Hi, welcome to Peel, fantafob ... They sort of did wander about a bit in My Three Suns, and I guess in other eps too. Another off the top of my head is Three Hundred Big Boys. I know what you mean though, I would like them to explore their local surroundings more as well, and a whole ep in which the storyline centres around enriching this part of the Futurama universe would be most welcome in my book!...

If it were a little taller I'd say it was a watchtower. But maybe it is both, a home base for the 'Exocoms' from 'Mom's Old Fashioned Video Surveillence Unit'. Those guys who busted Bender.

The thing is, will they explore NNY to its fullest, or are we just blindly hoping that they will as hardcore fans? Would they rather just tell stories like Yo Leela Leela instead? ...

Signoids.
It's Cygnoids.
In which case I blame Google for misguiding me. I typed it into Google before committing to posting it and saw the two top results as Futurama related and assumed that was enough to confirm it was correct. It seems that previous peoples mistakes have mislead me ...
Cygnoids (as the correct spelling) should be obvious to anybody who knows their constellations. However, for the rest of everybody, I feel compelled to point out that much like the designation Earthican, the name denotes their place of origin. They come from the constellation Cygnus. This is sometimes referred to as the Swan. Google Earth actually has a star map that'll let you find it and locate its position relative to you, so that next time you have a clear night you can go look for it.
