I really hope there'll be a DVD set of the entire 6th production season...

Some Volume 6 DVD news, including cover art:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Futurama-Volume-6/15695

There might be some very mild spoilers in the "blurb" at the top (nothing that isn't known, though).

The featurette on Christopher Tyng sounds awesome.

That looks awesome. I like that they stay with the style of Volume 5, I'm always annoyed when they switch around.

edit: I don't know if this has been posted here, but check out this thread concerning a Patrick Verrone interview with some brand new footage.

In the UK maybe as neither have come out here yet, so makes sense...

ooh, nice cover art!
I'm ashamed to say I have yet to buy any season 6 DVDs :(. But I will eventually.

I'm also very glad I live in the US and have Cable TV so I don't have to watch these Episodes online, cause that just sucks...

As far as news goes, I'm hoping we get something new from Comic Con this year. But I'm not sure what else they can really talk about, besides upcoming episodes.

I'm actually kind of wondering if someone is going to call the writers out on the frequent pop culture references and the rushed storylines and the other gripes a lot of fans have about the new episodes. I don't want anyone to be hostile, but seriously: It would be kind of interesting to see how the writers respond to constructive criticism. I seem to recall them being caught off-guard by criticisms of "The Beast With a Billion Backs" at the 2008 Con, and though it's awkward to see it's also kind of cool to hear the writers explain their thought process on things that are so contentious and divisive within the fan community itself.

Also: Last year they did a reading of the first act of "Benderama," right? And the year before that they gave us a lot of details about season 6A, which had not yet aired. So I'm thinking we'll probably get some interesting spoilers about season 7A. And I'm pretty sure they're showing the anime segment of "Reincarnation" in its entirety, so there's that.

I might be misremembering, and I'm sure YouTube has clips of the 2008 panel (if that was in fact the year, and if it was in fact at Comic Con), but I think someone just gave the writers shit about how the characters' relationships were handled in "The Beast With a Billion Backs." I don't think I'm making this up....but, you know, I often have very vivid dreams wherein Hollywood hotshots are defending their artistic choices to thirty-year old, sexless Futurama nerds.

No yeah, I think that did really happen. Someone was upset that the events of Bender's Big Score had been sorta forgotten and Fry was with Colleen at the beginning rather than Leela. I remember seeing video of that.

(I didn't really agree with the complainer, but I could sort of understand why they would complain.)

Assuming that I'm not already, can I be one of those sexless Futurama nerds you dream about? :)...

Seattle developer partners with Futurama, unleashes Head-in-a-Jar iPhone app

Read it and weep.

I read it, and I cried when I searched for the app on my iPhone and couldn’t find it. The app does look awesome though so I’ll keep looking for it in the future...

Also, on a side note I noticed at the bottom of that link there is a picture of the store Borders with a headline "How much do real bookstores matter anymore?". In the UK all of the Borders stores are gone as far as I’m aware. I was under the assumption that this was also the case worldwide, but seeing that suggests it isn't. I see from your profile that you don't live in the US, but to anyone that does, are there still Borders in the US?...

for a couple of months, there are.  They're having a huge going-out-of-business sale right now.  I'm going to the one down the street today to see how much of their science fiction section I can carry home on my bicycle.

Only 10%, I waded through the huge (and I mean huge) lines yesterday. It really isn't worth it until books get to be 30% off or more considering the generous coupons they used to give out and you could probaly order it online for cheaper, but I digress...

It's happening right now.

Some chick just Tweeted this:

Original intent of Scruffy was that he would be crushed by the ship every time it landed. #SDCC Futurama

Okay, now someone says there is a Bender drawing contest, and they officially announced the Head-In-A-Jar app.

John DiMaggio put:

At The Simpsons panel, someone asked about a Futurama/Simpsons crossover and whilst they said it wouldn't happen, apparently they drafted a Futurama writer to write an episode set 30 years in the future for the coming season.

I like the sound of this one:

and the two you mentioned both have a lot of potential too.
None of those story ideas strike me as amazing in the same way that The Late Philip J. Fry did when I first heard about it, though.

The episode where

It would be pretty hilarious if two of the most gentle and mild mannered characters introduced him to a world of pain, just like their offspring.

The soda machine plotline sounds interesting, though I don't see why they don't use Amana, who could do with her own episode.  I like the idea of the stock sassy black woman character being a pink fridge on wheels.

Yeah, I had the same thought. Oh well...

Also: I'm with Svip in thinking that this two-more-seasons stuff is just a misinterpretation of the preexisting order for a seventh production season, to be split into two more broadcast seasons. Not that I wouldn't potentially be interested in having another season after the 2013 run...but it's way too early to know what Comedy Central's game plan is.

I would sort of think that some of those tidbits aren't actually entire episodes but maybe subplots or just funny scenes that happen...I could be wrong, but it seems that way to me. Just whatever memorable things the writers could think of off the top of their heads that they thought were funny or interesting from upcoming shows.

That said, it all sounds kind of awesome.

It's what he used to say as an explanation for why The Simpsons and Futurama can never have a "cross over" (except for in the comics); he's saying that they're different universes, and in Futurama, The Simpsons is a cartoon that the characters know as such.

The thing with Zapp is such an awesomely hilarious idea that I can't believe they've never thought of it before (well, maybe they have). I seriously cannot wait for that one.

If Scruffy was continually crushed and killed in each episode by the planet express ship, that quip Hermes made in "Law and Oracle" about him being resurrected as a zombie would have made a lot more sense.
