...screwed.

So their dumping Futurama, Simpsons are likely to be in their last, or second to last season.

XFiles are over this season, as well as Ally McBeal. Which other ones??

That leaves em with what??? King of the Hill apparently seizes the 7pm (central) Sunday timespot, and then ??... Worlds Scaries Police Chases...

I think we should all take comfort in the fact that FOX here has dug itself into a hole not even their brilliant minds can come out of.

The simpsons will die someday. But no worry will keep us busy with more "entertaining" episodes of Temptation Island or a new kind of Survivor, etc.

Mr. P, whenever you find a typo, use the "edit" button under the message you want to alter. Those buttons are lifesavers, I use 'em all the time and I'm sure everyone else does too. Welcome to PEEL.

Back on topic: [sarcasm] Oh, but you see, FOX has Greg The Bunny and the upcoming Untitled Carrot Top / Tom Arnold Sitcom, which are sure to keep them Number Four for years and years to come! They don't need crap like Futurama! It's, like, y'now...gnarly hard to, like, understand. [/sarcasm]

Why would they kill off their main cash cow? It's all about profitability my friend. Futurama isn't making enough money, so it gets the chop. That's business for you.

Matt Groening said in an interview with the FT he doesn't see The Simpsons lasting much longer, Jamie posted the highlights of the article at CRU

Oh FOX are complete BASTARD FUCKHEADS, they don't deserve the space taken up by their inflated stupid egos. For all Matt Groening has done for FOX, nearly made it what it is now and they don't give a flying fuck about Matt or Futurama, they do about the Simpsons, as Matt predicted they will try and "wring every last penny out of it." No way FOX will ever cancel The Simpsons any time soon, but Matt Groening (and his team he did say) can just refuse to make them. I'd agree with him, The Simpsons should go while they're in the lead. Before it really turns bad.

Maybe Fox aren't planning to Kill The Simpsons soon, but Matt Groening is. It was even on the news on TV that Matt admitted they're running out of ideas, and want to wind down the show. The voice actors are signed for another 2 seasons, that would make 15 in total. After that, looks like Fox get payback  :evillaugh:

I would just like to point out that they've been talking about running out of ideas since at least season 8.

"Oh gee, keeping the show fresh is so hard, I doubt we'll go on past season 8"

"Yeah it gets harder and harder to come up with new ideas...season 10 will probably be the last"

"We don't want the show to become stale anytime soon. We'll probably end it after season 25."

Of course, that was mostly other writers. This is the first time I've heard Groening himself talk about ending the show...but still, I seriously doubt they'll kill the show anytime soon.

Of course FOX aren't going to kill of Simpsons, that show, sport and Futurama is practically all they have going for them at the moment, after McBeal and X-files was axed.

But FOX is screwed. They've alienated the creator of Simpsons and Futurama. That'll mean no more projects from Matt's hand for FOX to air. Pretty soon they'll be known as the "other sports network".

Basically,

Fox wants to kill Futurama, Matt wants it to live.

Fox wants The Simpsons to live, Matt wants it to die.

That rumor about matt wanting the Simpsons to die is untrue. Check out http://thespringfieldshopper.com  . I know FOX is going to have at least one reality show. Something in Alaska crap. It will also have "The Pitts" a show where regular people face problems. The Pitts will be made by mike scully who made all the 'not so good' simpsons episodes

Nope, a live-action version of the Simpsons can't be good.

I heard Matt's commentary on Fox news. Fox news. Okay executives, he's bashing your network. It's not like those fake ones that he does on The Simpsons!!! You better take some positive action or else!

This is what I've been dreading...

.."I was misquoted and misunderstood. I don't want anyone to think I am predicting the demise of the Simpsons. They will live on with new adventures for years to come. As long as there are things to make fun of we will be around," the Los Angeles-based Groening said in a telephone interview with Reuters.

Come on Matt, how many more adventures can this family have?

I think there are things going on behind the scenes that neither Fox nor Mr Groening want in the lime-light of the press. I have heard Matt is using the simpsons to put pressure on Fox to save Futurama (all insubstanciated). The comments to the press about The Simpsons being continued for years to come sounded very much like politician speak for 'The Simpsons is going down but we don't want to alarm the public until everything has been finalised and it is too late for anyone to stop it'. Or maybe 'The Simpsons will go down if Fox fail to see sense, but there is no point annoying another pressure group until the talks actually come to an end'.
I think there are things going on and only patience will see what.
