So when FOX bring Futurama back in 2005, with different voice cast, new character that bizzarley have the same names as the originals, and even look the same, and plots that will make your brain leak out of your skull in a desperate attemt to escape, will you still watch it?

Will The Simpsons fans watch it, as it will become a space-opera of Simpsonical Springfieldian porportions?

Do you think that maybe it won't happen like this, and they'll reinstate it as it was originally?

Will I ever stop asking questions?

What makes you so sure that it will come back TWO years after season five, or that it will be canceled before then?(I know the second one's a long shot, but by no means is the decision final, I just stay optimistic)

as Joe25 said, to answer your first question, one must presume that FOX will continue airing it instead of throwing the entire show in garbage can!  :(
btw on the countrary, I don't see why Futurama should become a "simpsonian" show, you can't say that by now...

Is this crap true? Is this like the time when they remade The Flintstone cartoons in the 1970's?

yeah, right
even with the awful decision to put Futurama "on hiatus", this doesn't mean nothing (for now, indeed)
even David X. Cohen noticed that also "Family Guy" was put "on hiatus" for a while and then reconsidered it letting the prodution start running again...
The main point for the moment is: will Futurama finish its days at season 5 or not? Of course we all hope not, but for now we can't say anything else before FOX executives don't pick a real decision on the mess they did...

i think ive more or less accepted the fact that Futurama is gone for good. It sucks but hey thats Fox for ya. I guess i'll just have to live vicariously through fanfics. Either that or develop another unhealthy obsession with another show. And to answer the original question if the charactors don't at least have their original voices and are still behaving in charactor i am sooooo gone.

tis will truly be a sad day indeed when/if FOX drops Futurama in the can.

I agree with Venus, and accepted that Futurama's finishing next year.  But I still think there'll be some sort of closure at the end of "The Devil's Hands...".

There had BETTER be some closure at the end of The Devils Hands and it had better be shippy or the collection of dead bodies in my closet will get much much bigger!

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best - then you can only be pleasantly surprised.

I doubt FOX would ever try to bring Futurama back after it has been on hiatus, but if they do, I'd give it a try before judging.

I don't mind really if they do bring it back but altered as long as they don't completely screw it beyond recognition and don't change any actors. If they do, I'll be even more pissed than if they just cann it because they would completely ruin it rather then just let it go while it's still good.

I'd watch it for sure! I guess it's like sports; you  cheer for the team even though the players come and go.

I'd give it a fair chance. After all it's Futurama, and given that many things are interconected, and part of an overall plot Matt and David thought out it'll be pretty difficult for any new crewmemeber to screw it completely beyond recognition. If they're available I have no doubt the voicecast would come back in a heartbeat, they all, particularly John DiMaggio, seems to absolutely love the show. And with the voiceactors in place, we're off to a good start.

The writing and animation staff, now that's a bit more tricky. Some will probably be back, and some wont. As long as the quality doesn't decline horribly (as in my brain leaks out, and my face begin to melt Raider of The Lost Arc-style), I'll stick with it.

Or maybe they should just cut their losses, and head on to Futurama: The Next Generation (I mean, we already got Jade, and that looks like a good start to me  ;)).

I agree with Teral and Zed85
wait for Fox final decision - in the worst case, wait again for Curiosity Company & Matt Groening next move-
in the meantime: hope, don't ask
btw all you can do is inviting people signing the petition - nobody of us can do more than that... unless of course you have billions enough to buy the rights, produce and air the show by your own    ;)

bye

Yeah, and most time that seems completely fake or just sucks anyway.  :hmpf: I pray to God that this doesn't happens with Futurama - although, like Teral said, I do believe most cast members would be more than willing to do Futurama again. John Di Maggio really in perticular.  :D

Considering that Matt Groening has got bored with The Simpsons, if Fox drops his last creation, Futurama, what will he do? Has he got new ideas for the future or is trying to find a way to continue producing new Futurama episodes before developing a new cartoon?

When asked, Matt said that he was hopeful that Fox would renew it later, but if it wasn't he would try to go on to "Bigger and better networks" with it.  He has some thoughts on other series but I don't think he has even begun planning them.

and what about copyrights? Even if Fox gives up with the show, perhaps will mantain its rights in order to disallow other networks producing and airing new episodes based on the plots of the old ones... (practically the show as we know it)
btw which are those networks? would they be really interested in a show like Futurama?
(no, really - I'm no US citizen and don't know which networks are the most popular or the strongest above the others: for example, how's considered FoxTv?)

Just reading a review of Futurama in the TV guide thing (It was under "Today's Choice" along with Space Cowboys, Die Hard and Cricket: Norwich Union League! Yay!)
"The comedy animated series continues to go from strength to strength, and is now starting to be spoken of in the same revered tones usually reserved for The Simpsons." Very nice. Get the feeling that they haven't heard about the cancellation. Oh well.

there isnt even one magazine or newsite that has dissed Futurama, its gotten wonderful scores and grades everywhere. The only one that hates it is FOX, and they hate it for reasons that are totally off compared to any corporations nr 1 priority: Make money. Futurama makes money for them, no question. Why would they cancel it?-----
i guess we'll never know...

Fox is ranked number 4 behind NBC CBS and ABC (incidentally, fox is rated #4 because of the simpsons.  They used to be a cable company.  I don't think he meant one of the "big three", but more along the lines of it being a derogatory statement towards fox.

Copyright stuff can be complicated, and this is a complicated situation.  The main thing is that Matt G keeps talking about moving networks, and he knows more about if he can switch than any fan.  He has said many times (even a little on the DVD) that he owns Futurama.

Personally, I think the only way to switch networks is if Fox sells the copyright, or allows a different company to make episodes (that is what fox did with buffy on WB, but then backstabed WB by switching it to UPN when it got popular again, a company they own stock in).
