So this is something I wanted to test out, seeing everyone's overall favourite moment(s) from each season. (I will give the other seasons threads, but only if this one works out.)

Basically, I'll leave this thread open for a week or a month or so, compile the most mentioned moments and make them into a poll, see how many votes each one gets, and there you have it.

You can post more than one of your favourite moments, but make sure they are from Season 1 ONLY.

Season 1 eps, incase you forgot:

This is so hard, there are just so many. If I had to whittle it down to just one then it'd be the ending of I, Roommate where Bender shows Fry the "closet" which is actually a huge apartment. Such a great moment and ending...

Honourable mentions...

Fry looking out of the window seeing the future for the first time in Space Pilot 3000 whilst being pleased he'll never see anyone he knew ever again.

Fry and Bender visiting the Suicide Booth in Space Pilot 3000.

Fry doing the countdown to the moon in The Series Has Landed.

Zapp Brannigan's pronunciation of Champagne in Loves Labours Lost In Space.

The rush of robots all over the place all perfectly timed like clockwork in Fear of a Bot Planet. That moment is just so awesome.

Bender jacking on in Hell Is Other Robots and going into a colourful trance frenzy.

Bender meeting the Robot Devil in Robot Hell for the first time.

Monument Beach getting blown up in When Aliens Attack.

Zapp’s bed making speech in When Aliens Attack.

The premature celebration of blowing up the Mothership which turned out to be the Hubble Telescope in When Aliens Attack.

Fry trying to gnaw his arms off in Fry & The Slurm Factory.

The tyre that comes out of the Hubble Telescope when it explodes in 'When Aliens Attack'.

Also Zapp's line "If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... check mate".

Fry: "So let me get this straight: this planet is completely uninhabited?"

Bender: "No, it's inhabited by robots!"

Fry: "Oh. Kinda like how a warehouse is inhabited by boxes."

Then later, as Bender is pissed and goes down to the planet, Leela says: "Hmm, he seems pretty angry."

Fry:  "Yeah but I guess I'd be angry too if I had to go to some uninhabited planet."

This is probably the thing that I get to quote the least, but wish I could quote the most. It's a brilliant moment.

Fry seeing the future for the first time, leading in to the first opening credits.

Bender giving Fry a hug in "Hell is Other Robots". Perhaps my favourite moment from season 1.

Leela being forced to ask for Zapp's help in LLLIS and having to ask "more sexfully." - "Pleeeeeease, Big Z?"

Bender's dream about killing all humans in "I, Roomate" and Fry's reaction.

Bender singing "She'll be coming round the mountain" in TSHL.

The slurm queen sticking her back end into her mouth and feasting on her own slurm after the trio escape with the knowledge of their "disgusting secret."

There's too many to choose, so those are just the ones that come to mind.

Space Pilot 3000
Fry, Leela (and Bender!) all being part of the moment in Old New York; I love how you get a sense of Fry and Leela's loneliness, and that the episode stops being madcap for just one second and delivers a bit of an emotional punch.

The Series Has Landed
-Amy and Bender discussing how to retrieve the keys  from the crane machine ("I know how to make love!")
-Fry and Leela in the lunar lander

I, Roommate
"I hate the people who love me and they hate me."

Love's Labours Lost in Space
"I might've liked Zapp Brannigan if he weren't a pompous dimwit who threw me in prison."

Fear of a Bot Planet
The cold opening of this one is my favorite.

A Fishful of Dollars
-"Now I'm off to some charity BS for knocked-up teenage sluts."
-"My ponytail's caught in the door."

My Three Suns
-"I take lungs now, gills come next week."
-Fry's story about the grasshopper and the octopus
-The "You don't like me and I don't like you" conversation between Leela and Bender

A Big Piece of Garbage
-The "With gusto!" thing DtB and tnuk mentioned

Hell is Other Robots
-The song

A Flight to Remember
-Fry and Leela admiring the platonic view
-"Shouldn't you be steering between the comets?"
-"And why isn't he here right now, fathering our grandchild?"

Mars University
The repeated sight gag with the Financial Aid dorm sign

When Aliens Attack
The Single Female Lawyer theme song ("Havin' lots of sex!")

Fry and the Slurm Factory
-"Damn, chico, one more upgrade and I'll be more lady than you can handle. Why you so stupid, stupid?" (I say that all the time...well, mostly just the second part.)
-Leela having to repeatedly smack the can of Slurm out of Fry's hands after they discover that it comes from a worm hiney.

Space Pilot 3000
-Bender: Bite my shiny metal ass
Fry: Doesn't look so shiny to me...

I, Roommate
-Fry and Bender Watching Calculon and getting confused while copying
-The Old lady taking ages to find the cause of the lost signal

Using the term "hiney" makes it sound so horrible, Gorky.  Surely Slurm is simply the gooey, slimy excretion of the glands at the opening of the ovipositor, normally used to lubricate and protect the eggs as they are squeezed out, yes?

I can't believe you forgot about these two:

"Oh, no room for Bender, eh? Well, I'm gonna go build my own lunar lander, with blackjack and hookers! In fact, forget the lunar lander and the blackjack! ... Ah, screw the whole thing."

"How awful! Did he at least die painlessly? ... To shreds, you say. How is his wife holding up then? ... To shreds, you say."

I went with the lunar lander scene...though the Robot Hell song is a close second. I prefer the former just slightly because it is one of the few instances in season one where the show is unafraid to have a slow and/or emotional moment--and those moments are part of what I love about Futurama in the first place. The insight into Fry's character is also nice.

For me, it's Fry seeing the Future for the first time.
We all know how far this series has come. This scene it basically Futurama's offical "launch", bearing a cult status by now that no other scene will imhO ever manage to achieve.
Also, the phrase "My God, it's the future. My parents. My co-workers. My girlfriend. I'll never see any of them again. [pause] Yahoo! " already hinted a not always nice humor would follow.

Still can't believe "blackjack and hookers" isn't popular around here... Oh well. From the remaining ones I picked the ending of I, Roommate, because it is both really clever and funny.
