I've been reading this thread and it's been days since the episode aired, yet I still don't have a solid opinion on it. I think I really liked the potential that this episode had, and while it didn't play out as maniac as it could have like The Sting it still was a good episode. But again, the whole Leela wanting to murder the whale seriously lacked any explanation, I caught the end of the episode on Thursday and watched it in its entirety on Friday morning and I was disappointed that there was no explanation for her behavior. That being said, I'm not gonna be pissy because she was out of character, this episode got a lot of things right. Even though they used all the characters (again) at least Amy and Hermes weren't just standing there the entire time contributing nothing to the plot. Fry and Bender had interaction, it wasn't just heavily focused on Leela (like Yo Leela Leela) to a point where everyone else has meaningless dialogue. This was a good episode, I'm relieved but at the same time there is something empty that I felt about it. I mean who were the other people in the whale? I don't know I feel like they should have had more exposition than they did. I was expecting more of an Event Horizon kind of episode and it was muddled.

I'm going to rate it 7.5 but not put it in the poll because I do feel like I need to watch this one again.

Its probably the professor being senile or just argumentative for the sake of it.  Rememer how he shouts at Amy saying he can't help it if she imagined zoidberg with hair?  Then when amy asks him that she thoug he said zoidberg didn't have hair, he blurts out another that zoidberg did have hair he just grew it out of fright.  Prof just reminnds me of a few older people I know who just like to argue even if it means contradicting themselves. The fastest way to change my aunt's opinion on anything is to just agree with her.

My problem with Zoidberg's hair. If he didn't have the style that he combed into at the start when the crew imagined that he had hair why would he comb it into the exact same style at the end with Candy?. Also why would he carry around a comb with him if the only time he had hair was when he got "horror hair"?

Maybe he got the idea from the way they imagined it. Maybe they imagined it that way because that's how Zoidberg would behave if he had hair like that.

Candy and Grrl should hang out.  They can bond over their attraction to repulsive alien species.

I asked Eric Rogers about the multiple Benders hitting the wall, he said:

yes, that was on purpose.

I asked why though, was it just a general joke or because they were near the 4th Dimension. ;)

Either way, amy's internal organs have probably been smooshed into a pate.

Wow this was perfect. I was one of the people who thought Futurama was in terminal decline since its return. A complete rewatch of the entire series, and this episode combined have turned that opinion on its head.
Cool sci fi spin on a classic story? Check. The characters we know and love behaving and reacting true to themeselves? A few straight up, no nonsense jokes? CHECK! If i was going to introduce Futurama to somebody this is the sort of episode i'd pick to showcase the show. 10/10.

Thanks for welcome, but would you take it back if i said that my very very long time lurking was only extended during the last few months because i couldn't think of a good, original username to use? Once the excitement had died down for me over how good the episode was i rewatched it and as soon as Leela said ''im gonna kill that mobious DICK'' I knew the ''The long search was over'' :D

I may be wrong, but was the Planet Express layed out differently?

The all look back, their backs to Professor's Lab (or where he was speaking from) and looking up to the sky but the Observatory can be seen.

I'm not sure, can someone confirm if it's right or wrong?

No I think it's correct. The Whale flies around then drops on the other side. I think. :laff:

The whale didn't turn and when it actually got to the ground it's head was facing Farnsy's Lab.

Just rewatched it. The whale changes orientation in flight, and is clearly seen to do so. First it dives down out of the 4th-dimensional hole, then it turns around and lands on the back wall of the hanger.

I'm not reading through 6 pages to find this out - that *was* the first Firefly reference ever on the show, right?

Did anybody notice a vessel in the Bermuda... place that resembled either the Discovery spacecraft from 2001, or the titular 'Event Horizon' from that movie...?

Yes they did:

I also spotted two references to 2001 which made me happy...

I only spotted one (when they were inside the Bermuda Tetrahedron): the two-wheeled spaceship. There was another ship which looked like the Discovery One, but which was smoother along the sides.

I counted the ship that looked like Discovery and the fact that the 4th dimension looked like the trip through the Star Gate.

On re-watching it, I saw the Discovery One, as well as the smooth-sided ship I originally mentioned. (The Discovery One was in an earlier scene than the smooth one.)

Candy's boots really bother me.  They're always facing the same way at the exact same angle, no matter what position her legs seem to be in.  It's even more jarring when she's put next to the other characters, who at least look like their feet are facing the right way.  Plus the way she's drawn in that picture makes it look like she has one leg longer then the other.

Nitpicky I know ,but it really bugs me.
