Alright.. I just watched it. I was pleasantly surprised! I thought it was very good. Not as great as some of the all time best ones, but definitely one worth watching over and over. Not sure if it was a great season opener choice, but it was still really funny.
There's a lot of good one liners, and funny moments, and it's overall very funny. There wasn't a lot of thought to the plot and everything, but it was still good. Still had that weird 'New Futurama' feel to it though, which makes me miss the old ones. (I can't explain it, but since Rebirth, almost all are all like this) Anyway, I was very happy with it. I'm hoping this is a good start to a great season. Last season I was kinda disappointed with a lot of the episodes, and I'm hoping that doesn't happen again.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was poorly plotted with a pretty awful deus ex machina ending, but it was interesting and funny. It didn't feature much particularly intelligent humour but Futurama doesn't have to be incredibly smart all the time to work. Its humour drew heavily on stereotypes but it felt self-aware of this to the point that the stereotypes were funny because they were so stereotypical. Zoidberg's line about some chick turning the thermostat up was probably my favourite part of the episode.
If anything, it's yet another episode that feels like it's suffered from the slightly reduced running time on Comedy Central. Shame, it could have been better, but it's still a decent episode -about mid-tier.
5/10 (by Futurama's standards) 8/10 (by overall TV standards)
I agree. A good episode compared to most of the crap on TV, but merely an average episode by Futurama's high standards. I thought that this episode relied too much on stereotypes and clichés, and didn't contribute anything new to the "gender war" issue. I expected this episode to provide some hilarious new Futurama-esque insight or parody of this issue -- but it didn't deliver. Instead, it took the easy way out with the turnabout for the PlanEx girlie calender, and then the episode was hastily wrapped up with everyone (sans Scruffy) being returned to normal. It wasn't a bad episode; it was funny and I enjoyed it; but it just wasn't very good by Futurama's standards.

If almost everyone liked this episode so much, why does "Neutopia" have such a poor poll rating? Going by the poll averages, it is currently rated as the third-worst episode of the sixth production season, even worse than "Attack of the Killer App".
Firstly, NOT everyone like it. Second, these new episode polls are totally unreliable. The polls are skewed by the douches who give every episode 1s, 2s, and 3s, and the kiss-asses who give every episode 10s. Third, only the rankings of ALL the episodes matter, because each episode can be compared to all of the other episodes, instead of people's hasty reactions to the newest episode. I admitted in my first post that I was too generous in voting this episode 7/10; if I could, I'd revise that score to 6/10, because my opinion of this episode hasn't improved after multiple viewings.

Actually, if you look at the poll at the top of the page (from which I got the numbers to determine the average poll rating for this episode), almost everybody gave this episode a 6, 7, or 8 rating. There were few 1, 2, 3, or 10 ratings. The fact remains, though, that on average this episode was rated worse than the frequently mocked "Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences" and even worse than "Attack of the Killer App".
AotKA was rightfully put down when it first aired (remember the pukeme-poopyou? or Susan Boil?), and had a much worse reception than "Neutopia" got, yet by the numbers it is considered a better episode than "Neutopia". I suspect that there has been some ratings deflation going on.

But look at the CGEF ratings. Neutopia has 75% after 30 reviews, which puts it on par with Rebirth (75% after 168) and The Duh-Vinci Code (76% after 147). In comparison, App is 62% after 183 and LrrrNdnd is 69% after 114. I expect Neutopia's rating to go down because, looking at the reviews, a lot are "zomg new Futurama, Scruffy with a mustache, 5 out of 5! 5 out of 5!" so far.

Every few minutes of Neutopia has a plot point introduced that could have gone longer and taken the episode, yet all are cut short and pressed together with gum to make the final cut. It's like the writers couldn't commit to a single version of the story and decided to go with all rather than kill any one. The episode feels rushed and unfocused, yet enjoyable since some of the better gags were saved and the different stories fit together just well enough to keep it from being nonsensical and not enough to make me think of it as anything else but a gag episode (which I feel has enough good material), which works in its favor (it was slightly more focused, it would have been a disappointing story. As it is, it's some amusing sketches and liners).
The Office joke was a bit annoying, since it's too contemporary a reference. Sure, it's chuckleworthy ("It's funny cause it's true!"), but anyone could make that joke. Futurama's setting should be a call to more timeless humor.
Amy wanting to shop at Tommy Hilfiger is a missed line. Petunia and Hattie were given funny places to shop, why not Amy (remember Calvin Clone?)?
I loved Zoidberg's stand-up.
I would have preferred if the non-speaking cameo characters had been extras instead of previously used tertiary characters. Extras may seem like a waste, but they keep the tertiary characters as welcome surprises (in Crimes of the Hot they had reason to bring back many robot characters, most of whom either got great one-liners or performed actions respectful to their personality (such as Roberto and the mobsters stabbing others)) and keep the world feeling larger than the familiar cast. This just felt a bit too much like filler. Petunia and Sal got to say and do things respectful to their characters, but Vic-tore' and the Professor's sweet hippopotamus were just there (they should have been extras).
Overall, it was okay but underwhelming. Now you all watch your genitals now.

So NOW it all makes sense to me...KurtPikachu IS a writer!! Seriously, this episode was terrible. I was going in with high expectations and this wasn't even a blip on the radar. I am so sad that the show has already started to tank on only the second season (or second half of first season) since it's been brought back. There were probably three laugh out loud moments in the episode that REALLY hit the mark with me, so I was hopeful, but only to be disappointed through it all, asking when it was going to end. Many of you are aware of how much I love this show and what it means to me. There have been very few episodes that I was not excited about. However, even though I never thought I would EVER give an episode this rating, it has earned the embarrassing 1/10 for me. My former worst episode, That's Lobstertainment, is amazing compared to this one. Worst. Episode. Ever. I am going to wallow in shame for the inevitable destruction of what I hold so dear to me. Liking or not liking certain episodes of a show is not really a very "hipster" thing to do; perhaps you should use a different insult. Hey, remember when I said that when the new episodes started people would be like "Futurama completely shit and like Family Guy now!!!" every time there was a bad-to-meh episode and then that totally did happen several times? So NOW it all makes sense to me...KurtPikachu IS a writer!!

* futurefreak orders some gummi fungus anti-depressants Well it's still happening! a. You can't judge the quality of the whole show by one episode you didn't like. b. You can't really judge what the rest of this season's episodes will be like based on just Neutopia and Benderama because they were produced in the same production run as the episodes we saw last year (this means there's 13 other episodes you can use to judge the quality of the rest of this broadcast season).
