If I ever went to California, I would go to Cupertino, where Apple is based. I love Apple products, in fact I'm typing this on my iPad right now.

Hmmm, I have an iPhone 4, but I'm not really a big fan of Apple, but I am a big fan of The Big Apple, but that's on the other side of America :laff:...

Region 2 DVD/blu-ray hits on the 26th of December, 2011!

It appears to be identical to volume 5, except they're calling it "season 5" which is going to really irk me.

Nice one, I'm sure DannyJC13 will be happy! I guess in some ways I was right that they wouldn’t release it before Xmas, but I didn't think they'd release it just one day later either. Where is the sense in releasing it on Boxing Day? To be honest I'd be surprised if they didn't push it forwards to just before Xmas now. I guess maybe I was being too much of a cynical old man before, but time will tell...

As for the calling it Season 5 thing, that bothers me too. Then again calling it Volume 5 annoyed me as well. They should just call it 6A and be done with it!...

FUCK YES. BOUT TIME.

I'm not too weirded out by the date, Misfits Series 2 was released on the 27th December last year. :p

And I'm still super confused about whether to get the DVD or the Blu-Ray. Here's why:

Blu-Ray: I can only watch it on my PS3, and that means standing up whilst watching it. (I could get a chair and a lower shelf/cabinet though.) Why do I want it? HD MAXIMUM QUALITY.

DVD: I can pretty much watch it anywhere, and I can sit down and watch it. But, not as good as Blu-Ray quality. :hmpf:

So it's like sacrificing comfort and ease of access over quality, or vice versa.

Why not hook up your PS3 to a TV that is in a place that is comfortable?

Looks like they're doing what they did with Family Guy, releasing the first 13 episodes and then the second batch next season. The movies being called Season 5 really messed things up, but I'm not surprised they took this approach.

I'm facing a similar conundrum regarding being able to watch it anywhere or just in my home on my PS3 setup. Also... the blu-ray is considerably more expensive.

I think I'm going to splash out on the blu-ray as it's 'Futurama'. I love the show and it'll be worth it for the quality and also, the more money I can toss at this franchise, the better, I suppose. If it sells well, it might speed up 6B's release. Unlikely, but a man can dream, though. A man can dream.

The movies were put into one single boxset after they had all been released here, but it was just called 'The Collected Epics', not Season 5.

I have the American DVD, but I'll still be buying the UK one as well to support the show, and also it'll play in more of my players than just the one which the American one will play in. Then again, maybe I should get the UK Blu-Ray, Hmm :hmpf:...

I was actually kinda surprised by this- I mean, I know he only wrote one episode of Futurama (according to a Wikipedia page about him, apparently he writes most of the comics), but I thought that the DVD/Merchandise sales actually helped pay for the staff's wages.

And presumably he was referring to people for whom the DVDs/Blu-Rays are a considerable expense.  Those of you who can afford them: get cracking!*

* Sadly and ashamedly I do not yet own any of the discs :(  I'll be damned if I'm going to get the DVDs when Blu-Ray is clearly superior, but I'm holding off on getting a Blu-Ray player until I upgrade my 30" vacuum tube HDTV (yes) to something much larger and with a far better image.  And the big TV is waiting until other even larger but needed purchases are made.  <sigh>

There's no point in waiting for a blu-ray release of seasons 1-4 as they weren't produced in HD.

The movies and season 6 on the other hand... well worth getting in HD if you can (yes, I know the first two films haven't been released in HD yet).

For anyone like me who thought the blu-ray seemed a bit expensive on play.com... Amazon have their blu-ray page up and running now and it's £10 cheaper.

I didn't make it over cost, I made it over the reasons I already listed. :p

Plus, as people said in the DVD thread in the PE Stockroom, DVD is still gonna be around for a long time. :p

However, I am going to cancel my pre-order with Play and pre-order it with Amazon instead. £14.99 on Amazon, £17.49 on Play. :shifty: Done. :p

*Bump*

Recorded Rebirth and In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela in HD on Saturday, it was on from 7 'til 8. Watching Rebirth, they removed Fry's magic marker penis line, yet it was still there in the 8-9 showing way back on the 22nd July. I thought the watershed was from 9 onwards, not 8?

I think stuff like that is on more of a voluntary censorship basis than anything else.

They probably thought 7 was a bit early for it but that 8 was fine.

For fuck's sake... It was a funny line. And it suits Fry perfectly. I can just imagine him in College passing out or going to sleep and all the 'cool' guys drawing on him and messing around. Poor Fry. :(
