When I mention that I love Less Than Hero, people often say it'd be better cut down and part of an AoI episode. I feel like that should've been the case with Neutopia.

Less Than Hero is amazing though.

I've always thought this episode might work better if it followed a similar path to "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles". The complication is similar, but resolved much better.

Oh my god, I love Less Than Hero. It'd been cool of they did another one.

This episode was a pile of poopy. D+ , or 3/10

It just blew. I was expecting to see more of the PE Crew being different Genders. Like maybe a mad scientist experiment done by the Professor could have switched the genders instead of running it out by cheap gender jokes before-hand that made me cringe quite alot.

Eh, I never quite understood the hatred for Neutopia. It had some major flaws in the story, sure - a lot of the "wait, how the fuck" stuff was brushed over way too quickly - but it kept me laughing the whole way through. I still consider it the better episode out of this and Benderama, which never really did anything for me. I'd say it's somewhere between a 6 and a 7.

And Less Than Hero was great, but only as a one-off. Attempting it again would ruin that episode's charm.

Only episode I've ever hated. Just didn't do it for me.

Same here. This is the only episode I've ever disliked so much that I didn't even want to finish watching it the first time I saw it.
I know this small issue shouldn't bother me so much, but I hated that they turned Fry into a misogynist for the sake of the plot. It just really bothered me that they took the person who's probably the kindest character on the show and had him act like an asshole for cheap jokes. Also, I've never found the "battle-of-the-sexes" type jokes funny or clever at all, so an episode jammed full of them along with hardly anything else was beyond shitty in my opinion.
I thought the entire episode structure was awful, too. I genuinely wanted to find something I enjoyed about this episode (I've even made myself watch it many more times searching for something, anything good about it), but sadly, I still hate basically everything in it.

I heartily agree with you here, particularly on Fry. Or everyone, really; it's in-character for Bender and the Professor to be selfish clowns, but not the others.

However, even as PEEL's most vocal Neutopia hater, I can admit to finding a few things I like in the episode. Namely:

-The designs of the gender-flipped characters. It's funny seeing Leela with a beard and Fry with a skirt.
-"We'll set up camp next to this shoe"
-The Professor's flappy boobs. I feel like a tool for finding this funny, but I did. Though I kind of wish my Mum chose a different time to suddenly enter the room.  :shifty:

I ike this episode alot, myslef. Sure, it's not the best story wise, but It's excellent comedy-wise, at least to me. The Male/Female jokes weren't funny to me, but most other jokes, such as the Rock Aliens' brutal tests and Zoidberg's "Look it Up" line, made me laugh out loud. Like I said,  the storyline could've been layed out much better. I think there was too much attention put on the middle of the episode, and not enough on the end. I'd loved to have seen more of the Crew dealing with their new genders, as I'm sure it would've been hilarious.
In the end, I think it's the jokes that really save this episode, but don't get me wrong, I still lked the story, even if it was put together oddly.

Oh, and I almost forgot...

I love Fry's line: "My wing-wang's gone!"

Makes me chuckle every time. :laff:

This episode gets a 6/10 from me. I've always liked jokes about gender stereotypes. There weren't many great moments in this episode, but there were enough that I enjoyed watching it. I loved the designs for the gender swapped characters, especially female Fry, and it was nice seeing Bender again as Coilette. The jokes between Hermes and LaBarbara were stale, but I did like the things about neutrality and "I have no opinion". Decent episode overall but not a highlight.

I had no opinion whatsoever concerning neutrality.

IMO, it would have been a much more enjoyable episode if they had dialed back the level of misogynandry to something a little less over-the-top.

This gets just weird when the genders change. It's not absolute rubbish, but definitely one of the worst episodes. Probably worth 4/10
