Those outfits look at bit too "pinky-tame" for a supposedly agressive sports. I do assume the "I don’t know the rules of Butterfly Derby, but judging by this new still from the episode, I’m guessing it’s sort of a cross between curling and chess." is meant in an ironic way for a sports that seems to resemble "Roller Derby". Or did anyone find another still that shows a chess-board-like playfield, or curling like activities? Also, wtf is up with Leela's armpit? C'mon animators, you can do better than that.
Well...for a Leela-centred episode, that's more than good enough

Yeah, it's probably just a joke because I don't see how one could come to that literal conclusion from this image and I haven't seen any others to suggest otherwise.
Well, yesterday we've got the plot description: "Word around the campfire is, the episode finds Amy and Leela becoming addicted to "Nectar", a nutritional supplement that boosts their performance in the future sport of Butterfly Derby." There may be some lesbian nasty side effects, you know .

Don't want to sound negative, but just cannot resist that one: "I guess what's different this summer is Fry and Leela's relationship is progressing, and people who care about that will be delighted,"
Translation: "We used to put them 95% together before undoing it. But this summer, it will be different. We will put them together 97% before undoing it...isn't that great" (Na, to get serious: Do not wish to sound negative, but Groening calls himself a satirist, so he just has to be ridiculed himself from time to time )

"We chop more body parts off in this season -- maybe as much as ever," he says. "So yeah, we haven't lost that." I think Matt was talking about " The Six Million Dollar Mon" episode, which is written by Ken Keeler. The best Futurama writer in my opinion. In "The Six Million Dollar Mon" Hermes chops his body parts off to replace them with cyber components. .

I love the shippiness, but leela's biceps are freaky
Hm...for some reason, I think some "Strong arms of the Ma" remake (or at least incorporated/recycled elements) might be possible... (Which is not really something I would look forward to...)
