There were always good for a quick cheap laugh.
They were, or they're. Not "There were". And yes, the cold openings were always good.

edeltraut doesn’t post here much these days... I know their still around Uh oh... Anyway I like the cold openings, I’m glad they’ve done a few more recently. I also liked the adverts at the beginning of select certain eps as well, just for the crack of them. I forget the reason they went off the cold openings for a while, there was a reason, but I can't be bothered to look... Oh, and welcome to Peel! ...

Because we like to hold ourselves to standards here. I know it was wrong, I'm not publishing an essay, I'm posting on a tv cartoon thread
If you knew it was wrong, why do it? That just speaks of grotesque character flaws. I know their still around,
Now you're just making yourself look stupid. They're. A contraction of they are. Lrn2English. Please. It'll make your time here less unpleasant for both of us. I also liked the adverts at the beginning of select certain eps as well, just for the crack of them. Cash Bone is my favourite so far. It's too uptight... and we're not. It's just that as I've said, we like to hold ourselves to standards, and at least give the impression that we're intelligent and high-class individuals. I've been trying to be helpful. If you'd rather I was simply rude and pointed out your mistakes without offering corrections, I can do that. I can even throw in profanity and threats of violence at no extra charge.

Tnuk isn't a dbag, he is a Tnuk. And in this occasion, as with some others, he is correct. We generally try to have good grammar and language in general, it's not that difficult to just have it be readable. Minor faults and such aren't commented on, but when someone is frequently writing annoyingly inaccurate, people start to point it out. You're a newbie so I suppose you get quite a few extra chances, but I urge you to start behaving more nicely to the rest of the community.

You're, being a contraction of "you" and "are" should be substituted for your in both of those statements. I'd've said sentences, but neither of them end with a full stop. Do you get something special for that?
Or just self pride?
Whilst I take no pride in pointing out your failings, I have to say that I've got high hopes I might get something special out of it. Your improvement and education as a human being, and maybe even a slight elevation of your apparent intelligence. That'd be something special. Unfortunately, I do believe that it might be entirely too special to actually occur. Wow your on a roll nerduk

It's on this occasion. Oh, and "as with all others".

Cold welcomes have a purpose. If someone misbehaves they should be told off, and if they stay they have the chance of embiggening themselves, mentally, physically, and, dare I say, grammatically.

one question could change some things... what is your first language HermesPipe? The problem isn't that he misspells and has poor grammar. It's that he admittedly knows it to be wrong and doesn't care. I know it was wrong, I'm not publishing an essay, I'm posting on a tv cartoon thread

HermesPipe, PEEL is comprised of some of the most intelligent people you will ever meet. Typos happen - tnuk pointed out a funny one of mine in offtopic a short while ago (I blame this phone, and the fact that I was sitting in a CHP office...wait why would that have to do with me confusing night shift and night shirt? Anyway...) I disagree with what you said about newbies Aki, that they get extra chances. On the contrary, they are under surveillance the most. I make mistakes/typos quite a bit, sometimes I edit them, other times I don't if I'm especially lazy and feel that people can still get the point of what I am saying. N00bs are especially watched closely by us...one mistake can throw your rep down the shitter, eh DannyJC13 (I'm kidding, I have no idea what mistake you made for people to be on you as of recently, I think you are a pretty decent poster! )? Anyways what was my point? Oh yeah, don't get defensive when someone points out your clear abhorrence for proper grammar, and just learn to improve yourself with experience. You'll get there. I do miss the cold openings. Among my favorites was Bender's Robot Wash and the opening to A Fishful of Dollars? The one where Fry can't sleep because of the squeaking noises in the adjacent apartment because the robots are playing cards. "Give it a rest you two!"

Cold openings are nice to have, but seeing as the opening cartoon is already shortened so severely I don't think they have the time to put another 30 seconds into an episode that often... I think cold openings are excellent to have when an episode comes out short, but I have a feeling that doesn't happen all too often with Futurama episodes.

Totally agree with you there. I'd rather have an episode that's packed to the rafters with awesome than one that's two minutes short and therefore has a cold opening stuffed down its' shorts to compensate. By the way, your English is excellent. I'd correct people more often, but it's only when I spot a string of egregious fails that I become angry enough. Anyways, you're good enough that I would struggle to find things to pick you up on. Thank you Randi, apparently I post thousands of 'pointless' posts, such as 'Second' or 'Agreed', yet when others post things like this, for example Aki, it's okay.
No.
Yes.
It's this kind of thing that people get annoyed with, Danny. This, and complaining about people getting annoyed with it. Really, you're OK. But this sort of "quote somebody and add one word to contradict them for the sake of a joke" post is dragging down the average of your quality. You're becoming a quantity poster when you do things like that. Quality posts may include such things, but generally make an effort to also add something to the topic under discussion. Furthermore, quality posters do occasionally "shitpost" in the words of the illustrious SpacemanSpiff, but don't gripe when called out on it. Oh so TNUK can correct grammar but I can't?
Fucking PEEL, how does it work?
Finally, I'll answer this for you. I type correctly. I spell correctly. I usually adhere to the topic, and will generally have both coherent and cromulent reasons for saying something that are readily apparant. I don't often post "QFT" or "Second" or "Yes" or "^This". I've a high average when it comes to posts that make sense and have a clear purpose. Therefore when I take the time to point out a manner in which somebody can clarify what they're saying, it's considered acceptable. Also, it's preferable to me simply abusing them, which is something that I've tended to do even whilst in the middle of making relevant observations on the topic at hand. As I am sure you are somewhat aware. You're relatively new (at least, as a regular and an off-topic denizen), you're often perceived as spammier than an unwashed slaughterhouse bonesaw thanks to posts such as the one above, and you've yet to establish yourself as a voice of reason or sagicity. Be more sagacious, and try to follow the example of those who you think are more respected, and you'll join their ranks in no time. By the way, I'm neither well respected or well liked around here a lot of the time, so don't try to follow my example. It's just that I don't need people's approval in order to feel good about myself, so I don't bother trying. I do try to communicate properly though. I mean, if somebody is unable to feel the searing heat of my disdain via my words, then I'm not using them effectively, and that's something I do care about.

To not sound mean, Danny: I like you, you're a nice guy and all (from what I gather from PEEL), but you have to understand that some of your posts are unnecessary. Unnecessary posts are by definition not to be posted. Thus, if you post unnecessary stuff, people will correct you. Same goes for everyone, but when someone does it just once in a while (like me or tnuk or whoever), people don't care as much - it's a one time thing and everyone makes mistakes. When someone does it repeatedly, however, people get mad. By the way, your English is excellent. I'd correct people more often, but it's only when I spot a string of egregious fails that I become angry enough. Anyways, you're good enough that I would struggle to find things to pick you up on. Thank you.

Haha. I love how I read that as "shakes pussies", the Swedish word for "pussy" being "fitta" and "fits" being the Englified plural. ^^ Unnecessary-man is so out of here.
