Yeah I thought that too, they can light up but they are distinctive anyway. That Monster has always been in that episode, ever since the Benderama table reading at Comic-Con last year.
Damn you Infosphere for giving me false information! =L

This monster, better be a decent character. That sparkly Bender, who knows what that's about. Looks like quite a strange ep, but then again it's Futurama...

Raquel Welch? She reminds me more of Leela (of the Sevateem).

I had the same thought. But that mustache is all Raquel Welch.

I wonder if that is the real Nimbus, if so, boy that's a huge parade float... Maybe it'll be a space parade? And the Nimbus is pulling the float? so?? everyone would die? that could be neat!
Maybe, it sounds like there is definately more than one ghost and one machine... Also, it could be neat? Ha ha how cheerful you are!

What's that new mass of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?
Out of all the people in the world, you, Australian slave, should know what that continent is. It's Antarctica- due to continental drift.

I like how everybody in that picture has taken off hats they never wear in respect.

I think that it's at least implied to be canon in "That's Lobstertainment" when Bender tells Calculon that they met once before (which I assume is referring to "The Honking").
Of course, Calculon's reply of "Absolutely not!" could counter this, but besides comedic value it may have something to do with a memory issue from losing his werecar status (although that apparently didn't affect Bender).

There is really nothing to suggest that "The Honking" is not canon.

I think some find its premise too farfetched to be taken seriously (well, seriously as an episode anyway; it's funny either way).
