FATSF is great...not exactly one of my most beloved episodes, but still great. It definitely has some great moments.

The first part of the episode is pretty entertaining, and has some great gags and scenes. I enjoyed seeing Fry and Bender trying to win the Slurm contest, going around New York with the F-Ray, trying to find the winning bottle cap. I've always enjoyed seeing city scenes, with the characters going into all the various places around it, and this episode has a great example.

The crew going through Wormulon also has its great moments, such as the boat ride. I enjoyed the Grunka-Lunkas, though I didn't really care Slurms and the rest of the worms.

Best part of the episode, in my opinion: Fry, Leela, and Bender getting into the real Slurm factory and discovering the true ingredient of Slurm. Adventures featuring just the three of them are fun to see. Fry's addiction to Slurm was a nice little thing to watch, with him trying to save his friends whilst drinking the Royal Slurm.

So, yeah, once again it's a great episode, and also a great close to the first season.

8.5/10. I guess I could round it up to 9, but I already hit 8.

I like that episode.
Especially the showdown, which had just the right amount of balance (for me) between classic plot and new twist (Leela as Damsel in Distress chained to a trap as classic, and Fry as a hero to the rescue, but not fighting enemies, but his own addiction as new, ridiculous twist).
It's rather easy to be too close or too far away from such a classic plot, but FatSF was just right regarding that balance :)

This is a great episode. It's a really well-done parody because not all of it is a parody of Willy Wonka, just parts of it (the concept of the factory, the Grunka-Lunkas, the contest thing) but other parts of it like everything that happens after the trio splits off from the group is original and brilliant. I also love the city scenes and the F-Ray and think Slurm itself is pretty funny. Plus, this episode brought us "Tell them I hate them!" so it has to rank highly.

9/10.

The beginning of the episode where bender and fry use the F-ray around town, just hilarious.

I haven't seen this episode for ages, so I can't really do a full review on it. But from what I remember, I enjoyed it. 8.0/10

I swear that's the part where some fucking funky futuristic Chris Tyng music kicks in.

You know, that's really the only part of this episode that I'm particularly keen on. Never having seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (though I read the book on which it is based when I was younger), I can't appreciate the parody in acts two and three. So that stuff falls kind of flat for me.

But the first act is really funny. In fact, what may be my most oft-quoted Futurama line--"Damn, chico, one more upgrade and I'll be more lady than you can handle. Why you so stupid, stupid?"--comes from act one. It's just a solid, entertaining seven-ish minutes. The same cannot be said for the following two acts.

This is by no means a comprehensive review, as I have not seen this episode in quite some time. But if I had to rate it, I suppose I'd give it a 6/10--slightly below the average for Futurama, but by no means the Worst Episode Ever.

I think that the other acts had some solid jokes. Like the part when Fry was drinking the Slurm and Leela said: "Fryyyy!" And then he drank it again.

Having basically grown up on Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka, I definitely appreciated the parody. I loved the Grunka-Lunkas and thought they were great. What I really liked about this episode, though, was that part of it was a parody but everything after they left the tour was all original. It was very well-crafted.

Love that line. I love it when they just have the trio, the interactions between them are hilarious.

Truly one of my favourite Futurama eps, in fact my second favourite to be precise! This really is loaded full of great humour right from the start with all of the great F-Ray scenes which were fantastic! The whole Wormulon trip was full of awesome scenes and humour too. The parody worked so well! One of my favourite scenes is where Fry tries to gnaw his own arms off to get to the Slurm through the grate...

The ending is also good, in fact there is nothing I don't like about this ep. To me this is exactly what Futurama is about in its purest form, the humour and the characters, with some decent art direction and animation. It's a little sad seeing Slurms MacKenzie die, but at least he died the way he lived...

Great episode, I love the parodies that this show has done. Especially Mobius Dick.
