Doubt it, the syndicated episodes are getting over a million views, that should be enough to keep the show going for a while... Plus the merchandise sales and new episode viewership...

Also, don't forget what FOX said in August 2009:

It’s going to do its run on Comedy Central first. They really saw continued commercial business on that and fan interest and that’s what led to that order. It’s a good show, we like the show. It’s not out of the question [to pick it up on Fox], but we have not committed to picking up that option yet.

I guess it's probably even more likely that Fox will want to air the show again now than it was in 2009, too, what with this mad scrabble they're dealing with to replace King of the Hill with something that doesn't stink - not to mention the seemingly imminent cancellation of American Dad!, Seth MacFarlane's desire to end Family Guy, the recent troubles with The Simpsons and this new animation block that they're launching.

Not that I ever see it happening.

If Futurama doesn't last long with CC (after Season 7), I really hope FOX pick it up... :)

I think the show's pretty safe in its current state till at least season 9 or so - assuming that the quality doesn't take a huge dip.

I think as long as they put out something on a par with RTEW and TLPJF at least once a season, and something on the same level as TPOB and THBB once or twice a season they'll never be accused of dipping in quality overall (except on PEEL). Which means they should be safe for another couple of seasons. I also think they'll make it to season 9. I'm not so sure about where it'll go after another couple of seasons have taken their toll on the writers' imaginations though.

Hopefully they'll get some of the old writers back, and maybe some new ones. :D But the show's doing fine as it is IMO.

I'd love for them to bring in some free lance writers who either worked on the show previously (Lewis Morton who wrote only one episode in season 6 - "The Late Philip J. Fry") or just some guys who have never worked on the show but are big fans and know how the show is written...

I hope so. It's been so long since Futurama has been "safe"; it's odd knowing that it won't be cancelled in the immediate future. I seriously hope it doesn't go down the Simpson route and turn awful... (though I did get a "new Simpsons" vibe from Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences for some reason?)

Probably the Comic Con/Matt Groening panel.

I get a Simpsons vibe from Leela's Homeworld and A Big Piece of Garbage.

Well...having the whole universe instead of a small American town, Futurama should at least be able to stay "fresh" longer than the Simpsons:)
For me, "A Leela of her own" has always been Futurama Simpsons episode.
It was just THE typical "Homer Solo Career" (also the reason why I think that episode was quite okay. Not brillant, but okay to watch).

Kick ass workout in, now a little r&r before getting fancy for the #WGAawards tonight. Let's see if I can add to the #futurama trophy case.

I got the same vibe, though not necessarily a "new Simpsons" thing specifically. I think it's the plot. "Side character moves in with the main characters and they spend the whole episode trying to help him, despite usually having no reason to" is a well-worn Simpsons plot going back to Otto and Apu.

New Simpsons winning (as usual....) the WGA over Futurama is disappointing. Though, on the plus side, Colbert won!

I didn't know TPOB won last year. That's cool.

I'm just curious as to why a different episode from 6B wasn't nominated for the WGA. "The Late Philip J. Fry" was 6A's "Emmy shot" or whatever, and the second-best episode of the season was its (successful) WGA nomination. I think they might have had a better shot of winning this year if, say, "Cold Warriors" or even "Reincarnation" had been nominated, as I think those were the two best episodes of 6B.

That's not to say that "The Silence of the Clamps" was terrible (it was probably my least favorite episode in 6B, but I doubt it was worse than the winning Simpsons episode); I'm happy that Eric Rogers was nominated, because he seems like a very nice, dedicated guy. But that episode definitely didn't seem representative of his best work, or of the show's usual quality.

They always seem to pick odd episodes for the non-Emmy and non-enviornmental awards.

Mike Rowe got nominated for an Annie last year meaning that they either submitted "Proposition Infinity" or "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular" and "All the Presidents' Heads" was nominated this year.

I imagine they'll either submit "Overclockwise" or "Reincarnation" for the Emmies this year... although I suppose they might go with "Cold Warriors" or possibly even "Law & Oracle".

Just curious, where/when did you guys get the full production order episode listing for 6A and/or 6B?

I might be misremembering, but I think the final few titles left as well as which titles corresponded to which production codes were revealed by [marc] reasonably close to the premiere - presumably he got it from an inside source.

Why you all still gotta be getting on LrrNdnd? I found it very humorous, random, and classic old style Futurama comedy. On a similar note, in Silence of the Clamps when Clamps similarly came by Planet Express, I felt that didn't work as well and that seemed a tad forced.

Oh wait this is the news thread. Dang.

Danny: wouldn't that be on The Infosphere?

The end.

No one really cares about it,

In David's defense, they do. Saw lots of people on Twitter being all happy and joyful because they had put the new eps on.
