30.000 people are only allowed to leave earth, and the story features the Fry/Leela relationship:
Only one of them might be allowed to leave Earth, but not the other one.

yeah probably. i think the newest season might upset me more than the last but it's really the creator's choice what happens & i could be surprised. some of the previews do got me excited. just gotta chill since none of it is real lol

Same here, man. I am trying my damnedest to remain as unspoiled as possible for these episodes, but I don't know if I'll make it until Wednesday not knowing what awesome spoilers await me if I click Just Fan's link. Unless the spoilers are lame. I'm just gonna assume they're lame, which makes them less tantalizing.

As far as that clip goes, though: Yay for even more Zapp! Also, this episode looks like it's going to be all sci-fi and epic and fun; I kind of can't wait for it.

They do not take actions on minor bullying, but "A taste of Freedom" shows how bichty they can get when one of their species is about to recieve a big kick in the kajiggers

That was a great clip: I wonder what the selection process is for who gets to leave.  I knew those toroids on the ship were its propulsion system, I just wonder what kind of snakes can generate that sort of power!

Looks like a time travel plot is becoming more and more likely.  Or perhaps Fry gets frozen again and ends up in another Ice Age?

Yeah I don't know what to make of it looking again at that image because neither time travel, nor being frozen, nor going to a different planet would actually turn Fry into a Neanderthal, which is a physiological change.  ???

That's unfortunate.  Even though I thought the vast majority of his ideas were completely half-baked, I never wanted him gone.  Hell, for every ten (or maybe twenty) crap ideas he had there would be one good one in there.  That kind of persistence is going to pay off for him someday.

I don't know why, but for some strange reason I have low hopes for "Farewell to Arms". It seems like a classic idea, but telling by all the media I saw so far it sounds like it's going to be a little bit........bad.  Maybe it will even be somewhat like TBWABB. I don't know, but we'll see in 5 days!

Well....evacuating Earth in the face of Armageddon could spawn any kind of plot: From "Excellent" to "Complete Suckytude".

Futurama works imhO best when they do not try to spoof too much*.
So, staying close to the typical catastrophe movie might work best for that episode, while I "Let's give a new twist to EVERYTHING" might make the episode lose it's "red line" .


*(E.g. WithW went for a direct MASH and Starship Troopers approach, and worked in those scenes. While BBB did imhO deviate too much from the common Monster movie, leaving Ivo rather weird/strange instead of a spoof).

The solar flares do disrupt electricity, so I guess normal spaceships do not function any more.
The Mayan, snake powered ship will therefore be the only working one.

Ah, so most of the Sol System is probably f***ed then.  I mean, seeing NNY in ruins in the year 10,000 isn't such a big deal, since we know humanity has spread itself across the Sol System and the universe by that point, unless galactic civilisation as a whole has collapsed (which could have happened, considering Earth is a major member of the DooP).

I'm guessing the Amish spaceships are horribly outdated and impractical, and that there aren't enough of them to evacuate the population of one planet, let alone several.

I'm with SpaceGoldfishfromWazn.  The whole Universe had better be asploding during this crisis, otherwise what is the point of being part of an Order?  I mean, Earth is their most prominent planet and the home of their headquarters and flagship.

A solar flare that neutralizes every ship in the solar system?  I don't buy it.  Hopefully there will be an explanation for all of this that isn't too contrived.

Then evacuating 30.000 people to Mars would not make too much sense, and there'd be no rush at the Mayan Spaceship (after all: Where should it head?).

That wasn't meant to be taken literally, as I was exaggerating for effect.  My point was that there should be some reason why no ships are able to come to Earth's aid.  Either everyone else has problems of their own to worry about (a la civilization crumbling) or more likely there is some sort of field surrounding Earth that neutralizes all conventional starships that come within range. (Star Trek IV?)  I'll be a bit disappointed if they don't explain this at all.  Otherwise this whole 'only 30,000 people can evacuate' deal is a big plot hole.

Well, it's a Martian prophecy. Perhaps there's some way to stop it on Mars with some device or another prophecy. And did that new scene remind anyone of the movie 2012 when the people started getting loaded on the ships and the people who were denied access to come aboard started rallying in a rebellious fashion?

Hmmm.... if Earth is getting affected, shouldn't Mercury and Venus be getting evacuated as well?  Mercury seems to be pretty much abandoned aside from some truck stops, but isn't Venus supposed to be habited?  The Horrible Blobs are theorised to be Venusians (like the Venus de Venus).

I hope the Venus de Venus doesn't get her spewers burnt off.
