Smarty, good find. I've only seen this one once and really should go watch it again. I feel like most of these 6B episodes get better after the second or third watch, which may or may not be a good thing?

that's been the story of futurama for me. the more i watch them, the more invested i get, the more nuances i pick up, the more i love them.

heck, i even upgraded AOTKA to watchable status recently(not PI, though).

I can only think of two episodes that I'd rather not rewatch: IAGDL and Neutopia. All of the rest, sure, why not? I went back and watched this one again and though the cartoony injuries still make me wince, everything else got better and I liked the story more.

This ep isn't canon.

Remember though, the events of TLPJF; this is a universe where the Professor shot Eleanor Roosevelt. That could easily have messed up (in this Futurama universe) what was established in the episodes before that (the other Futurama universe).

Scruffy: Yeah. That'll hold up to scrutiny.

There's some other things though, is Hermes being decapited in some way become a trend within the show

Well, there is that Season 7 ep in which Hermes gets cybernetic limbs I believe, so perhaps it will become a regular thing that he gets dismembered in some way :hmpf:...

Maybe he has some special condition/gene that allows him to survive dismemberment?

So on this site where I watch the new eps from the US (Futurama Stream), 'The Tip of the Zoidberg' is called 'The Tip Top of Zoidberg'.... :nono:

Good episode, and I enjoyed most of the gags. Some great scenes in here as well (The Murderlator was great, and one of the best parts of the episode).

Interesting to see a Zoidberg backstory, and I'd say it's better than other Zoidberg episodes. There were some continuity errors, and some jokes I didn't enjoy (I thought that Fry changing diseases 4 times was a bit too much), but overall a good episode. 8.5/10

'The Tip of the Zoidberg' is called 'The Tip Top of Zoidberg'.... :nono:

In Spanish Fry, the Yeti was thought not to exist.

Yetis are not mentioned in "Spanish Fry", only Big Foot.

Sasquatch!

Also I'm surprised Amy's ability to speak Yeti wasn't factored in this episode, but I suppose the writers decided not to do a bit where it would have been useful.  Pity, it could have ended up setting up a Chekov's Gunman moment.

I forgot she could do that! Then again, what can't Amy do?
But, yes, that's a big missed opportunity. That could've worked very well in the episode.

I personally don't see it fitting in, seeing as how the Yeti was encountered years before she was born. Maybe if they had to go kill another one or something..

I was thinking of when Farnsworth was turning into a yeti. Maybe she could have at least tried to communicate with him.

Or another yeti appears on the show.  Or Mom had a live specimen, from which Zoidberg had to extract the cure.  I wasn't happy with the Deus Ex Machina-y ending, so I think they could have built a more interesting one about that.  Then again this isn't an Amy episode so we wouldn't want her stealing the last bit away from the main pair.

For a second I forgot about that. The episode was already rushed though, I don't think the pacing would have worked. :/ But it could have.

It could have, but most Futurama episodes do suffer from pacing issues.  It was a good idea and had potential, but I can see it clogging an already fast storyline.   Still we didn't see Amy getting an amusing injury (except for the kidney which was pretty minor compared to Hermes/Leela/Fry and we didn't get to see her activate her bit of the Murdilator, so she should have got a line about her trying to speak to the Prof as compensation.

In Spanish Fry, the Yeti was thought not to exist.

Even if it were yetis in that episode and not bigfoot, they see bigfoot at the end and the park ranger gets some hair trimmings does he not? (I might be misremembering things).
So yeah, my point is that perhaps bigfoot is openly accepted and fairly common knowledge after that episode.

Plus we have seen Yetis exist on Neptune.  Earth sasquatches are the ones peple are unsure about existing.

Indeed, it could have been done and it would have helped enrich the continuity of the show. Not that not having her speak yeti goes against it, but having her speak it in this ep would surely have helped make it stronger and have been all-round cloolsome...

True that, I don't think the ep suffers from not including that, but its inclusion could have made it better. Maybe. If it didn't introduce more clutter.

I thought of that, Otis. Like have the Professor mumble what appeared to be gibberish before he turned Yeti and have Amy translate what he was saying, but not be sure why he was speaking that way.

They should have invited Peel to the table read for this ep. Could you imagine how much better the eps would've been if we all saw the animatics and told them what could be improved and changed before they went into final animation? I'd be more than willing to donate my services for free to help aid them in the production of Season 7, if they offered that is :laff:...

the yeti translation is a terrible idea. what's the deal with folks trying to add more amy to the show? she is a side character, and her screen time has been perfect this season.

also, as they mention in this episode, there are several types of Yeti's. are we making the assumption that Yeti's from all over the universe have some sort of universal language? that doesn't work.

God, I don't want to think about how bad the series would be with hardcore fans in the room...I would probably include myself in that.

Suicide itself isn't really a rational decision, and would often be considered to be selfish and self-centered at that. If Zoidberg trying to off himself seems irrational in "30% Iron Chef" after this episode then...well, yeah, it was. Already. Killing himself over a bottle/ten dollars isn't rational behavior. There's no discrepancy with this episode.

Not to mention it's so minor that it pretty much just enters into "who cares?" territory regardless.
