Let's keep the episode bashing for when the episode actually airs

I'm just saying it's a little irrational to write the show off completely over such small things as out-of-context still images or new character designs for one episode or even episode titles.

It's normally not "the first negative thing" to make anyone leave the  show.  It's rather one of many, many negative things accumulating over the years/seasons.

I'd never have left the show should the "Butterjunk Effect" have been the first sucky preview/subplot etc... to be aired.

For me, the show's sci fi theme was it's strong feature, but it also had enough annoying/unbearable features. I did enjoy the sci fi stuff, and tried to ignore the rest. But yet, Futurama has always been close to the brink of my "personal cancellation". One day, the annoying aspects were likely to "outweight" the positive sci fi enjoyment for me.

It was not the "Butterjunk effect" preview alone that made me quit on the show. It was the "Butterjunk Effect" adding that last bit to the "sucky parts" of Futurama. That last bit that made me realise that -by now- the accumulated bad stuff does by now outweigh the enjoyable aspects.

It will usually always be a small detail triggering the last decision to turn one's back on the show.  But it will usually not be that isolated detail alone triggering that decicion all by it's own, but rather the last one in a long chain of negative details.

Ignoring all the morons who are judging an episode's quality before we know even the slightest bit of info on it/it has even aired, what does the new podcast say?

Interesting.  It seems the reason for Leela and Amy being all over Fry is because he gets sprayed with a giant butterfly pheromone.

Also, the sport is played in a zero-g dome on the Moon.
This is what I got out of the podcast.

Not sure if you really care now that we know most of the information (Although if you're like me then just hearing Groening and Cohen talk is worth it) but here are the first and third podcasts (Not sure why the uploader didn't record the second but whatever...)

Ignoring all the morons...

Well, none of the "Morons" ever made an insult to people wishing to give that episode a chance. Maybe you should try to live up at least to those moronic standards ;)
Especially since you once complained rather vocally about a certain lack of social behaviour here on Peel, if I remember correctly ;)

Hi! I'm new! I hope you don't mind me joining in with these wonderful forums! I'm usually content to lurk and read the news and the many insightful posts but I thought there seemed to be a little more negativity than usual (not judging! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion) and I, being someone feeling extremely positive about the new season, might as well try and spread the positivity :)

I'm a huge Fry/Leela fan too, and I'm incredibly excited for this ep! (I also notice there's an entire thread dedicated to my favourite animated couple on these very forums I may have to pay a little visit to!)
Thanks :)

My Diatribe Reveal (Ignore if it doesn't apply to you):

Ignore that dude... I say things that get him going so easily.. and the sad thing is they are generic and never actually at him, such as: "Why'd they even bring the show back.. to give us new garbage!?"

He's not adept enough to know I'm being sardonic.

So far I haven't liked two image's we've been shown... but the way some talk about how personal this show is for them, you'd think they personally drew each frame of animation.

When I say wacky things like: FUCKK MECHA HERMMES;
I'm being sardoinc and making fun of  all the people who write things such as to the fact that if Fry and Leela are together now; that they are done with the series.
Or fuck Amy and Leela for both kissing on Fry.. that's the dumbest thing ever... just simply b/c any show is going to start taking chances by season seven.

The shows is always going to grow and change...
But yes honestly, things may upset us fans this season.
Just the simple picture of Mecha Hermes truly is the dumbest picture of the show I've ever seen... and it honestly, just made me sad.

But I won't give up on the show, or even the ep.... It's Ken's script... so I still got faith.

Anyway, I add things like "they should cancel the show.. grumble grumble"
b/c a select few... berate anything I say.. positive or not... so why not say crazy stuff... it gets little rubes so fired up.

Futurama's core is about to change... so buckle in folks!

Don't let my (or anyones) fake tirades and dumbass diatribes fool you... this season will be a blast!!!

I've read far to many comments complaining about quiting the show (not just on PEEL).. you have to watch it first before you can hate it or love it.

