I once read this comic book called 'Futurama' that seemed like a complete ripoff of Futurama.

Wasn't that Comedy Central show Futurama based on that old Fox show Futurama?

Be-Bop Deluxe's second album always reminds me of Futurama ...

I saw them in concert a couple of years after that was released, but didn't know that was the name of the album, thx :)  Also, they all wore skinny ties on stage, and opened with a cover of a song by Sweet, for some reason.

And now, "Love is Like Oxygen" will forever remind me of the "Love and Rocket" episode :D

Well, they were probably playing a lot of stuff from Sunburst Finish then. That's one album that I'd nominate for a "no bad songs" award.

I was in a primary school yesterday. The numbers 1 through 10 were posted on the wall as you might expect to see in such a classroom. However, the number 2 was missing. Obviously, the first thing I thought of was "There's no such thing as 2!"

Today in a museum cafe, I passed a table where two gentlemen were sitting and I overheard just a single word of their conversation (a word which, once uttered, I could say caused a small explosion of amusement on my part): antiquing.

Earlier this week I walked into a Subway sandwich shop and saw a"Footlonger" promotional poster and was of course instantly reminded of Futurama.  I attempted to locate an image on-line but a number of the results looked a little sketchy so I demurred.

The whole "head grafted onto someone's shoulder" thing isn't unique to Futurama, though. Hell, The Simpsons itself did it way back in season 3.

I was at a mini mall a few months ago, and one of the stores there had a Bender T-shirt in on display in the window. I'll have to remember to take a picture of it sometime.

I saw a guy with a Lars Bender kit on at a Target.
Two references in one...

Also last year, I was at a restaurant for pizza and it was pop quiz night.
One of the questions was "What Futurama character is from Jamaica".

I put Hermes in there (obviously; also put in Barbados Slim in there just to be safe  :p).

You expect people to know where a character is from a mostly-forgotten series?

There's a basketball player named "Channing Frye", also in NCAA Football 13 once, there was a head coach named "Philip Fry", and the names are generated.

I was watching the movie The World's End recently, and there's a moment where Simon Pegg lets out a high-pitched, "Whoop-whoop-whoop!", and on the commentary, he quips, "A little Zoidberg, there..."
