be fixated on whether their arms rot and  putrefy, or mummify. Hmmm.

Edit: about the balcony club scene, when is the show going to have them f*** already? Are Fry's balls as blue as the Blue's Clues' dog by now?

Just realised, Fry has a lucky shoe ('Neutopia') and lucky pants. :laff:

This will certainly take a while. The old running gag was some "kiss that was interrupted the last second" ("A flight to remember", "X-Mas Story", etc..)
Now, it will be their "WOOO-HOOO ChuggaChuggaChugga YEE-HAW!" being intererrupted the last possible second.

They did already. They were in the Professor's and Zoidberg's bodies at the time.

Just because we haven't seen them have sex, that doesn't mean they haven't had sex (and there's also no way of knowing if their little tryst in "The Prisoner of Benda" was the first time they slept together, or merely the first time we saw the aftermath of said sleeping-together). I mean, Kif and Amy are together, and they presumably boink all the time without the show making note of it. Why shouldn't the same be true for Fry and Leela?

Leela seems comfortable enough suggesting the two of them get their freak on in "The Duh-Vinci Code," "The Butterjunk Effect," and this episode; to me, that suggests she and Fry have probably done this before. Moreover, I don't think their frustration at being interrupted by Amy on the balcony is of the "Now I'll never get laid!" variety. I think they're just frustrated because, like, they were just about to get lucky one last time before the world ended, and Amy had to ruin it for them.

I agree that it might be nice to get a genuine love scene between Fry and Leela (I mean, not a gratuitous one; who wants to see two animated characters doing the nasty?), but I don't think the fact that we haven't gotten one yet means that the two characters are horribly sexually repressed or celibate or anything.

Yep, sounds logical. And of course, in universe time, they'd have all the time in the world to do that stuff.

Yet, Amy and Kif are usually supporting characters. They got together very quickly, and from the beginning, their relationship was rather based on a "let's not make a big fuzz about it" assumption.

While Fry and Leela are main characters. Fry's endless chase (including rather epic deeds, like moving the stars, coming back from the end of the universe, etc...), the length of said chase,  already told the viewer that the Fry/Leela love story WILL be something to make a big fuzz about.

So (even if they have lots of opportunities to have sex between the scenes), their rather big love story layout requires -unlike Kif and Amy- something "official to seal the deal". Some aftermath like e.g. lying in bed, snuggled together, or a comparable scene.

Your post basically proves it: Yes, NO ONE bothered that Amy/Kif having sex is just implied, it is logical, and usually does not even have to be hinted at. While most people expect those hints/"make if official to seal the deal" from Fry and Leela. That expectation was imhO very directly caused by the writing on these two characters.

who wants to see two animated characters doing the nasty?)

Try to google for Futurama pics without "safe search" on, then you'll have your answer...depressingly many people. it seems...:(

Right, that's exactly what i meant.

I have assumed this whole time, since they officially became a couple, that they've done the deed many times--off-camera. Yet--and while I don't expect nor wish to see something explicit--I would like a scene devoted to some canoodling, even if the scene fades to black or the two characters move horizontally out of the camera frame, a la old movies before graphic sex scenes became acceptable. Or, I'd be very happy with a post-coital scene, just like in Prisoner of Benda, yet in their own bodies.

The writers seem to be teasing us by withholding. It's quite frustrating. Which I guess makes me sound like a pervert, but I'm not trying to be pervy--I'm emotionally invested in these characters' relationship so I want to see some sort of demonstration that's not half-assed.

This will certainly take a while. The old running gag was some "kiss that was interrupted the last second" ("A flight to remember", "X-Mas Story", etc..)

Should there be an entire episode filled with this gag, then I would like it titled "In Frygrante Delicto."

No, they wouldn't decompose. Any bacteria already on their skin would not survive in space for very long. All the water in their flesh would evaporate, and their limbs would essentially be freeze-dried. So they would float in space for a very long time.

The only thing I liked from this episode was "snake door, gotcha". Everything else was bad or unfunny and I was bored with it or thought it was stupid.

One thing I really dislike about this episode is the very beginning. The crazy random weather simply isn't funny. Also, the gag with Hermes shortly after was even worse.

Another thing: was the guy crushed by Bender rolling the calendar the same guy from the deleted scene in "The Mutants Are Revolting"? (The one who tosses his shoe at the spaceship.)

Yup, and the guy from Neutopia. He's known as the Falafel cart man. :D
