The clip was good, albeit mostly expository. It doesn't make me more excited for the episode, but it certainly doesn't give me a bad feeling for it like the clip for "The Tip of the Zoidberg" did.

Eric Rogers tweeted:

Congrats to @aimeekitty and rest of Rough Draft for a great Ep 1 animatic. World, it's a winner. You will love this episode. #futurama

Maybe he only had seen the Robonikah segment, and believed the other two were of similar quality.

Even that segment is nothing to write home about, and the song is dreadful...

The song is dreadful, but so are the other two.  I thought the Robonikah was clever and funny, had good characters (Ruth and Esther, who I woudln't mind seeing again), and I really thought the ending was extremely inspired, and it felt like it actually had something to do with the holiday.  (Replacing the lamp oil with slutbot wrestling oil was genius.)  I felt it was on par with a classic AOI segment, but unfortunately had the unfortune of being unfortunately placed with the extremely unfortunate other two.

Very unfortunate.

I enjoyed that segment but it's far from being brilliant. I'd say it's on par with classic AOI segments but it'd only just be better than the worst one (The Unfreeze of a Lifetime) and would be miles behind the others.
I mean, that segment is the reason that I prefer the episode over In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela and Attack of the Killer App.

If they upped the gag ratio ever so slightly (more jokes like the albino humping worm one would have been nice) and had given it a decent musical number then I'd be quite a fan...

I suppose what I'm saying is that the basic concept and story structure are all there, which they aren't in the other two segments.

Hey the Kwanzaa song had great music, not so great singing...

I love the Robanukah segment. The other two aren't as terrible as lots of people make them out to be, in my opinion. The Kwanzaa one did kind of take a dump on The Sting but eh, not a felony.

I do not trust Eric Rogers as an authority on what I will like. But okay, I guess.

Cold Warriors tomorrow, stoked!

I don't necessarily agree with Eric Rogers' tastes, but he seems like a nice guy.  Can't pretend he isn't nice!  Or perhaps you are a jerk?  I'm looking at you, person who is reading my post right now.  Yes, you!

So I figured out how to make the clip viewable to us in the UK:

« Last Edit on: 08-25-2011 13:10 »

I've seen the clip, although I'd already seen it at Futurama Points Facebook page before I came to Peel today as they'd emailed me and let me know (thanx though anyways, cyber_turnip). I like the clip, quite a lot. It's what I was expecting really and although not lol funny, it was chuckle worthy. One thing I did notice though, did anyone else think Dr Zoidberg's colour was a lighter than usual? It seemed a little off to me, more salmon pink than normal, or was that just me? :hmpf:...

He seemed his normal, dyed-out lobster-y hue to me, Otis--but then again, I'm hardly what you'd call observant.

I watched the clip yet again, and since it's seven in the morning and I am bored, here are a few thoughts about it...

So, yeah. I'm still quite pumped for this episode to air already.

URL and Smitty's lines were great I have to agree, they are such a great double act. I'm expecting most of this ep to take place within the PE Building based on the storyline and what we've seen so far. That's no bad thing though, I'm sure the whole PE Crew will have some great lines. Also, with it apparently taking place there, I wonder if Scruffy will make yet another appearance?...

I just noticed: Fry has a fishing rod and drops it under the table at the very beginning of the clip. :p

Otis's post reminds me: Is this the episode where we're supposed to get flashbacks to Fry's life in the twentieth century? Because I'm almost positive DXC mentioned that in an interview somewhere. I'd imagine that being quarantined gives a person a lot of time to think about their life. Also, flashbacks make this episode's potential for awesomeness even higher.

Well, that is a good point about the flashbacks. I could imagine them doing a flashback to Fry's time showing loads of people on Earth having stinking colds. Perhaps it could be a movie on one of the Professors old movie reels or video tapes, then that way the rest of the PE Crew could also watch and be educated about Colds. Maybe it could be an old Propaganda film with the Space Pope at the end again. It's been ages since he got used that thing, long overdue...

Bongo has a picture of Bender in Cure for the Common... I mean; Cold Warriors. Although this looks more like what I'd expect in Overclockwise, it looks like a water based cooling system to use in conjunction with over clocking, not a umm, bacteria chamber?

Two parter?