It's fine to have an strong opinion over an image or a clip... but to dump a show b/c Fry and Leela have broken the status quo.. and you haven't seen a full new ep yet.... no, just no.

But I respect the people who say they stopped watching the show when it came back, b/c eveyone's opinion counts... to the marketers trying to sell this stuff.. lolz!!!!

Welcome to PEEL, LetTheSunRain !  Cool moniker... :D

uuhhh...OK lol

that's me all right. she's not good for him & unless she can prove she has changed her crude ways, then i'll never approve. i just don't like seeing him hurt is all.

not sure if anyone will believe me but i had a family member help me with fortune-telling awhile ago & the cards told me if Fry was real, i'd have a chance. :) (he might be straight on the show but something else off-camera. similar to what "Home Movies" does) fortune-telling is good!

Ahahaha, I like that promo! Maybe this season will probably have a few original moments. But it really seems like that they're trying to throw in the stupidest ideas for the episodes so FOX will get some attention of the show and "hopefully" pick it up again.

It certainly worked since being picked up by CC because Futurama is now more popular than ever.  We have CC's kick ass advertising campaign to thank for that.  For better or worse, that popularity usually comes at the expense of shifting closer to the lowest common denominator.  IMO this is the preferable alternative to no Futurama at all.  :)

I concur.. but they can keep the Futurama characters true and let Bender do all the l.c.d. stuff to appease the masses, since it fits with his character.

I do hope for at least ten production seasons... on CC or other.
Fox may need Futurama back as well after the next two years.. as many of their animated programs look to be ending in the next two years.

American Dad barely got picked up for another go around, and it started beating the Simpsons ratings as both shows seasons wrapped.

The Simpsons ratings are at an all time low...

Seth has stated he wants FG to end soon... but FG has great ratings still.

A.D! and Clev. are always up in the air each renewal.. but Seth has a good relationship with Fox.. it seems to have been helping.

Bob's Burgers (which I enjoy) has been doing just well enough to keep going.. just like Clev. it has squeaked by for a renewal.

So yeah, they (Fox Network Schedule) may NEED Futurama again by the time CC is done airing the next 26 episodes.

Here's to 2014/2015... Futurama is given The Simpsons 7:00 p.m. prime time spot, a hefty budget, with a full orchestra, and full network support.. obviously.

Second.  Especially on the orchestra part.  Missing that, more than any other aspect, is what has contributed to "new" Futurama not feeling like "old" Futurama.  I know Tyng is doing his best with what he's got, but it just doesn't cut it.

Ideally he would get his orchestra back.  If not, I would rather have him change the style away from the bells to something that works on synth better because it just doesn't work for me the way it is now.

And Chris and Caulder would still be involved heavily.. as always.. at increased pay.. it'd all be so awesome for everyone

And everyone involved in the gigantic crew would be getting paid more and can work with more everything... to make the episodes even better.

More animation staffers.. usually means better animation.. more money also equals a little  more time, more cinematic camera angles, and more money for re-takes.

A bigger writing staff usually means.. female writers.. which means.. good female characterization.

David Cohen could focus harder on showrunning (mapping out the entire series.. plugging old things into amazing new legendary reveals) instead of doing LITERALLY everything at once, as he does now on a CC cable budget.

What happend to Al Gore's daughter?
She should come back and write more eps as well.

More $$$ usually equals better everything for animation.
As long as they know where they want to go with the series and have an ending planned out... and not have 250 filler episodes and 250 good one's... *points* at Futurama's big bro.

Then I'm ready for... the Future....ama to go on and on for a long while still!

Why exactly? They're both being quite civil with their arguments. At least when there's differing opinions on the board, there's actually something to discuss.

I don't see any issue with being concerned for the show's future.

Yep, running gags are sooner or later usually subject to variations :)
(I think until now it has rather been the Professor delivering said variations, e.g. "Bad News, everyone". Okay, there was Amy "Aren't you gonna say "Good News, everyone" "No, I just said so for Fry's sake")
