Hey guys,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before (I couldn't find it in the search function), but does anyone think members of the Futurama staff trolls these boards?  This is a pretty comprehensive forum with a large number of members - I wonder if anyone from the production studio actually reads anything we write (opinions, suggestions, etc) and takes it into consideration.

Likely.  Where do you think the inspiration came from for that line Leela spoke in Neutopia, eh?

I wish Leela would stop bringing up the "fans". It wasn't funny the first or second time.

Very probable.
Message boards are the easiest way to get very detailed "customer feedback" (apart from ratings, etc...) .

I would if I worked for a show. Diehard fans' opinions are more important and meaningful than some random magazine or web site writer.

Hm..I think both are equally important.
The shows rating-delivering audience is made up of die-hard fans as well as casual viewers.
As Peel delivers only the harcore-fan's opinion, general TV boards will rather deliver the casual viewer's point of view.

Yeah, I suppose the casual view is more important ratings-wise.

Since when do "trolls" and "takes into consideration" mean the same thing? :p

But I agree with Tofu_Lion... if I worked on a TV show, I'd definitely look at the online forums.

Trolling is a fishing practice. You cruise around and see if anything bites your lure/bait. The internet usage follows it in spirit, but is clearly derived from it. When you see "trolling" your mind should first leap to fishing, not to internet troll tactics.

She said "fans" but I'm pretty sure they were mainly referring to Freako, lol.

They've mention gotfuturama on the commentaries before, and overlord [-mArc-] has been in direct contact with the staff, so they know this place. Whether they constantly hit the F5 when the new episode review thread is up I don't know, but I would venture they don't because I think our critiques could drive any sane writer insane (look at KurtPikachu, for example...).

We know that Eric Rogers read Offtopic, at least the TV forum, spurring those nasty tweets regarding people's opinions here on #TheWalkingDead (if you don't know what I'm talking about go a few pages into that thread and you'll see).

But personally, if I wrote something I felt was brilliant, I wouldn't want to read other hardcore-nitpick-every-minor-detail nerdlinger's critiques of my masterpiece, as it's far too late to go back and change things now.

TLZ and Rule34, where most of Freako's uncensored work ends up.

So if you believe that they do indeed read our posts and acknowledge our opinions on the show (all good opinions, of course :D), what would you say to them?

I guess I would first:

1) Commend them on creating such an awesome show
2) Thank the cast (voice actors, the writers that DID return to the show, producers, etc) for returning and maintaining the excellence that we've all come to enjoy
3) Ask for some sort of subliminal shout-out on an episode
4) Beg them to never stop making this show!!!  LOL

OK so I guess with that out of the way, do you have anything to ask them?

(all good opinions, of course :D),

Really? To be honest, I don't see many people enjoying the new episodes... (I do, talking about others...)

4) Beg them to never stop making this show!!!  LOL

Not really up to them, it's the network's decision...

From what I've seen, 80% are enjoying the new episodes, though not necessarily liking them more than the old ones.

I've only seen a couple that actively dislike them.

That's not what I meant.  Whether anyone actually enjoys the new episodes isn't that relevant.  All things equal, we generally like this show, therefore, we'd have nothing but good opinions about it.  Or we wouldn't be apart of this message board, right? :)

And I'd still beg the production team for new episodes, irrespective of who's decision it is to extend the show.

I'm fairly certain that most of the staff want to continue for as long as possible. I mean, why wouldn't they?

I think the fact that many still rush to the internet to express their opinions of each new episode specific by specific shows that many still care about the show. If people outright hated the show, I don't think they would be watching it.

With that said, don't ever make another kid-themed baby singing episode, EVER. :p
