Is the community dying?

I've been chatting to one or two former Peeler's (Who I won't name) who seem to think that since the show's future is in doubt the whole online Futurama community is dying!   

I'm kinda depressed here cos I' just left college ( nothing to do all day till I get an IT job), my  part time job may be under threat (I work for consigna/The Royal Mail) and my favorite show is getting fucked over   

So really need to be kinda reassured here people

As long as Websites and this Message Board keep advertising the show, then a fan base will always exist, even if certain parties don't seem to be of that opinion.

As to Fox's opinion on the show, that is well known, so we are in the lap of the Gods on that one.

I did wonder the same in the days when we learned about the cancelation/hiatus. But the mean time have showed otherwise. PEEL is as busy as ever, there are a lot of really good sites out there, fanart is produced every day, fanfics are written, etc. And a lot of people still think a cartoon show is worth spending some time on. The community looks fine to me.

Whether the show ends next year or not, I'm hear for the long haul.  And there's NOTHING you can do about it! HAHAHA

Futurama isn't dead just yet with one more 'season' left. This is an inter-season lull that you get with boards. Once the next season has gone, we shouldn't let it pass into history though...

I don't think the community will die so soon, it will be still quite a while until every country that shows Futurama has shown them all so just because all the Americans and Brits have seen it all, people in other countries still have something to look forward to. Do you get what I mean?

I don't see the it dying just yet; there is still one more season at least although at the rate fox shows new episodes there could be more. When the new season starts no doubt as well as discussing the episodes we'll be moaning that it is getting bad treatment etc. Even when new episodes stop being made, if it continues to be shown as repeats, new people will come to the show and want to chat about it.

As long as we have interest in the show and in communicating with each other, the community will carry on.  Think about your physical neighbourhood: people move in, people move out, but the community remains.  Same thing here.

Hmm... My post rate to PEEL has dropped big-time since I got myself another job. But i'm still as involved as ever, and with (at least) another season to go there's plenty to talk about IMHO.

It shouldn't be dead yet, we still have a year's worth of unaired episodes watiting on Fox. Even if they cut of our typing fingers, there's still room for voice chat!

Brits probably wont get to see all the episodes until at least next year, and with FOX constantly screwing the show over then the Americans will probably not get to see all the episodes for quite some time too. And with the Videos/DVDs being released at approximately 9 month intervals, that means the 4th series of videos wont be available until about 2004. And don't forget it is likely that repeats will be shown at least in countries where the TV bosses have the sense to realise this show is the SHIIT. 

I don't see PEEL dying for a very long time. It will probably happen eventually, but it will be a long time coming. I know because I have seen it happen before on the Driver/Driver 2 forums and web sites. The forums started up in about Spring 99 (Oh the good old days) and it took until about the beginning of 2002 before it dyed off properly, even though Driver was released on 25 June 1999 or 8th July 1999 for Americans. Now there are very few Driver sites left on the net, mine isn't there any more  and the forums get very few posters, but the moral of the story is, it took years for it to happen.

I wouldn;t worry if I were you.

I think 90% of PEEL are Delivery Boys or lower, and they're all older PEELers too.

and to an extent it is dying... not all because of the show cancellation either. I sorta am PEEL slacking mostly because of school. I closed AU, but that was again for personal reasons rather than the show, though I couldn't continue to update much without new material. Anyways, its not going to die, though it will decline slightly.
