But the flashbacks themselves were quality stuff. I know each episode doesn't exist in a vacuum or anything, but as an entity separate from the equally flashback-heavy "The Tip of the Zoidberg," "Cold Warriors" was funny and emotionally satisfying and all those nice things. The storytelling device was valid in both cases, and it's not like the show's burnt itself out on flashback episodes.
It just seems like a nitpick-y thing that shouldn't really hurt the episode, because if you were watching the series out of order it probably wouldn't bug you at all. I guess some people might grade the packaging, as you say, but I'm not one of those people. Apparently this IGN reviewer is such a person, so good for him, but I think he's selling the episode short for a fairly trivial reason.
I obviously don't agree that the episode is lousy just because it was aired in a weird position. I just say that I think it's perfectly legitimate to point it out, since it clearly can diminish the viewing experience for the average viewer. That said, I found the flashback scenes to be all gold, in "Cold Warriors" more than "The Tip of the Zoidberg", so I don't mind them one bit - they were vital to the episode.

I'm expecting for Leela and Fry's relationship issues to be resolved and for them to be an actual couple from the start of season 7 onwards
Should this happen, it would rather remind me of Greg Weisman's Masterplan for Disneys Gargoyles: In Episode 65 (end of Original run) , they decided to bring Goliath and Elisa together. The next planned season (had Weisman remained) was supposed to question that relationsship (can it really work?), and -from the next season on- the Masterplan was supposed to let them stay together. (Of course, Greg Weisman tended to talk a lot during a long day, but he could brillantly time and resolve long running plots).

And now that "Overclockwise" has aired, let's get onto the "Reincarnation" news. Posted this on another thread, but I feel like I should also post it here. "Reincarnation" reviewOverall, the review is positive, and it definitely raises my hopes for the episode. Also, a key plot detail: Apparently each segment will feature the same story: Farnsworth discovering a diamondium comet. Just in a different animation style. That's actually pretty interesting for the show to do, I'm excited. And with this post, I'm an official bending unit in terms of ranking.

Does each section feature the same story, or is the whole thing one story-arc that switches between animation styles? WE SHALL SEE
I would think that it is going to be one story-arc. Or else it would get boring pretty quickly. And that makes sense to me.

So in this interview, it says Zoidberg uses a peace dance to calm down the angry invading aliens in the Anime segment, and CC released a storyboard of Fry and Bender dancing also in the Anime segment, so I'm guessing there's gonna be a lot of dancing, probably to make fun of Anime's stiff animation.
