After watching it again, I really think its a great episode. Just take this scene...

Fry: English please

Zoidberg: A fight to the death [clap-clap-clap-clap]

Edna: And if you survive, we'll make sweet love [clap-clap-clap-clap]

Fry: Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrggggggghhhh

PS: The intro music at the fight reminds me to something. If I just would know to what ....oh my god, I am starting to sound like Farnsworth

That's the famous "Fight Theme" from Star Trek (the classic series). Also, the two weapons that Fry doesn't pick are a "lirpa" and an "ahn-woon", Vulcan weapons that appeared in the classic episode, "Amok Time". In fact, a lot of the plot from the episode (alien goes into mating frenzy, must return to homeworld for mating, forced to fight his friend to the death) was stolen from that epsiode.

It could be just me, but I have vague memories of that music cropping up in an episode of the Simpsons too! Or possibly another episode of futurama....but then I'm becoming a bit "Farnsworth" lately too!

It was in 'Deep Space Homer' and the two Nasa dudes said something to each other, but it was some star trek reference and having never watched Star trek i dont know what it was.

That music also came up in that great scene from The Cable Guy

That music has been spoofed on alot of things... Also about geekosity... We have this little kid at my school who always walks around with a little star trek... whatever it is called... the little things they wear... they talk to the ship with it (in the next generation on atleast) and you just wanna go POW... um... anyways...
