I can see this on 20/20...

It started innocently as a fan forum for a TV show, but when it got cancelled things got... wierd. We spoke to one man:
<AZ> (Face blurred) Yeah, it started as innocent jokes about killing for Execs, but then they evolved into plans... it was down the slippery slope.
<Chump> (fac blurred) When nurdbot started bringing his "special kool-aid" to the meetings, I'd had enough... it was a cult mentality...

What will become of this crazed group? Tune in next week.

I don't think the online Futurama community is dying, it just changes.

Those two former PEELers left for whatever reason and so did a lot of other vetrans.  But looking around I see plenty of post crazy 2002ers.  People will keep leaving, but I'm sure they will be replaced by new and fun members.

I think it could fade out. If the show gets killed, that'll happen. But that's not such a big deal, nothing lasts forever.

This communitee will last until such time as mArc feels it is time to pull the plug.  He'll either kill it or hand it over to someone else to own, in which case it may carry on longer.

Either way, I can't imagine it going away any time soon.

Nope, I'm sticking around for a while. There's forums for things that haven't been around for 20-30 years, so this board probably won't die whenever Futurama goes off the air. Most of the junk in OT isn't Futurama-related anyway.

Fred is trying to act like the big protective type by abusing people like Sarge who are riling people like Danny in jest. The funny thing is that because he hasn't been here long and doesn't know Sarge from any other poster, he comes off like a complete newbie jerk.

Also, I don't know about Danny. He's always come off as a great guy, but the way he's been overacting these past few days, I'm not sure what to think anymore. Is he just attempting to act cool by 'defending' his girl? Maybe it makes sense outside a nightclub or bar when someone insults you, but on an internet message board involving people just having some light-hearted fun, it comes across as pretty over-sensitive and moronic...

This community isn't dying. I may be turning into a sanctuary for the over-sensitive though. If this place turns into some sort of carebear community where thought crimes (or opinion crimes) are punishable by flame death, then I ain't sticking around.

Torq, stat spells his username with a small "s".  When I mention someone's username, I usually try to use identical casing.

Fair point about the here/hear.

As for me being involved in a lot of flaming:

*totalnerduk has a grudge against me because I inadvertantly caused one of his threads to be closed.

*Ben hates me because I dare to voice opinions different to his own.

*Sarge came on to PEEL last night with a bug up his arse, he said some pretty nasty stuff to stat, Danny and Juliet, and since all three of them are friends of mine, I came in on their side.

*I admit I went over the top with bartman and his many alter-egos.
