It's kind-of considered as a sequel or follow up to Proposition Infinity, regarding Bender's mortality. I guess you mean Lethal Inspection. Is it? Have the crew mentioned that or are you just assuming?

Ghost In The Machines is really twisting my tongue! I'm thinking and thinking if this may be a good episode or just another crappy one! Benders Death! Ghost Bender! I just dont know............It may either be a classic or another "Neutopia" kind of episode.

That's super obvious! I'm just thinking about whether or not its worth the 30 minutes out of my day!

I'm on the same track, I think it's either amazing or sucky. It feels like it could be pretty emotional, I just hope they do it in a good way and not out of character-y ("So, Bender's dead, now what?").

I tried to form a dicussion on whether or not it really was the Galactic Entity in that talk page, but I never got a reply. I'm of the opinion that it's more logical that the "come into the light" was a joke, and that it just shared voice with the Galactic Entity by sheer chance. What opinion do you guys have?

Huh, I haven't seen that information anywhere around, I just saw that broadcast season 7 was to begin January 12. Do you have a source, Quolnok?

I don't really see a great relation though. The Galactic Entity was obviously a deistic god if any, while this "god" (or joke or whatever) was the good old typical person god that cared about Bender dying. The Galactic Entity was also unaware of his power, it seems, and an afterlife which he controlled (the stepping into the light) was never mentioned either.

Regarding "the Entity," I'm pretty sure it was just a joke and the reason the voices are similar is because that's the stock voice that Billy West(?) uses whenever a script calls for a god-like voice. I doubt it's more complicated than that. A lot of one-time or bit characters sound similar to each other because it's the same few voice actors all the time (incredibly versatile though they may be). Also, for any meatbags who care, a clip for Ghost in the Machines is up: (Spoilered just because the title of the clip might give something away.)

That clip was... disturbing. That's how they handle it? Seriously? Like some... joke? Like it was no big deal? Also, Fry has sex with someone other than Leela? What the frack?

That clip was... disturbing. That's how they handle it? Seriously? Like some... joke? Like it was no big deal? I thought it was a little lame that Bender decided to kill himself because Fry (presumably) chose to save the mayor's (wife's?) life over Bender's at some Stock Catastrophic Event. Doesn't that undermine the whole point of "Lethal Inspection," where Bender was forced to confront his own mortality, and learned to cherish each moment he spent among the living? That said, I thought the taking-off-hat joke was kind of funny. Also, I'm assuming the clip is from the end of the first act, since dead Bender laughing would make a...um...hilarious act break. Also, Fry has sex with someone other than Leela? What the frack?
That bugged me, too, but it's probably just one of those throwaway lines that the writers don't think will confound and/or annoy the viewers, regardless of their shippy leanings (similar to Leela's line about having no man in "That Darn Katz!"). Besides, now aren't Fry and Leela even, seeing as how she slept with Zapp in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela?"
No, wait, that's not right. MONOGAMY DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.

Doesn't that undermine the whole point of "Lethal Inspection," where Bender was forced to confront his own mortality, and learned to cherish each moment he spent among the living? I took it more like Bender was almost killed, as was the mayor's wife, and Fry rescued her over him, but in the end they both made it. That said, I thought the taking-off-hat joke was kind of funny. Second! The Professor being upset about Fry not getting it was hilarious. That bugged me, too, but it's probably just one of those throwaway lines that the writers don't think will confound and/or annoy the viewers, regardless of their shippy leanings (similar to Leela's line about having no man in "That Darn Katz!"). I guess I can tolerate it if it turns out that either a) Leela is upset with Fry for sleeping with someone else, or b) Leela was okay with it to begin with, because he deserved it or whatever. I just hope they mention in some way or another that Leela should have a say in who Fry sleeps with.

I don't think it's directly implied, at least in that clip, that Bender was ever in danger. All we know is that Fry chose not to save "a robot," not any specific character. As for Fry/Leela, I think they just still haven't been established as a couple or anything yet.

Just in terms of larger story structure, it would make sense if the whole Fry/Leela issue wasn't resolved until Overclockwise, the clip for which implies they are together through at least some part of that episode. This would give season 6 a larger "arc" even if it didn't happen to run through most of the episodes. Most of the time, in the episodes we've seen already, the status quo appears to be more or less the same as it was pre-season 6 (hence such throwaway lines), but doing it this way would make the whole season feel grander and more significant, and make the finale more interesting. In any case, this episode looks so, so good.

Although I'm a convert to anti-shipping, I have to say the anger in these comments has me a little worried. Then again, anything that keeps the will-they-won't-they status quo is fine with me. As I'm not reading spoilers, I guess I'll have to wait until Thursday to see what all the fuss is really about!
