Don't know about "must". Maybe he's just their leader. In primitive societies it's far from unusual that the alpha male (the strongest or the most intelligent or whatever) makes the others get food for him first.

Also, I read somewhere that, in the relatively near future, race as we know it will become non-existent since travel is easier than ever, which means that intermarriage will be much more likely to happen. However, human characters of different skin colors still exist in the year 3000 (as well as 10 million years from now), so I think the creators are ignoring that theory. Not necessarily. While the percentage of people of mixed ancestry may increase in the future, race as we know it will probably not disappear any time soon. (Racial identity is really more of a sociological concept than a biological one anyway.) In any case, such racial mixing would be dependent on different racial groups remaining in contact with each other (due to the easier travel you mentioned still being available, for instance), but it's likely that various future events (of which we've only seen a tiny sample) would result in populations of humans becoming isolated in various places for various amounts of time, which would prevent such extended contact.
I know that race is a societal concept. I'm saying that the societal concept itself is likely to become blurred once enough interbreeding happens.

Seems like a good leader would be able to get someone else to do the talking so he wouldn't have to do it himself. Like Moses. He was an ok leader, right? Just go ask a jew.

Solid Gold Bender: What did you enjoy most about this episode? The character development, the shipping (relationship between Fry and Leela), the time travel, etc...? In these review threads posters will typically discuss what worked for them/didn't work for them, why they did or didn't enjoy it, and what rating they gave it. Please tell us why you like it! I too, however, think it was the best episode ever. The shipping was excellent, the science was there, and the colors were absolutely amazing. Not too shabby a storyline either I gave this one a 10/10. And I'm not too much of a shipper, but I really enjoyed the storyline that played out between Fry and Leela. It was definitely down to earth feelings exhibited by the two, and it was nice to see amidst the whole are they/aren't they together type thing. Felt very old school, reminding me of the days of Parasites Lost and Time Keeps on Slippin.

I'm surprised I haven't already reviewed this episode yet. Much like everyone else, I loved it. The story and writing are brilliant, as is pretty much everything. This may possibly be the best episode in the series. Highlights: -The time travel montage -"I'll just shoot Hitler out the window!" -"Oh, the vast EMPTINESS!" -The scenes from the older episodes being shown -"That was the old Fry. He's dead now." -Bender being present at PE when Fry turns up late. Very amusing. -Leela crying after the "Hi-yah!" So very well delivered. -The little fight between Bender and the Professor -HedonismBot's line. I crack up whenever I think about it. -"My name's Hubert." Needless to say, this episode is an absolute 10/10. I'm beginning to enjoy it more than some of my favourites from the original run.

My favorite scene in the whole episode is probably when they watch the universe slowly decay. It is amazing, yet frightening and tragically sad. I really can't describe the feeling I get...I'm gonna have to make up a new word for it.

Agreed. This episode rates a 10 for me, and it would have even if the entire rest of the episode blew it, because of the death of the universe sequence. And the professor getting another beer from Bender.
Fortunately the rest of the episode was great, and showed how well they can do if they keep the number of characters in a scene reasonable instead of constantly trying to cram every character into every scene, which is how it's felt a lot to me this past season.

"...the vast emptiness... -shakes can-" haha, awesome line. Fortunately the rest of the episode was great, and showed how well they can do if they keep the number of characters in a scene reasonable instead of constantly trying to cram every character into every scene, which is how it's felt a lot to me this past season.
I have been saying this so much lately, it is so true.

You mean like how Scruffy is now an actively engaged crew member, so active he sits at the conference table? Yeah...not good. They made the mistake of every fad ever to hit the public. "People love Scruffy! We can't keep up with demand! Let'a flood the tv screens and put him in at every possible chance we can!" Thanks for turning one of my favorite characters into the show's albatross.

When Farnsworth started waxing poetical about the emptiness at the end of the universe, and shaking his empty bottle at Bender - that was great. I found it to be one of the most amusing and real kind of exchanges between blokes.
