I definitely consider Futurama as my favorite show at the moment. Currently it's the only thing I watch religiously or consistently on the television. I mean, I have a few shows I'd consider up there as my preferred shows, such as The Office, House, and more recently, How I Met Your Mother. LOST was up there too, when it ran, and it probably was my favorite show at the time. Something about Futurama just makes it great, and although the new season has been a little bumpy, I love it enough to stick with it.
I mean, I don't watch the same episode two or three times to review it in my mind with every television show I watch...

I think I watched the original airing of Futurama when I was just a little tyke and watched The Simpsons religiously, and I fell in love with the series then. I attempted to watch all of Futurama through when it aired but I don't know if I actually caught all of it, then years later when Adult Swim started airing it I fell in love with it once again and definitely watched every episode a couple times through. As I grew older and became gainfully employed I purchased all of the seasons and began watching them in order every night on my laptop as I fell asleep (something I still do). Currently it is the only televised show that I take the time to watch other than Archer which isn't airing right now so pshaw to that.

Quit hitting on the newbie! Well looks like 72.22% claim it's their favorite now, which is more or less what I was expecting, I guess. I figured the only people who would be posting here would have had to have the show as their favorite at some point or another.

Well...I wouldn't call it my favorite, for that rather implies a single favorite. But, yep, Futurama shares first place with other shows When I saw the first airing of Futurama, I have to admit I was rather "unimpressed" (for the German dubbing also eliminated non-pun jokes). I watched it occasionally on a "well..there's worse" basis. I changed my mind when I happend to see "Leela's Homeworld", when I thought "WFT? They acutally resolve such a long running plot?". Then I gave the English versions a try, and the show looked suddenly much better

That's good, don't act like who you aren't. I think you're now the youngest PEELer on the board at this current time. I think.

Where are you all coming from? How could you respond to this poll? You were in nappies when they first came out! Not pumpkinpie though. She was rockin' the womb room.

Newbie here.. I don't typically join online forums, but I felt obligated to join a forum with other fans of this truly remarkable series. And this is a long post, so prepare yourself. My thanks to all those that sit and read through it. I give you kudos. You know, I remember many moons ago when Futurama debuted on Fox. I was 12-13 years younger (obviously), and can't say I cared for much of the series. I saw a few episodes here and there, and when I found out the show was canceled I didn't mind much. I thought it was funny but I somehow knew that a sci-fi oriented animated show probably wouldn't appeal to the dumbed down masses (myself included) that loved the Simpsons. Back then, Fox aired shows such as the PJs and The Family Guy (still very much in its infancy, I might add), and King of the Hill. I thought they were all good, but all ultimately shared the same fate (canceled... but Family Guy returned from the dead). Anyway, I'm working towards a point here. A few years back a buddy of mine anxiously mentioned to me that the original voice actors were returning for new episodes of Futurama, and I replied with a "meh". I really didn't think too much of it - simply because I didn't have any fond memories of the program. Funnier shows such as toilet-humor South Park (love it) satiated my animated cartoon interest. A few months back I caught Futurama on Comedy Central and, with nothing else on television, decided to give it another "chance". As fate may have it, and it was probably divine influence, the episode "Godfellas" was on. I watched and nearly passed out from laughing the entire episode. I thought that it was pure genius how Bender played the role of "God" to the inhabitants on his body as he streamed across the galaxy. On top of that, the episode had a rather interesting moral that further added to the already genius plot. I saw my friend again, mentioned to him about that episode and said "Hey man, I caught a new Futurama episode and it rocked!" but he was confused - that wasn't a new episode, in fact, it was a much older episode from Futurama's previous life on Fox. Feeling like a buffoon, I shrugged it off and decided to explore the series a bit more. I took it upon myself to purchase The Futurama Complete Collection (the compilation of DVDs that come in a model of Bender's head) that included all of the episodes, and movies, pre-Comedy Central. I watched every single episode and movie in just a couple of weeks (loser-like, yes, but I was recovering from a recent ankle surgery and literally could do nothing all day or night). I felt like a complete fool when I was finished. Why? Because I could not believe what I was missing out on. By the third or fourth episode, I was simply sucked into the series. The writing, directing, producing, cultural references, maniacal Doctor Farnsworth inventions, inside jokes, and best of all, continuity, was just too much for, in the voice of Morbo, my PUNY HUMAN brain to comprehend. This show is truly a testament to a genius production crew. When I finished watching Into the Wild Green Yonder, I was in tears. And I couldn't figure out why. I knew the show continued after this movie, in fact, I was watching the new episodes on Comedy Central before I even bought the compilation! But it was the ending that did me in; it was watching Fry and Leela kiss while heading straight into the worm hole. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for a good love story - maybe after watching what Fry has done to win over Leela's heart (dying, time travel, etc) has me seeing a lot of me in Fry (minus the time traveling and dying ). I said to myself "Wow, imagine if they ended the series this way? I'd be infuriated!!" Thankfully that wasn't the case. I finished watching both season five and six and saw myself a bit more composed after watching "Overclockwise". And although I'm getting sick and tired of seeing these "we don't know if we're making anymore episodes" season finales, it brought some closure to how Fry and Leela's relationship materializes. Let's be honest, folks, the show's protagonist is Fry and his life in the 31st century. The main thing in his life is winning over Leela's heart. This isn't your simple run-of-the-mill program like the horrifically stale Simpsons. This show is actually good.I am beyond ecstatic to know 26 more episodes are on their way. But I want more. 140 episodes isn't enough for this series (total after next season). If the crappy Simpsons can find themselves making 497 episodes (albeit it's been running for a REALLY long time), Futurama, on account on the pure genius behind the show's production, deserves to blow by that number. Alas, we all know it won't. Futurama is truly a masterpiece. If you got this far through my post then I thank you. This was long to type and probably not worth your time. I'm honestly glad I can hang out with other Futurama fans and discuss the show. Thanks.

Welcome to PEEL futurIMAfan! That is probably the most well thought out first post I have seen from anyone. It is nice to see such fresh enthusiasm and proper grammar heh. Poke around some of the forums here, see what you like. We also have Offtopic forums as well that are non-Futurama related (blasphemy right?). I'm afraid I'm going to have to close this though, since these sorts of threads are not allowed here. I thought about merging your post in the General Discussion thread, but it's too beautiful here on its own. So I will leave it in its own thread for future generations to adore. Oh, and make sure to check out our WikiPEELia to see what's up. If you have any questions feel free to message me or any of the other mods. Look forward to seeing you around futurIMAfan!

It's a good post and it's always encouraging to hear people are giving the show a chance and taking to it. I always find it hard to understand how you can watch the show for a few eps back in the day and not be totally blown away by them, but I guess everyone isn't me and for some it needs the right ep, and time...

Simpsons used to be my favorite show...BEFORE Futurama's existence that is. Which is why I am now parting with all my Simpsons stuff. If I have to pick one show to give money to...definitely Futurama.

Futurama is easily my fave show of all time. It has been for well over a decade. Lost ranks up there, as does The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory, but nothing beats Futurama (except for the crappy eps)...
