Something I have pondered for a long time, what is that building next to PE used for? It always has a Slurm billboard on top of it, the windows on the side facing the PE entrance are boarded up and there appears to be a lamp post with a screen on it or something connected to it. Thoughts? Ideas?

The Lamp Post thingy:

Secret storage space for the Professors spare doomsday devices? I mean, they repair the Planet Express ship on another surrounding nearby patch of land. Also, if it is the Professors building perhaps he gets revenue for the Slurm sign?...

I'd also like them to visit that junkyard across the street. :D

But, meh, I doubt it's the Professor's, surely it would've been mentioned by now? :hmpf:

They should make loads of mysterious/weird things happen there, do a scene with Cubert telling the other kids a spooky story about it at a sleepover or whatever, all leading up to an ep where we find out what's inside, that'd be great! :D

I like your Cubert idea, and you've made me realise that there is potential with the building for an episode; something to enrich the Futurama universe and add that extra little bit of depth. I mean the only neighbours that have really been explored are the Signoids. There is so much of the surrounding area and buildings left to be explored and mysteries uncovered...

I should do really, but I have such a habit of checking things in Google. I guess it just doesn't work for obscure things like this though, so lesson learned :hmpf:...

Ooh, I really like the idea of more episodes explaining the stuff around the PE building, seeing as I have no idea what the answer to your original question is.

Looks KINDA like a natural gas or methane gas recovery station they have at land fields. And, with Old New York decaying underneath, that could make sense.

Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post.. Anyway, I've always wanted to see an episode where they wonder around their town. It looks pretty rough and run down in a few of the episodes, with owl infestations.

Hi, welcome to Peel, fantafob :)...

They sort of did wander about a bit in My Three Suns, and I guess in other eps too. Another off the top of my head is Three Hundred Big Boys. I know what you mean though, I would like them to explore their local surroundings more as well, and a whole ep in which the storyline centres around enriching this part of the Futurama universe would be most welcome in my book!...

To tell the birds if it's full or vacant? :p Perhaps birds have evolved into super intelligent creatures in the future, and it would probably be for the owls if anything, they're intelligent, right?...

I was just thinking that. I would really enjoy if they did that, like how we saw more of the PlanEx building in How Hermes Requistioned His Groove Back. I think it was the PlanEx building, that bureaucrating area was so huge though...maybe I am mistaken. I just remember the tubes going places, heh.

If it were a little taller I'd say it was a watchtower.

But maybe it is both, a home base for the 'Exocoms' from 'Mom's Old Fashioned Video Surveillence Unit'.

Those guys who busted Bender.

This was a good catch, I would like them to expore NNY more to integrate some of these background structures and place them into the foreground. I always appreciate the NNY scene episodes. I still don't feel they have explored the city to its fullest.

The thing is, will they explore NNY to its fullest, or are we just blindly hoping that they will as hardcore fans? Would they rather just tell stories like Yo Leela Leela instead? :hmpf:...

Or maybe for people like me the city will never feel like its been explored to the fullest, to me that would occur when those kind of episodes got stale and monotonous.

I asked Eric Rogers, and:

@DannyJC13 I'm sitting next to Matt Groening right now. Here is your answer: "No idea."

Woo, MG kind of talked to me! :D Anyway, that's the big mystery solved. And that's a good thing. Now they can make it whatever they want and give it a plotline. :D

Cygnoids (as the correct spelling) should be obvious to anybody who knows their constellations.

However, for the rest of everybody, I feel compelled to point out that much like the designation Earthican, the name denotes their place of origin. They come from the constellation Cygnus. This is sometimes referred to as the Swan. Google Earth actually has a star map that'll let you find it and locate its position relative to you, so that next time you have a clear night you can go look for it.

Looks like a shop. That ground floor window looks designed to display merchandise.

Perhaps it is Pottery Barn. Although it might be the Lesbian Coven's charity shop. :p

Someone must care enough for it to have it rebuilt, cause it was completely destroyed in Benderama:
