seriously, it bugs me so much that Leela's status as a fugitive is not once mentioned in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela," where she interacts with both Nixon and Zapp

You and me both, sister. I wonder, is there any way of asking the production staff why they chose to do it that way...?

I thought the Silence of the Clamps was a pretty neutral episode actually. Not terrible, but not fantastic.

I agree that Silence of the Clamps isn't the greatest choice, although not the greatest for Futurama is still pretty good compared to other shows. I would've submitted Cold Warriors. That episode had award-winning written all over it. Hopefully they use it for the Emmy noms next year.

Silence of the Clamps was okay, not great. That episode kinda feels like a "B", y'know?

I asked Eric, he said:

Zapp dismisses the charges, so to speak, in Rebirth, in exchange for being "reborn". It's quick but that's the reason.

Sounds like an ass-pull to me. But it's exactly the same ass-pull I'd have gone for, so fair dos, nice to know that's officially the reason.

And The Silence of the Clamps was a terrible episode. Easily the worst of 6B and one of the worst of 6 overall. I hated it.
Eric Rogers seems like a great guy and all and it's all such a collaberative thing that I can't really hold him responsible for it, but good Lord, that episode stank out loud.

It's a reasonable ass-pull. I can accept it.

I though All the President's Heads and Neutopia were the worst of 6B, personally, and would give Silence of the Clamps a B- or a C+.

Yeah... All the Presidents' Heads was a bit average.

But aside from two medicore episodes (Neutopia and Yo Leela Leela) one average (All the Presidents' Heads) and one merely "okay" episode (Silence of the Clamps), I think 6B was pretty awesome. All the rest ranged from good to fantastic.

I think, at the very least, Neutopia deserves some recognition for the sheer amount of creativity that went into designing the mineral world.  A lot of work and thought went into the planet look gorgeous and unique, and it shows.

Okay, that's the how. Doesn't answer the why though. Was there an objection to between-season continuity?

And it could have been done with as little as a single line from Nixon. No need to make a whole episode out of it - although that would have been cool too.

Hmm, I think I'm drifting a bit OT...

Perhaps but a lot of us did spend ages discussing why they didn't show Kif putting up a real fight when Zapp tries to destroy the ship that his girlfriend sometimes pilots when she is not a passenger.

just wasn't worth pursuing because of bigger implications of such a plot device. Plus, no one knew the show was coming back!

I'm sorry, I think continuity between seasons would have worked. Be the first cartoon to do it! But that's just me. Keep up the good work.

I'd love to go into more detail with this, but don't want to look like another obsessive fanboy...

People are a lot friendlier in the chatroom than on PEEL. We have a couple of amazingly retarded people in there on a regular basis that don't get too much abuse. Besides which, I'm sure that Mo would be welcomed with open arms.

If we have a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced op, is it possible to set up #fc or a temp room such that all submissions get routed to the op for vetting before they're displayed to everyone else?

We could set +m and only let people have +v when it's their "turn" to say something, that has been PM'd to an op first to check it.

I've been in chatrooms before with voice actors, where that was the way it worked. Really, #fc needs a dedicated and experienced full op team. There's really only Tweek and Flamekiller in there at the moment, and it's not quite enough to cover all the timezones, etc.

Somebody needs to speak to codefish about suitable candidates for the position.

Futurama has been nominated for two Annies this year.

One for best writing in an animated television production for 'All the Presidents' Heads' and one for best editing in an animated television production.

http://www.annieawards.org/consideration.html#1

It's a shame the Annies are such a sham - it makes it harder to be happy about this news.

Have you ever seen youtube videos where they make realistic cartoon characters? It's sorta creepy, and the odds of someone looking like Fry are low. Still, pretty cool though.

That photo, hmm, the clothes, ok they're sorta similar, but they're quite generic really. As for the colours, well a lot of people would have similar clothes to Fry aside from the colours really. Trainers, jeans, a jacket? Pretty common on any high street...

As for those realistic cartoon characters, there are a few Futurama pictures with them made to look real, and I've seen that Homer looking real on YouTube video, yes, very creepy indeed...

I know we have PEE polls but when did this become a PEE party?

Let's stay focused on newsworthy type things in this thread. All that talk of youtube vids of people cosplaying or what not you can talk about in the Websites/Reviews Forum.

I dunno, The Silence of the Clamps was a forgettable episode.  Except for the fact that people keep bringing it up.

Eric Rogers seem like a genuinely nice guy.  I think he might favour his own works a bit differently than the rest of us.  And that's fine.

Silence of the Clamps wasn't amazingly memorable, but it was funny and had really solid story construction (I'm an aspiring writer, I care about these things....). The only real flaw it had in my estimation was that the main mafia story tropes being used are kind of played out in pop culture by now, but it was still fine. Besides, we don't want one of those shitty Simpsons episodes to beat it, do we? I'm rooting for it.

The Annie nod for President's Heads is more questionable. I'd have gone with literally any other episode this year. I'm also bummed that South Park is apparently being snubbed or is otherwise ineluctable, since there's no way they don't deserve a nomination this year otherwise.
